Love, like dead parents
leaves when you least expect it
orphaning young hearts.

Raging against tomorrow
blaming yesterday
Running in place—admonishing grace
denial on display
Cursing the past indentured
the future waits in vain
No place to hide—the truth inside
the moment left unnamed

No Anchor for Rancor
Wounded the ship of my soul,
With tattered sails,
Heels up in malevolence,
Venom puffs out the jib
In leeward grudges of tactless spite
On a pointless reach
Heading up into retaliation.
Heart hardened sends out a deep tap root,
Like a dagger board,
For my blustering hubris
To drop an anchor and moor animosity
In a portage of perpetual whirlwinds
With undertows of enmity
Crashing about in irons of spite.
Yet steady winds rise up
And I must come about
Heading into prevailing winds
Then journey through hubris doldrums,
Sails filled fresh with newborn winds,
Orphaning rancor - breathing in forgiveness -
Sailing beneath full sails of resurrection

Changing with each season,
voices come and go
what’s lost undreamed, ourselves demeaned,
in search of the unknown
Naked and left wanting,
fortune sires myth
impregnating its mystery
—with tales of the abyss

Sometimes love just isn’t enough,
as destiny calls within
Orphaning passion, emotions untether,
lost to Cupid’s whim
Never requited, alone and denied,
the search begins anew
Feelings repackaged and searching for more
—to do what love can’t do

Various animals, Almighty God created
In water, on land, in the air them he placed
Like a tick, others on other bodies he stuck
The frog on land and in water, he acclimates.
His slippery skin, good protection it makes
Into the water, he dives and swims like a fish
Lob him on the land, he leaps to gulp worms
On the land, he bounds and makes croaks.
For you dare fling him in the air, God he meets
In the air, he will suffocate for soaring he cannot.
Prayers he says and clemency he begs for soul purity
He cares not; he has confessed heavy and light sacrilege
Widowing insects, orphaning others but divine justice
The frog awaits, her eggs to leave and die in the cold
And so, the frog in pieces has slept eternally in peace

Attention spans declining
faces stuck to their pimp phones
unsmiling addicts they've become
spreading the infection
"mommy-daddy look what I made"
pay attention
we've become generation neglect
we're orphaning our children
if this is a spurt of evolution, we don't need it
we'll have no need for vocal chords or tongues
just long fingers for tickling keys will be the norm
no need to walk or run or have fun
everything is brought to our doorstep
our legs and arms are shrinking
no need for playgrounds
they no longer collect children
only the memories of laughter and dust.

There's no through road so
with iced courage and steeled breath
She opens each scarlet line,
watching each blank page wave in the wind.
She renounces, orphaning it through self sacrifice and,
through Her crimson puddles,
She sees the barren paths- untrodden-
retreat as the oven scolds the cake inside.
It leeches, and Her skin, the colour of sour milk,
is creaming, each foam washing away the marked gold sand.
It's too late, the clock's already struck and chimed
for the still unborn - stillborn unborn.
Enclosing, the bud swallows the bee,
it's shallow heart fading,
like the bleaching sun drying the caterpillar.
She collapses, clasping, dragging Her burden with Her

When they were burning the huts outside,
Bringing down the roofs and orphaning those inside...
Unaware and protected from their wrath,
I understood 'love'in your warmth...
When they made a hero out of me,
Irrespective of how ordinary my actions be...
Under your shield, I made the correct choice,
Building character and maintaining poise...
When in everything they saw only my ill,
And inside, i too was loosing my will...
Through that tunnel all darkening,
In your caresses, I kept walking...
My roof, for all your strife,
I owe you much more than my life...
Feel blessed to have you, my roof,
For once God's presence needs no worldly proof...
Dedicated to the people who have done everything in their capacity to help you be what you wanted to be....our Gods on earth!!!
