Tripping Point: An Opioid Odyssey
There are lines we cannot see, hardly know exist
Until we cross them. Then, as if by trip wire,
The temptress snare catapults us into a world
Of primeval darkness with no guide star.
“Hear my song and have a life of feel good”, she promises;
Her dissembled melody the dirge we can’t stop hearing.
Like a virus embedded in DNA she corrupts the message
Using us to propagate her death traps for more unwitting.
Lust for this mistress, Sans Merci, becomes insatiable,
Devouring all we love or live for - even hope itself!
Oh had I Circe’s warning:
Bind me to the mast, fill my sailors’ ears
With wax and sail alee of the siren’s song.

When Dee threw his back out again
Jay was his right-hand man.
Good deeds from a Christian brother -
Love one another.
Jay would drive Dee to therapy -
faith, hope and charity.
Jay did shopping; my, what a friend!
A straw in the wind.
Pain pills missing; this is not cool,
missing the Golden Rule
Jay helped himself as he helped Dee
getting high for free.
Dee had to end Jay’s free-wheeling;
would that stop the stealing?
A bigger question arises -
opioid crisis.

Avoid Being Annoyed By An Opioid
What we should do is try to avoid,
Becoming angry and also annoyed,
Destroyed for sure,
Not have to endure,
Or being tempted by another opioid.

Annoyed With Opioid
Concerning subject became annoyed,
When anyone would mention opioid;
About worry,
And also jury;
Went ahead and did have destroyed.
Trump will never end up being wrong,
And always has been same old song;
Mouth had spurt,
And fell on shirt;
Forever we did know he was ding dong.
If pathetic person will play with politics,
There are many ways to perform tricks;
Definite door knob;
On hair put dob;
Is amazing ways people get their kicks.
