I saw Moby Dick riding the Star-Spangled Banner
One full moon before the freezing September
Jamaica made first the say
Towards breaking the bonds of foray
While Warren was saying goodbye
Einstein blew the first cry
Towards breaking the bonds of foray
About six steps away
While Norma Jean was groaning in pain
The shadow of Columbus set sail for Spain
Poor Nelson made the creed
That broke the chains of apartheid
While the world was shedding tears for a fallen angel
Two teardrops fell that broke all hell
While Jamaica was waving the flags of liberty
Fleming unfolded an ancient mystery
Poor lovely Norma Jean
Fell early like James Dean
But the memory of her prime
Was revered through time
In memory of Norma Jean Baker
Twirling my truth like the tornado that I can be
I do not care, expect, or anticipate you catching up with me.
I can be cruel, crass, and crabby for sure.
Know there is the other side too- compassionate and child-pure.
My patience was shaken out of me by caretakers many years ago.
I am insecure because of it, but not at all even a tiny bit slow.
I make mistakes, sure, and I can be flaming hot in your bed.
If you are not up for a challenge, follow that girl instead.
I talk in a little girl voice, to remind myself to take care of Norma Jean.
You will do better if you nurture her; she despises anything unkind or mean.
My name is Marilyn, and I will tease people for the next hundred years.
Come sit by my side, and be affectionate, and you’ll have no kind of fears.
Norma Jean and Marilyn
Norma Jean Baker, Marilyn Monroe
A beautiful actress, a woman of woe
Just couldn’t handle all her ills
Loved the champagne mixed with pills
Blond bombshell Marilyn Monroe
Married Miller and DiMaggio
Aroused suspicions
with certain politicians
Soon found dead in her bungalow
Born Norma Jean M. to a mother insane.
Never knew her real father, just his name.
Vaulted to stardom selling glamour and sex.
If you had lived Marilyn, what would have been next?
