Premium Member No Accounting For Taste

One can say my skies aren’t lofty
And my style does not appeal
To their taste I’m too low key
They don’t care if I’m real
Or a shadow of bygone
If I’m living or deceased
If I’m right or if I’m wrong
They can’t bother less – I’m pleased
With attention I provide
I respect the time they waste
Reading words I couldn’t hide
Just to fit some little taste.

My leaves never droop and my flowers stand high
I bloom through the year as the seasons pass by
I witness the daffodils stand proud and tall
I see warmer weather put paid to them all

The alliums follow, the marigolds too
Then plants that will flower the whole summer through
Impressive by some standards, you might agree
But none of these plants hold a candle to me

The roses come close as they bloom into fall
And still here I stand as I scrutinise all
I watch as the wind brings down apples and pears
I won’t drop my leaves but I see them drop theirs

For I was put here by a man with a spade
Because it gets hot and there isn’t much shade
And all year I brighten this spot where I’m placed
I’m plastic - and there’s no accounting for taste

There’s no accounting for taste
I suppose that’s why children eat paste.
Smell is involved in it too;
Perhaps they grow up and sniff glue?
I won’t rush to judgment in haste,
Because pasta sure sticks to my waist.

When Jesus Turned

When Jesus turned water to wine
it tasted modestly divine
there was no witnessed waste
but there's no accounting for taste
pharisee spirit's complain all the time

No Accounting For Taste and Manners

Taste is a mystery
Forged by your upbringing and history
What I like
You may hate
You are a Taurus
I am a Scorpio
You take lunch
I eat breakfast
You enjoy soap's
I love sport
You believe
I don't
You are happiest preaching
While I prefer to listen
You are never wrong
Whereas I readily admit when I am
I carry the can
You pass the buck
You are blessed with endless good luck
I often come unstuck
You fly 1st class
I take the bus
You drink champagne
I like a pint
You think success equates to money
While paying me minimum wage
You rely on self
I depend on family

I will open a door
And say please and thank you
As you blindly walk on past me
Never stopping to thank me

Yet you are the benchmark
People wish to aspire to
Manners must cost nothing
Because otherwise if they did

You would be just as broke
As every other common folk

And you will still have to learn the value of manners

No Accounting For Taste

No accounting for
taste
What you dislike
and called a waste
is what I like

You call
cheese,honey
I called it bitter pill
You prefer a monkey
while chimp makes
me chill

You like worshipping
sun
I love worshipping
God
It really fun
you called mine odd

I lived in tradition
You lived in
modernity
But in addition
I lived in christianity

You urged me to
study biology
I urged you to learn
Shakespeare
You want me to live
by astrology
Let poetry be your
spear

You prefer winter
that is your choice
Mine is summer
when I'll rejoice

When you lay on
your bunk,
you hear the
music,rock
but I listen to punk
who should be given
a sock?

You love a black lady
with long dark hair
I love a white baby
to be my heir

You desire
democracy
as system of your
government
I desire theocracy
it had the best
management

Let us be a union
Let there be chaste
Let's tolerate each
one's opinion
for no accounting
for taste
