The area where the coffee scent fills the air
Where the homeless see the well off and just stare
Everyone has their heads down into their phones
Beautiful buildings and waterfalls running off stones
The people are too educated to be nice and polite
Front desk security is called if something isn't right
Plenty of places to choose from to fill their hunger
People on the move are bumping into one another
Everyone seem to have the same serious expression
Leaving you with that strictly business impression
Businesses lunches, Brief cases, and due dates
Demanding bosses and paperwork that can't wait
It's a fast pace world and it must be hard to keep up
The metropolitan area is not a place to interrupt
I hear it from across my river view-
the echoed horn of Metro-North's rail train.
At early dawn, I sit and wonder who
is going to the City to sustain
essential duties- heroes so humane-
those doctors, nurses, aides, to lend support,
along with first responders who deport
to hospitals where Covid patients bide.
There- they at risk help stay day's death report;
own fearfulness of sickness override.

Note:
Metro-North trains go through the Hudson Valley
along the Hudson River to Grand Central Station in
New York City. Because of the Coronavirus, they
run on a limited schedule for essential employees
who work and are needed in the Metropolitan area.
most would say that a suffocating feeling
would be produced by being squashed in a small place
for a long time &
thus the metaphor would make sense
when speaking of the city
where so many people live side beside &
on top of one another,
without a moment of silence to your day,
without a breath of the privacy
which comes when you move out to the burbs or the
countryside---
but a suffocation is bred by space as well,
when the city mouse makes their way out of the concrete jungle for
whatever reason &
when the sounds go away &
the plethora of conveniences that come with a metropolitan area
drift away,
all in an exchange for
distance from everything & everyone,
where privacy is what reigns so heavy
that the physical embodiment of silence itself
is thrust upon you
whether you like it or not---
and it can make the once socially active
cave in on themselves
and it can make the once boisterous & beautiful conversationalist
close up forever,
as if their lips had been clamped shut with a lock,
with the key thrown out behind the house
into a still pond,
where it sinks so deep to the bottom,
never to be found.
I'd rather be with you guys, and gals, than be enlisted with the Beatles, Stones, or
my favorite, the fabulous Pink Floyd. That's sayin' alot!!!
To Sean Kelly; "You're right, pal, I am NOT a quitter, and the band formed by me
will be awesome!!
To Wilfredo Derequito ("FRED"); consider yourself hired...I don'r know where you
live, but if the NYC metropolitan area is do-able, let me know...just imagine the
comedic skits we could do together. I know how bright you are from interactions
in the past; this could easily be a two edged sword, and I suspect, ultimately will
outshine our music. We're talkin' big fun times, and money times. Let me know
where you live....you could even stay with me until you find your own place. There
are tons of places rentng uphere.
COME ON, SOUPERS!!! ANYONE ELSE WANNA "JOIN THE BAND"??
MAYBE WE CAN BE THE P.S. Band?!?
