In the shade you’ve got it made;
The sun’s intensity does fade.
Of sunburn, you won’t be afraid
And you can sit in pleasure.
On city sidewalks or a glade,
Beneath a tree I wouldn’t trade
A shady spot; you’d not persuade
Me, not by any measure.
Some folks by a/c’s might be swayed
But when the pros and cons are weighed,
I’d save the biggest accolade
For shade, which I do treasure.
Kids of today have got it made
Wanting for nodda, got it made in the shade
When I was a young'un
Wanted to be a someone
Ended up with a life I sure wouldn't trade
Made in the Shade
Ruby Begonia sits in seaside shade
Reading a book and sipping lemonade
Slathers on sunscreen
Her freckles unseen
Miss Ruby won't join the "Nude Beach" parade.
M-ade in the shade,
E-ach time there's thing to do;
R-egardless of the situation,
C-omfort comes to
Y-ou.
N-ever fear the storm
O-f life that you encounter;
T-ry your best to brave
A-ny kind of wind or weather.
R-each the high grade of faith,
T-ill woes and worries fade;
E-arly twenty-fifth of July, you have it made in the shade.
My greatest thrill at this very advanced age
Is watching the Raptors and the battles they wage
If they make it through
To the finals woohoo
Excitement reigns, they got it made in the shade
Kids of today have got it made
Wanting for nodda, got it made in the shade
When I was a young'un
Wanted to be a someone
Ended up with a life I sure wouldn't trade

Some people are driven to succeed
In their chosen fields of endeavour
To me, success is measured
By a happy home life
And the number of friends one accumulates
Through the years
Quality of life is all important
Not the number of cars in our driveway
Not the amount of dollars in our bank account
Friends are a true gauge of our success
Lifelong friends are like pure gold
A treasure that is unmeasurable
Add that to a happy family life
And you have it made in the shade
