When shadows lengthen and the day grows still,
I lean into the quiet, soft and deep,
Just pulling up the blankets for a sleep.
It feels like resting after years of work,
Like sitting down when all the chores are done,
No heavy doubts or fears that try to lurk,
Just watching out the window, the fading sun.
My breathing slows, a simple, steady rhythm,
And all the noise inside begins to clear,
I leave the weight of everyday right with them,
And find a strange, gentle stillness here.
No dramatic exit, no pain to fight or mend,
Just letting go, and letting darkness blend.
Let’s pray for a bottomless pit
Imagine deep down hell
Where we can toss our toxic friend
Who would bare her heart of evilness
Who even now I remember
Making my life misery
Who brought my spirit to an end
I cannot forget, I won’t forgive
But hope he/she tumbles in
One big push but wont mention her/his name
Let’s pray and let’s push together.
Kindness and Love
by Kevin Davis, 2024
Kindness is gentle, like sunshine above,
It fills up our hearts with laughter and love.
It lives in a hug, in a smile so wide,
In helping a friend who stands by your side.
It’s there in the sharing of something sweet,
In caring for neighbors you happen to meet.
It sparkles in giggles, it dances in play,
It grows when we give it away every day.
Kindness is magic—it makes spirits rise,
Love is the rainbow that brightens our skies.
Together they shine like the stars up above,
The world becomes brighter with kindness and love.
So open your arms, let your big smile show,
Plant seeds of kindness and watch them grow.
For when we are giving, our hearts feel light—
And kindness and love make the world shine bright!
Are you only friendship to me,
Not an enemy, a chosen being?
You have an everlasting pretty;
A smoothie plus twenty,
Who I deem, lovely –
Forgiveness and forgetting,
are not joined at the hip.
We can still love the person,
but not forget their lip.
I thank God each day,
for my many second chances.
When He forgave He forgot,
with no backward glances.
It is comforting to know,
that God remembers no more.
My previous shortcomings,
before opening my heart’s door.
It’s quick and easy to say forgive,
with hope’s we didn’t sever.
A treasured friendship,
while forget remains forever.
Me and my chicken
Won't take a lickin'
Whenever he crows
Everyone knows it's
Me and my chicken.
Me and my chicken
Our hearts are tickin'
Cluckin' and pickin'
Here in the thicken
We keep on kickin'
Me and my chicken
Rooster and wiccan
You be awestricken
Your heart will quicken
For me and my chicken.
Think On This

Where did our face to face contact go,
seems no one has time, we’re all to busy.
Technology is subtly stealing our lives,
every new gadget puts most in a tizzy.
Gone are the days of just visit and chat,
and texting interrupts most conversation.
I find this to be annoying to the speaker,
but it happens to me with no cessation.
Phones are now for other than talking,
books and print life are joining the past.
My car has gadgets I’ll never learn to use,
makes me realize my time also has passed.
Man's bestie
Not a poodle
or westie
He looks like a wolf
Not in sheep's clothing
No danger
Only love
Faithful presence
Honest happiness
I can call his name
And in he comes
Boundless
Longing to be known
Happy to have grown
Up with me
He rests and dreams
So do I
We dream together
We walk
I talk
Whatever the weather
He teaches me something
Every day
About faithfulness
Simplicity
Honesty
Love
Even when we have to say
Goodbye
His memory
Will be etched
Onto the tombstone
Of my life
Until Then
by Max Burchett
Pop song on SoundCloud based on lyrics of this “Until Then” poem

Through the years and years,
what a life it has been.
Together fighting for
what we believe in.
And we are still standing,
still believing.
Never looking back, we are still on track,
on the road again.
Until then…
Until then,
we are not alone.
Wherever we are goin’
on roads unknown.
In spirit higher and higher,
together we are soaring.
Hand in hand we are going.
Until then…
I will remember you
and in the end I know we will make it through.
As time leads us on from here,
I will remember you.
We are always friends,
on the road again.
Until then…
As my body grows
frail and weak
I may struggle
to lift my head
from a sleep
but don’t cry for me
hold my hand
talk to me
We had so many
years together
remember those times
the times when you smiled
We have had
many blessings
in this life
a life with you
a life with those
we called friends
I have no regrets
I understand
you may be sad
but our love
our friendship
stood the test
we had many
beautiful years
there will be a time
from your arms
to my father’s arms
I will go
Remember to keep
the Lord in your heart
in that way
we will be
together
he lives in my heart
the Holy Spirit
will guide you now
I love you baby
smiles for you
Your Husband
Edward J Ebbs
Written for a contest, but still from my heart.
What you are to me, must you ask?
Then let me say and say it well.
In the past, you once wore a mask,
a face of what I could not tell.
Then, like a god, you take to task
my proud conceit cloaked in a shell.
Today, intense and raven-haired
with wisdom fit for Pallas Athene,
you are the souls that seldom dared
to be the friends who've never been,
the confidantes with whom is shared
my hope of things that's never seen.
Now, like the Atlas map and chart,
you're a compass to guide my paths
through hopelessness that filled my heart.
And so, life's trials and downdrafts
are less severe because you part
my sea of pain so I can laugh.
Her Arrival
Miracle Man
6/23/2022
many years ago,
she arrived in my path.
Armed with a purpose,
God had placed her there.
Today we continue,
in that day’s aftermath.
For her we’ve sought,
God’s face in prayer.
Her years were tender,
and job prospects tough.
She deserved much more,
than life was giving.
From this a friendship,
was born soon enough.
She just sought a chance,
to earn a living.
Happy Birthday
Shirlene
You make us smile, sometimes laugh,
and even cause some tears to flow.
You’re the part we kept from the chaff,
and thought of more than you know.
You’re a God sent breath of fresh air,
that brings life into any room.
You’re our focus in daily prayer,
and rescue us from occasional gloom.
You’ve left fingerprints on our lives,
beyond our ability to understand.
They’re filed in our memory’s archives,
and today your wish is our command.

O, fair heavenly Rose! How I sigh,
and sigh all the more! to smell your scent
and fresh bouquet, before I soon die
from a bleak, although unrepentant,
death! To never unite is unmeant,
to embrace is inspired work of art:
O, sweet Rose! Space and time both torment
me; they so constrain to bid us part,
and forbid our union as twin hearts,
two souls tangled in love till the end
of eternity—till all depart,
stars, the sky, and this earth; and transcend.
Though life's poverty, woes, will not bend,
my despair in this realm will expire,
once I kiss your dear face, my godsend;
and greet you in my opaline spire!
Missing Our Church Family
Written: by Miracle man
On A Snowy December 13 2020
Covid-19 has changed the way we act and feel,
unless it’s essential we’re told to just stay home.
But nine months of quiet time has lost it’s appeal,
this pandemic has bequeathed us a desire to roam.
We miss our Church family, and occasional embrace,
But where others are unmasked, we opt not to go.
For other than essentials, home has become our place,
and until thoughts change we won’t join the status quo.
