~ Based on the song, "What Did You Learn in School
Today?" written by Tom Paxton; popularized by
Pete Seeger ~
What did you learn in school today, son
What did they teach in school
I learned how to protest my country, Dad
They taught me that violence pays
What class did you learn that in, my son
Do you remember the teacher’s name
I learned that in Geometry, Dad
And my teacher’s Mr. Uppin Flames
Why you leaving the house now, son
Not ‘til your homework’s done
My assignment’s to attend a protest rally
Hey, Dad ~ Can I borrow your gun
Oh, what did you learn in school today
What did the teacher say
I learned how to protest the US of A
My teacher said violence pays
Somewhere over the mountain, hidden away,
There’s a land that is calling; I must not delay.
Somewhere over the mountain, that’s where she’ll be,
In the alpenglow, Mary's waiting for me.
They said I'd never recover from my stroke
A nightmare from which I never woke
A big chunk of me gone, a lower plateau
But I left the home, and off I did go.
It's our lot to grow old, not due to our sins
Trails go cold and entropy wins
But I'll boat down the waterfall where snowmelt flows,
I’ll find Mary in the place that nobody knows.
The terrain is forbidding, the ridge like a knife
Can't undo time, can't crash the afterlife
No country for old men, no breaking the rule
But I have to attempt, to give up is so cruel
Somewhere over the mountain, I wish it were so,
Mary is singing where wildflowers grow.
The starling will guide me, the meteor will show
The path to the valley where lost rivers go.
I went over the mountain, then took a fall
a thousand foot down off a sheer valley wall.
They buried my story, because no one must know.
They say I died then, but I died long ago.
Each year Memorial Day causes much lament,
and today will be viewed as another life recap.
A day we honor heroes whose lives were spent,
who, for freedom, willingly stood in the gap.
Too many families are attached to someone,
who served country and didn’t return intact.
Body bags, their ticket home to a loved one,
today, they remember that door knock’s impact.
I have written another Country song for all my soupper friends who maybe feel a little bit selfish at times ... It's called "For Me"
You know you're my love
you know you're my life
your everything to me
my dear precious wife
and you know I would do
anything that's for you
But this
I'm doing
for me
You know I've worked hard
all of my life
To make you feel happy
both day and by night
I made you a home
Never left you alone
but this,
I'm doing
for me.
I might feel guilty and selfish you see
But I'm doing this
I'm doing this
I'm doing this
I'mmmm doin' this
Forrrrrrrrrr ME.
Hail us as a devoted soldiers in camouflage,
see us march forward with a head held up high,
it's a choice we have made, we walk proudly;
we are going where many can't decide destiny:
shouldn't we consider ourselves lucky?
Only the brave ones protect liberty,
never losing their valiant spirit and courage:
young girls behind the police barricades sigh!
There are thousands of us holding weapons and flags:
who dares to challenge us: we're the strongest army,
we have pledged allegiance to our great country eternally;
some have deserted the camp: we stand behind trances!
Hails us as devoted soldiers in camouflage,
nothing scares us: don't we show invincibility?
Follow us to the warships as if it were a pilgrimage;
it's very sad to see them wave goodbye and cry!
Who fights for freedom doesn't fear enemies,
no flag will be taken down despite the threat;
it will wave steadily to incite fervor in us:
nightfall may dim our sight, not our grit!
Dust on my boots, sun in my eyes,
Rollin’ down a road where freedom flies.
Fields of gold, wind hums a tune,
Sky so wide, it swallows the moon.
Country roads, take me home,
Where the river sings and the tall pines roam.
Rolling hills, a southern breeze,
Ain't no place I'd rather be.
Mama’s voice calls soft and sweet,
Dinner’s on, and the smell runs deep.
Fireflies dance in the evening glow,
Memories shine where the wildflowers grow.
Country roads, take me home,
Where the river sings and the tall pines roam.
Rolling hills, a southern breeze,
Ain't no place I'd rather be.
Wandered far, lost my way,
City lights never felt the same.
But that red dirt road still calls my name,
Leading me back where my heart remains.
Country roads, take me home,
Where the river sings and the tall pines roam.
Rolling hills, a southern breeze,
Ain't no place I'd rather be.
Yeah, that old dirt road still calls to me,
Ain't no place I'd rather be.
Seek Peace
Miracle Man
10/31/2024
Nation’s search for peace but none is found,
so cities become a battleground.
The table of peace has empty chairs,
the world is a sad state of affairs.
It seems no one wants to give an inch,
no country wants to be first to flinch.
Many spend life in a real war clime,
while praying for return to peacetime.
I'm losing my center
I melt from within
Soft on my heartstrings
You slip through my skin
I'm needing to hold you
So please let me try
For today is a lifetime
And tomorrow another goodbye
Remember last summer
when we took the hog
on up to the mountains
and through hot spring falls
the flowers a whirl
of purple and green
I hold you too tight
And you slip through my wings
I'm needing to hold you
So please let me try
For today is a lifetime
And tomorrow another goodbye
Remember that dive bar?
How we snuck out back
And smoked that dirt weed and ate delicious snacks
You told me you loved me,and I believed to be true
So please let me hold you before i'm just dreaming of you
I'm needing to hold you
So please let me try
For today is a lifetime
And tomorrow another goodbye
I'm losing my center
I melt from within
Soft on my heartstrings
You slip through my skin
I'm needing to hold you
So please let me try
For today is a lifetime
And tomorrow another goodbye
Down in Hillbilly Hollow, under the silver moon,
Rustlin' leaves and hootin' owls, playin' a country tune.
Haystacks high, and the creek runs low,
Life rolls by, nice and slow.
Dirt road windin', bend to bend,
Kin and friends 'round every end.
Old guitars strummin', hear the sound,
Laughter echoes, love abounds.
Barefoot dances, by the old barn door,
Stories told, of legends yore.
In Hillbilly Hollow, hearts are full,
Under starlit nights, life's beautiful.
I Will Wait For You
Vs1.
I've been searching this long, lonesome time
To find the One who will forever be mine
Even though we haven't met
My heart is steady and my mind is set
To our future love, I'll stay true
Yess, I will wait for you.
Chorus:*
I'll be faithful, I'll be true
You're the only one for me and
I'm yours too
Even though my heart aches
And I want you every single day
I will wait for you
Vs2.
When you left to serve the country we both love
I cried and prayed for a sign from above
To tell me you would make it home
Or on foreign soil, die alone
But no signs say you'll make it through
But I'll pray everyday that you do...
And I will wait for you.
Chorus*
Vs.3.
She has always been there for me
She's been the glue to our family
All these years she's waited so patiently
Although I tried to stay, I had to go
God called me to my home
Like Him, she gave me a love I didn't earn
So now, darlin', it's my turn...
I will wait for you.
Chorus*
I grew up in a beautiful country that
upheld its constitutional rules of justice,
and this generation fought for peace
to give all something to dream about;
then come along extraordinary men
whose words made them strong again!
And along came John F. Kennedy, the patriotic man,
who charmed all with looks and speech
to excite the American spirit so weak;
we listened to him, nothing was a gimmick,
what came out of his mouth was pure truth:
he lifted everybody up, but short was his lifespan!
The sad and tragic news of his death came to fret:
we grieved, we cried with his wife and children...
feeling great empathy and condemned the evil act
of a killer whose hand was quick to kill and run!
And along came John F. Kennedy to rekindle the waning fire
in the deepest hearts of Americans, he made them proud;
how sad and alone Jacqueline felt without him by her side:
she grieved him and missed his presence until she died!
After work, I look for a place to mediate;
and that place is a walking distance:
there we met, and started dreaming,
we were naive kids full of nonsense,
we blushed saying words without meaning...
those sweet whispers made our faces radiate!
On spring afternoons we hold hands and singing
we take the road that leads to the breezy beach:
we own everything, no soul is around watching;
and laughing we ignore the preacher's speech!
Did we know what was love all that time I played
the guitar and you sang a gospel or country song?
All in all, innocence and joy were expressed as God wanted
of us kids growing up in faith and spiritual understanding!
We are taking the road that leads to the breezy beach,
and after many years aren't we glad to relive moments
of the photo album that swift fingers turn to relish
our youth's days fading from pages, not hearts!
The road that leads to the breezy beach
is dull, it hasn't kept the same landscape;
do we see ourselves still young and in shape?
Is life so brief to grab what we can't reach?
"TO ALL, and to those whom may be among the numbers of 'The Unknown' that my belated brother Kimo [August 26, 1969] may have known," ... by The Poet
(Lyrics attuned: "When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder")
1 When the drumbeat of your heart pound's not and time stops evermore,
And the mourns that aches a journal writes declare,
When the brave of Earth shall gather over on a listless shore,
And the role of honor list, you'll all be there.
Refrain:
When the role lists all an honor,
When the role lists all an honor,
When the role lists all an honor,
And the role of honor list, you'll all be there.
2 When your sins are long forgotten God's forgiveness dried your cries,
And the story of His goodness blesseth share;
All His soldiers kept on marching Heaven's Gate open to eyes,
And the role of honor list, you'll all be there. [Refrain]
3 You kept us safe, your loved ones who prayed, you're all be coming home,
Faithful hold unto hope and God's loving care,
Faith in God, honored country, and the loved ones, from us, The Known,
As the role of honored list, we'll all be there. [Refrain]

This years Graduation day,
is far from the norm.
The stages “Grads “walk,
are now a hate platform.
Thugs are making “Grad day,”
a day, easy to recall.
But for the wrong reason,
it’s now filled with appall.
What this country now needs,
is a much stronger hand.
Because force is the only thing,
haters seem to understand.
How I long for the day,
when this trend will abate.
But then, I know only God,
can rid a heart of it’s hate.
