Premium Member The Errant Knight

Seeing through the wav’ring flame of light
your porc’lain skin your brazen eyes so fair,
the songs which stir the depth of frosty night
do not waylay the course of love’s despair.

For love of King, not I, thine heart’s declared.
Oh, I am damned by wanton deed bespoke
on Furies wings my cursed heart’s ensnared
and in the fire we shall rise on smoke.

My love I’ll not rescind, nor Him provoke.
Beside your sleeping form our bed a pyre,
the curtain's caught in candle flame once stoked,
we’ll go to Holy Hell within the fire,

a martyred Queen, an errant Knight so blind
for Kings and common men are seldom kind.

Premium Member Flames of Pain

Under the smoke and flames,
The fire roars its stoked embers
As it rages, it's flames to the pain.

I see flames through the smoke,
Breathing down on me, such a heat
To touch my skin, the burn it will leave
I couldn't move, frozen, with nothing left to see.

I heard myself calling for me,
Calling out my name
My eyes didn't blink
Not for one moment
As it brought these flames of pain.

I rolled to my right,
Off my bed, onto the floor, I went
I started crawling for the door
My front door was my scent.

Bugsby, my cat, was in the room,
As I hollered out her name
The faint cry, she whines back to me
I swore she was right there behind, shame.

R.I.P. Bugsby, I'll miss you, always!

The cauldron sizzled when she added stink wood twiglets

threw in an old sandal and stirred the pot in elegant poise

When she stoked the fire by the quay of mixed pleasure

the platinum boiler outshone the lighthouse and gave hope

to pirates who filibustered merchants high on foul trade

With a shuddering quiver the harridan inhaled the scent

of frog legs and molluscs stir fried in sea weed and fear

which filled the air with the quaint fragrance of revenge

‘I am a seductress with my sweet perfume second to none

need no cabal or macho clique to induce justice and peace

Mercantile vessels sink to rock bottom where they belong’

The ocean master’s quandary blasted a troubling dilemma

for she was fair and offered one last chance to jump ship

‘Abandon abomination and slavery and join me at the stake’

Penance could be bought with gold coins and honest rosaries

for in this instance the good lady followed hallowed tradition

Once in hell’s heat Satan would absolve evil and godly delusion

roast the perpetrators like marshmallows draped in snake skin

An aroma of violation trespassed between bargains and pleas

and kindly the intoxicating fumes softened agony and betrayal

‘I shall reckon ashes and pulverized bones to the next menu in kind’

Premium Member Shaping the Shadow

As in dense mist I walk entranced in pace slow,
tracing your footprints my heart beats return,
out of sight I shape in me your ornate shadow.

When from the horizon northern winds blow,
chilled clouds spread dark shroud on the sun,
as in dense mist I walk entranced in pace slow.

I see you now saunter in my sunshine meadow,
adorning gems of my dream an angel you turn,
out of sight I shape in me your ornate shadow.

The spurt of your enticing fragrance I follow,
your elusive trail I won’t ever waver to yearn,
as in dense mist I walk entranced in pace slow.

The sunburst sky makes my craving mind glow,
in blazing passion stoked by your fervor I burn,
out of sight I shape in me your ornate shadow.

In dim twilight as I traverse life landscape fallow,
to live with the agony of the longing heart I learn.
As in dense mist I walk entranced in pace slow,
out of sight I shape in me your ornate shadow.

Draped In a Lavender Light

I wore fear
 like a winding sheet,
 leaving behind trails
 of dead dreams

I held hope in my hands
 and weeping, it slid
 through my fingers
 evaporating to naught

I undulated to music
 praying for redemption
 within the passage,
 I was left bereft, still, taciturn

but by relinquishing velleity
 into the firmament,
 and smashing my glass heart
 for the loves' of my life

I've begun to believe
 in miracles again,
 I am finding the way
 that comforts my soul

A shimmering
 lavender light,
 shines with serenity
 burns out the fear
 and builds a blaze of hope,
 by loving without doubt

the whips of regret
 are now unmoving
 fires have been stoked,
 this mystery now has élan

I am flesh, reborn out
 and into this life, once again.

Stoked in low;
stoked in high;
Try to reach up;
to that sky.

Your placement here;
Has just been in passing;
It's over now;
Life's not that harassing.

Don't look down;
Too late, don't frown;
Come with me;
We'll have the new town.

Never again;
Shall I turn away;
Never again;
Shall I  stray!

I'm leaving now;
I'll see you soon;
Come, let's hurry;
It's almost noon!

Give it a chance;
Give it a stance;
Look at you;
You're in France?

Let me tend;
Let me bend;
It all comes down to this;
My gallant friend!

Show me now;
Show me then;
It is how life goes;
It is The End.

A Deeper Rising

His purpose is deeper than what
lies at earth's core
For what it's worth the more he rises
to the surface the more
he breaks chains &
curses
He's layered like a Russian Doll
& the more they poke
the more the
illusions unravel
It's him versus a world behind
the scenes that span
a globe full of battles
I'm seeing flames flashing in
& out back and forth
like strobe lights
A fire has been stoked that
rises from the gravel
while he that sits
above issues judgments
without a gavel
This is a battle not initiated
by he but by those
that don't want
you to see
They prefer blinders for
those they use
like cattle
to block their vision
There are mercenaries on
mission already
in position
waiting for the
word go
They'll never know how deep
the rabbit hole goes
until the bunny
shows its hand
The funny part of it all is
no one knows where
he stands
or with whom
He's been groomed for this
war by generals ranked
in the clouds
ready to bring rain
These strange days are ripe
for change & the fruit
of the souls dark
nights will show their metal
The reign that was destined
& foreseen is something
out of a dream
which is why
they don't believe
Those that don't listen must
feel & only then
will they see
it is all too real
Sometimes the truth is stranger
than fiction for real
it seems

Sayonara, Year of Stagnation

Ever free to traverse my world
Yet shackled to an eleven year old promise
I donned a platinum cloak atop a living mountain
Physically high, emotionally low

I held two pairs of hands
While my heart beat out a painful rhythm
A handshake that formed my first friendship
And a typed message that united two lovers

The grayest skies I've ever seen
Sheltered my screens from the sun's glare
Thousands of miles away
Cherry and Lime linked across the expanse

A month of birth and traditions
Lay in shattered pieces under my triumphant body
Barely lucid and smelling like a bar
I held the sun in one hand and victory in another

The strongest scores I'd seen in decades
Danced on a melting page in the summer heat
An old acquaintance left as a master
And in came trouble and a new air conditioner

Ungodly hot and disconnected from the Expanse
I sat in three prisons with only them to guide me
Ever hungry, ever bored, ever exhausted
I ripped victory from the warden's clammy hands

Finally free to bask in the summer sun
I immediately hid in a dark, familiar cave
The winds of love began to whisper in the rustling leaves
As I smiled at the screen I knew as them

I returned to a place I romanticized as Nirvana
Six years later and a completely different man
That world was smaller than I ever imagined
Yet meant more to me then than it ever had before

Pulling the first of my overtime hours
I stopped caring about the work that must be done
My stomach growled and my shorts fell off
Sleep-deprived and starving for whatever scraps there were

Immobile once more, the world began forming around me
Future roads, unbreakable connections, pitch-black voids
The world and all of its frightening futures slipped away from me
And with it, the rest of the year

A dusk enshrouded airport brought them to me
The lover who saved me from past year's poems
As their world and body enveloped me
My aches, woes, scars and tumors melted in their embrace

With a new fire lit inside me
Stoked by anxiety, despair and hope
I don a new cloak of coffee-brown and boom-pole black
And shout into the Expanse once again to open my world

The Day You Let the Lion Out

It was the trophy hunt that played you out
In deafening degrees,
This video-invention of yourself revealed –
A theatrical display that formed the day,
A message of power, the plug-and-play
Of your most infamous hour

There was no prelude, no tribal peace
You ruled the jungle – you, the King
Of all the living things

Fools that they were, yet still they had the means
To foil the brimming scheme
So spectacular to its day – your grand
Safari of ambition, ranger man

The hunt was in your hands
Taking cover in a stand you scoped the prey
– the kill was underway

Stalking from afar you teased them out
And played them all for rubes –
Accomplishing an arsenal without a clue
You kept them in the dark, while you
Enlightened your black heart
And idly stoked your gleaming tools

You sprang from your blind
And moved in quick with claws extended
– soon your lust for blood was ended

Then time slowed down as lightning flash
As you became the bullet to the glass
Whose fragile peace was shattered in a rout
The day you let the lion out –
