Verse 1:
I was like some orphan boy (girl) raised up wrong,
didn't know where to go, or what to feel,
roamin' down dark alleys till the break of day
till You Broke The Spokes Of The Devil's Wheel
Chorus:
You Broke The Spokes Of The Devil's Wheel
showed me a world I'd never known
You Broke The Spokes Of The Devil's Wheel
took my hand and you led me home
Verse 2:
I was headed straight in the wrong direction
one more lost soul never to be found
roamin' through those alleys of eternal pain
till you broke the Devil's wagon down
Bridge:
The Devil's wheel is rollin' through this land
but not for me, not for me,
you gave me the grace to understand
I can be free, and now I'm free,

There’s nothing right in my left brain
And nothing left in my right
Which might help to explain
Why I’m not very bright.
But that’s no excuse
For the things that I do
Just admitting I’m stupid
For cheating on you.
It doesn’t take a genius
To see what I had
Nothing but good times
Nothing was bad.
And yet I did wander
Not using the brain in my head
Being led down the wrong path
By a different organ instead.
There’s nothing right in my left brain
And nothing left in my right
Which might help to explain
Why I’m not very bright.
But that’s no excuse
For the things that I do
Just admitting I’m stupid
For cheating on you.
“Honey, I’m sorry”, doesn’t quite put it right.
And I know there’s good reason why I sleep alone tonight.
But if you could forgive me this one stupid act
I’ll make it all up to you and that there’s a fact.
There’s nothing right in my left brain
And nothing left in my right
Which might help to explain
Why I’m not very bright.
But that’s no excuse
For the things that I do
Just admitting I’m stupid
For cheating on you.
something you should know
i'm down too often
i miss you as well
some things rekindle a gentle hell
the flame we cherish
the names you miss as well
the shame you kiss
when you're brought to this
we're just people
all too good
we're just you
you and me
nothing outstanding
or too original
did you miss my smile
the songs i sang
while all the while
they were just portraits
of a broken man
I know you too
soft and purple
a cherry bruise
this reminds me
of the hell we lose
and we're just people
in a broken world
i need you to
stay together
we're just people
all too good
we're just two
you and me
nothing outstanding
or too original
did you miss my smile
the songs i sang
while all the while
they were just portraits
of a broken man
"the worst is on a sunset fading
my words are yours as well"

I set a side my golden fleece.
I set a side my golden sword.
You look to me.I say to you.
'I think it's time, I guide you through'.
'I'll guide you through, this world you see'.
I'll guide you through, this world with me'.
'I'll guide you through eternity'.
'I'll guide you through, this world with me'.
Because! As your long lost lover.
I will guide the way for you..
As a fair minded man.I searched for you.
As a fair minded maiden. You came to me.
After lead through a life of treachery.
As a fair minded maiden. You came to me.
You look to me.I say to you.
'I think it's time, I guide you through'.
'I'll guide you through, this world you see'.
I'll guide you through, this world with me'.
'I'll guide you through eternity'.
I'll guide you through, this world with me'.
Because! As your long lost lover.
I will guide the way for you..
Now it's time to set you free.
From a life of treachery.
One kiss from me, and you will see.
Your love! Was only meant for me..
Because! As your long lost lover.
I will guide the way for you..
Because! As your long lost lover.
I will guide the way for you..

We were dancing beneath the streetlights
It was an episode
For those who needed a dose of life
We were lovely in the eyes of open doors
Murder became this wishful night
Days that settled for laughter and nothing else
In it’s entirety it was a blissful sight
We were awaken shrewdly at best
He said I don’t want to hurt you
But I got to take your life
As he walked us over to the ATM
His heart reigning with tears
But his eyes were yielding “Amen”
I was walking home from class one day
When I was stopped by a man with nothing to say
Hey, how you doing, Are you okay
His beard grew tired and gray
And he wasn’t there to take my hand or pray
We were dancing beneath the streetlights
We were awaken shrewdly at best
He said I don’t want to hurt you
And he wasn’t there to take my hand or pray
“When people stop asking politely”
The words are swirling today. They are gleeful and happy and kind-feeling.
I am lying in a little stupor after taking a sleeping pill that knocked me out for ten hours.
And I am watching the words whirling and curling and floating ever so gently in a cloud formation,
Not so high that I cannot reach them, for I can. I smile at them, knowing they can be used for fun.
They can cajole,
They can tease,
They can delight,
They can irritate,
They can play,
They can exude serious,
They can teach, torment, and terrify.
Words, glorious words, in the hands of writers, poets, singers, and dreamers.
Wow!
How wonderful, thrilling, and toe-curling!
I stretch my toes, my feet, get a charley horse.
Ow! Ow! Ow!
Jump out of bed, make myself a fat, happy, roast beef sandwich, snag a bag of chips and an ice tea.
Run outside to feed Shark, the cat, who lives out there in a cozy, covered, hot-platted igloo,
And sit down at this typewriter.
Where to start?
How about now!
Backyard Vacation
(Country, male vocal, speed/tempo in vein of Zac Brown Band's "Knee Deep" w/Jimmy Buffet)
When life’s hurdles got ya goin’
Around in circles without you knowin’
And it seems they’ll never end
I take a walk in my backyard
I like that it’s so large
There I look around and take it all in
Sometimes life feels strained
It shows us joy and sometimes pain
I’m here to tell ya a backyard can explain..
That just for a few minutes
So long as a hammock’s in it
Life’s trials can’t ever beat out a sunny day
I’m lucky got a few nice acres
Trees and a pond from our good lord maker
I’m thinkin’ it’s funny how it got this way
As I take in the view
And tell myself don’t be a fool
This feeling is what you never want to go away
Sometimes life feels strained
It shows us joy and sometimes pain
I’m here to tell ya a backyard can explain..
That just for a few minutes
So long as a hammock is in it
Life’s trials can’t ever beat out a sunny day
The beauty you’ll see offers a hedge
Like a tree’s reflection against the water’s edge
It’s a paintin’ you can see in your mind
It’s all a gift so enjoy the tryin’
Sometimes life feels strained
It shows us joy and sometimes pain
I’m here to tell ya a backyard can explain..
That just for a few minutes
So long as a hammock’s in it
Life’s trials can’t ever beat out a sunny day
Can’t ever beat out a sunny day..
i've got
the world
in my hands
it's time
to make
my stand
fighting
for the love
in your hands
it's hard
to move
alone
under water
sometimes i think i'm going down
sometimes i feel i'm gonna drown
sometimes i feel i can't feel
so i go under water
i don't want to hear it no more
i don't want to hear it no more
i take my chances
i'll capture hope in the moment
there is no tomorrow
no matter who is there
i'll save your ashes
but you're just a moment
you're just a moment
just a moment too much
under water
sometimes i think i'm going down
sometimes i feel i'm gonna drown
sometimes i feel i can't feel
so i go under water
i don't want to hear it no more
i don't want to hear it no more
"i can't swim, so i'll walk the moon instead"
And even if
You don’t know for sure
I’m willing to
Let you go
She said
I want to know where you are
I want to go where you aren’t
I paint the city a lovely tale
I string together
The pieces of those
Left behind
And even though it’s wrong
I leave you my flaws
Awkward designs
In a royal song
And even if
You don’t know for sure
I’m willing to
Let you go
She said
I want to know where you are
I want to go where you aren’t
My mother of worries
A passage of suicide
Qualms for care
My days for lease
My hours for rent
Haven’t you heard
Grace won’t choose your soul
But the choice is yours
Spend it before time mends you old
I am the cheese that fed many
The bread that allowed others to starve
I am the warmth
That haunts the man without a home
I am the cold that comforts the ill
The sickness that drives individuals to want
I am the integrity that lays about a dawn
The wonders that plague this unforgiving world
The displeasures that inherit living
The doubt that recognizes
Where life can not go
I am the obvious
When your instincts tell you I am not
I am the sun set when the moon refuses to show
I am the whereabouts forgotten
When man has no place to roam
I am the home
The sculpture of belief alone
I am the mind set
When all further instincts are no more
I am imagination on a dreary day
I have become less fatigued
But I grow weary in many ways
I am laughter when quietness
Becomes too much, too harsh
I am the land, the swamp
The unappreciated marsh
I am the road, your path
The ultimate gasp
Indiscreetly I am you for a while
Smile, I am 22
And I miss dearly being a child
