Who is under that hat we wondered as she disembarked.
I had never seen such a contraption that was so not easily parked.
It was feathered and fluffed, with flounces that said United Nation.
Had a mind of its own, this glorious concoction, fabulous creation.
We could not see her face, but I knew she would be a famous someone.
Kind of a hat that would not be easily dissuaded. It turned to the sun.
Soaking up the rays at that bandstand, as we watched our children play.
I tried to see the woman’s face, but it was under a veil of lace that day.
She was a mystery woman, in the best hat we had ever seen in July.
It shaded her completely, as we watched fireworks in the sky.
She climbed back in her limo and was whisked away at midnight.
We waved to her and her glorious hat until they disappeared!
There is a strange movement swirling around in the sky, bringing down showers of rain, soaking the dry thirsty earth, leaving puddles and pools on the surface of the ground, filling up rivers and streams all over the town, blocking the entrance of the city and filling up all the gullies and flooding out the territories.
A strange sound is coming from the ground; it is burning mankind conscience with guilt of old and reveal tales of the people that lived in the sky for a thousand years before the universe die. I saw them in my dreams hundreds of them gather around the stream, fanning the fire to warm their bodies and making coffee before the break of dawn.
There are strange people living among us, they come from the galaxy far away from us and when my spirit is in distress they swarm the heavens in droves and sing melodious songs to comfort my soul. I can feel them all the time and this how I know that life is divine and success comes with time.
There is magic in the sky spilling pigments of old in the clouds, it is the secret of the odyssey that lives among the clouds that makes my spirit bold and winter dancing around the circumference of time telling tales of old that is divine.
Come and watch the night sky with me and, you will see some things that will make your spirit free, they are everywhere in the sky and you will never be the same when you witness the magic in the sky glides over the moon and rest its beam over thee.
There is magic in the sky and you have got to see how the world comes alive.
Sometimes the world can be a wondrous place
It never ceases to create magical illusions
Like a colored Rainbow in the Sky
That can create such magical conclusions
There’s a pot of gold at the rainbows end
Or so the story goes
But no one has ever proved it
So God is the only one who knows
A thunder storm breaks suddenly
Lightning flashes all around the Sky
We run for cover out of the rain
As the animals go flashing bye
Nature in its element a wonder to enjoy
The Trees, Bushes and Flowers welcome the oncoming rain
The Clouds above pass quickly by
Just like a speeding passenger Train
When the Sun reappears and the storm has abated
There’s seems to be nary a sound
As the Trees and Flowers seem to come back to life
Having enjoyed the rain that fell soaking their roots set underground
As the Sun shines down there’s warmth in the air
Everyone seems happy all around
As peace and tranquillity seems to be the norm
It’s all peaceful now the storm has passed
What magical moments will nature bring
To cause wonderment now the die is cast
At night the Moon shines brightly
Sometimes peeping out from behind a cloud
Almost shielded completely for view
As if wearing a big white shroud
On a clear night you can clearly see
What lights our way at night
Thanks to the Sun and Moon
For making our days and night so bright
It’s a wondrous place this universe we are in
And have been for many years
That thought should bring us comfort
And put aside any long term fears
In a far away land
Was a castle prison
In the left back tower they were held captive
The Fool
The High Priest
The Magician
Hours to days
Days to night and months to years
They all looked out the tower windows
The magic gardens beyond their reach
Where the elves danced and the holy ones prayed
The fool babbled his nonsense
The magician made dreams disappear
The three captives suffered
Evading death each day was a victory
All wondered when evil would come out and play
Castle guards drinking honey wine
Talked of conquests beyond
Battles won and women scorned
On the thirteenth year up in the castle tower
The magician’s birthday arrived once more
Tapped 3 times on the tower floor
The fool became a fool no more
His powers opened up all locked doors
The guards asleep, dreaming honey thoughts
The magician the priest and the fool, out they walked
Along a forest path at night
The fool turned and stared
I am the fool who are you?
The magician lit a fire of magic and burned his soul
The high priestess prayed as he plunged his faith into his heart
He fell upon the sword of holy injustice
Fires rose making forest walls
The earth divided, and the rains fell
In the distance the castle tower tumbled to hell
He was a wizard of another time
Now he wanders the earth, the fool of all time
He wears a cloak that hides his true desires
One day he knows
Deep inside
The people shall one day be free
Of all the burdens they hoard like golden treasures
The fool walks the universe
Free
In the heat of a desert sun
At high noon
The sand soaking the blood lust of battle
The hangman languishes
Holding a head with no body
Wishing he too could be a fool
Free of haunting memories
Free to roam with the
Slaves
6. Matsukaze
("Noh" is an ancient Japanese style of
drama, broadly similar to Elizabethan
tragedy. "The Wind in the Pines" is
my version of a well-known Noh play.)
Despite
the vigil I kept, night on night ...
despite
my spring purification rite ...
paper streamers like fronds of willow,
tears soaking into my pillow,
you did not come.
Madness touched me.
Like the spume of a wave
that boils and fizzes,
in my pain I raved.
Love returns like the ruthless tide,
like the air perspires in the hot night,
and leaves beads of water on morning grass
to mark its sweating.
The agonies pass,
but there's no forgetting.
Waiting at the gazing tree,
I look out on the restless sea ...
is that he? Coming to me?
Cut the succulent leaf of aloe vera,
and it weeps clear healing tears.
I am restored. Here's Yukihira.
See how his ship skips as it nears!
I deceive myself.
Am I blind?
It was the wind,
teasing a pine.
Exquisite, his calligraphy.
He painted a poem, just for me.
"Now I have gone.
Left you behind.
But if you pine,
I'll come at a run."
I am nothing now. I am a sad pine,
doubled over by prevailing winds.
Like salt, I dissolve in the brine.
Nature's madness, love, is a storm,
but it can't last. The sky grows warm
with purple streaks, braided on magenta.
I am held fast, because I have sinned.
Where I go now, none may enter.
Autumn rain will come. Mark the signs.
And listen for the wind, sighing in the pines.
indecision
by Eiffel Tower
shall I take lift or stairs
sipping coffee
off the beaten track
why does it taste better
on bench, relaxed
relishing the peace
can idling be a sin
fantasy shared
padlocks on a bridge
is love for ever more
pleasantly lost
in city side streets
do we need find the way
an evening stroll
lovers by the Seine
who knows where it will end
soaking in her
nocturnal beauty
how can I resist her
lingering thoughts
when it's time to leave
how soon can we return

Tears of sadness or tears of joy
Tears at the birth of a new baby girl or boy
Tears when a small child breaks his favourite toy
Tears of a little child who fell and banged his nose
Tears at a romantic gesture giving flowers or a red rose
Tears when your boyfriend falls on one knee to propose
Tears from the pain we feel when we lose someone dear
Tears of the unknown or of things we dread or fear
Tears at bitter words you never wanted to hear
Tears flow freely at the end of a big romance
Tears when you want him back – do you give him once more chance
Tears at a sad song that tears at your very heart
Tears at a film when the story line tears you apart
Tears at a tender moment lovers sometimes share
Tears at a gesture that shows the world you care
Tears at the loss of your cherished pet
Tears are forever falling and your cheeks are soaking wet
Tears at a stunning rainbow filling up the skies
Tears when we mourn the loss when a person dies

14th June 2014
I wrote this poem at lunchtime on Monday 9th June then got very bad news that night and boy the tears did fall - so it was somewhat prophetic!
Gnarled hands
With hands gnarled from age
She works the soil
slowly, sometimes painfully
with determination.
She is driven to show them,
they think she’s too old.
“Let us do it “ they chirp.
“We’re young and strong
it won’t take us long.”
She sits and watches
Remembering the joy
The satisfaction
The pleasure
damp rich soil brought her.
This is her serenity, her peace her joy!
They finish the work she started.
Did it bring them the same feelings?
To them, it was just work
A task, Get it done they said.
That’s their mantra
“Just get the job done”.
They say their goodbyes,
Pecks on her cheek
Gentle hugs, she’s frail you know.
They leave her,
she sits for a minute,
sits in her beloved garden.
Looking over their work
she sighs.
They don’t get it, they don’t get her!
She kneels on sore knees,
immerses herself in the feel of the dirt,
works the soil with those gnarled hands
soaking up the sun,
listening to the sounds of the garden
Rejoicing in the day!
She plants seeds she hid in her pocket,
hidden from them.
She says a silent thank you to them
for caring and worrying about her.
She knows they mean well
They just don’t understand.
red palms, white sun
leaves are religiously green
red is raw
the canvas soaked
is it fire, blood
or passion
the sun vertiginous
lava alive
romantic sun experience
soaking up cataclysmic rays
raise the temperature
hang onto the assorted bark
it’s tropically airy
sip its burst of twilight
trio of trees purple-cling
as if plum vines

to
let
go
is to disappear
into the atmosphere
red palms, white sun
the artist s t u n s
A Beckoning finger glides her flight
tasting the wind,
to gather insight
Lifting her arms tendril-ed to light
drifting in feeling,
is darkness and fright
Soaring to plains,knights had fought
in helmets and headstones
her passion is wrought
A Flaming phoenix,re-birthed no more
A splendor embers
to ash on the floor
Wizards are slain and witches dispelled
majestic they hung,
to final death knells
Screams of mercy,rip into heart
calling the magic,
dirt caged in part
Exquisite white witch dripping with love
trembling her spirit,
watched from above
Releasing her power A dragon breath pales
kaleidoscoped magic,
lifting dark veils
Four elements drawn earth, wind and fire
water poured forth,
soaking a pyre
Earth stamped evil beneath his sin
wind settled hell,
the flames did rescind
Dusted of tragedy,on hallowed ground
sucking black magic,
in gasps that resound
Echoing Demons,soaking with shame
anviled to stone,
now have no name
Fire burnt mercy back into heart
myths of history,
now live the past
Drifting in peace,a witch found rest
laying her head,
is all she requests
