The Hug
He is loving
caring
In love with the idea of hugging
Yet part of him
The scared part
Doesn't allow him to fully give himself
His hugs have the obligatory arms
The move forward
The joyful smile
The enthusiasm
Yet they lack believing
The feeling of deserving
After all there are scars
The names
The looks he's endured
His hugs are a safety check
A cry of please love me
A hint of I'm not sure I can trust you
Trying desperately to find his place in a world
The one he has never felt was or is his world
So he tries to carve a place for himself
One hug at a time
Until he can melt himself into it's arms
Until he believes he has a space
A place that is his
A place unconcerned with the bending of genders
Or wrapped in the cellophane of churchie staring people
He is not some preconceived idea
So he will hug them
Not fully, just a bit
Until they start to hug him back
Until he really feels it
Because he really
Truly is
And always has been
A loving person
A caring person
One who doesn't understand
Why?
why?
Why have so many chosen to hurt him!
I for one will gladly
Happily, lovingly
Reach out and embrace him
Because this wonderful
Gentle
Thoughtful young man
Desperately needs a hug!

This poem came after participating at "The inspired word cafe".
After reading my poems a young man gave me a hug.
As each performer performed he would give them a hug.
I watched both him and the reactions of those being hugged.
The experiece left a mark on my being that needed expression.
Therefore thanks to Ryan this poem came to life.

Robert Beltran played her first officer, Commander Chakotay.
Tim Russ played the role of Lieutenant Commander Tuvok,
the show's Vulcan equivalent to Star Trek's Mr Spock.

Garrett Wang played Ensign Harry Kim,
Kim was Lieutenant Tom Paris's best friend.
B'Elanna Torres was played by Roxann Dawson

The endearing Talaxian specie known as Neelix,
was played by the actor Ethan Phillips.
Robert Picardo played the ship's medical emergency holographic doctor.
Jennifer Lien played Kes, a specie known as the Ocampa,
and last but not least my personal favorite character of mine,
the amazon, buxom blonde Borg known as Seven of Nine,
played most cerebrally and seductively by actress Jeri Ryan.
In my opinion it's the best Star Trek series adventure.
It ran for seven seasons; Star Trek's Voyager.

We walked into church, God saw my lost soul,
I met you and it went away, cuz I wasn’t enough for your economic status.
You saw me and walked away, God told you to turn around and walk the other way, your group I walked into, what a mistake, for I didn’t meet your requirements.. I guess GOD doesn’t save the ugly black sheep.
You say it’s not me, but I see differently, HE spoke to you to walk away,OUR LADY OF GRACE isn’t for me... it’s me, it’s my daughter, AUTISM isn’t for everyone, don’t worry your not the first one to judge, my whole family don’t know how to love US..
So I’m giving you what you wanted a year ago, we are walking away, give you your FAITH a wide birth, Give GOD full access to your faith, don't let US keep HIM from loving you, lighting your path to Heaven.
Maybe I shouldn’t have walked into your small group a year and nine months ago, because I’m the Black Sheep that GOD turned his back on.

I was in-processing my Army unit in Germany when the fortieth anniversary of D-Day happened; but, alas, I couldn't leave. I wanted so much to be there to meet the old surviving veterans, to shake their hands and hear their stories. I had read accounts of D-Day-- June 6th, 1944. I had already seen several times the film The Longest Day, based on the book by Cornelius Ryan.
Eventually my family followed me back to Germany, and we later took a vacation that included Normandy.
We visited Sainte-Mere-Eglise, and I pointed out the manekin of Private john Steele--the paratrooper that had gotten stuck on the church's steeple.
We visited the upper German fortifications of Point Du Hoc, where Army Rangers fought their way up impossible cliffs.
We paid our respects at the US war cemetery on Omaha Beach, and my sons and I walked where so many Americans had died to free Europe.
My wife was very somber and respectful at these sites; she is French, and grew up hearing stories of the German occupation.
I often still watch on June 6th either The Longest Day, or Saving Private Ryan, and try to imagine my forebears on those beaches.
LIFE WITH SMOKEY
Life with Smokey was never dull,
He was fun and adventure,
It just never lulled.
So quiet and regal he seemed to be,
So dignified,
That you just couldn't see,
The rascal there in the heart of that cat,
He seemed so gentle,
Who'd have guessed that,
He was King of the Thieves with fresh seafood around,
A varlet, a knave,
His vices abound.
He climbed in the fridge for the fresh crab meat there,
And when one fell out,
It gave him a scare;
For it still was alive and it scurried away,
With Smokey behind it,
"Oh good, now we'll play.
I'll swat it about until it just dies."
But the crab grabbed his paw,
And we ran to his cries.
Dad grabbed up the crab and put it right back,
Then he gave him the fish,
He'd remembered to pack,
So Smokey could have his treat as before,
Not caught this time,
But bought at the store.

I HAVE GREAT RESPECT FOR THAT NOLAN RYAN.
IN EVERY SINGLE WAY.
I WOULD LOVE TO THINK OF THIS
AS JUST ANOTHER DAY.
NOLAN RYAN IS OLD SCHOOL.
I JUST LOVE THE WAY HE PLAYS.
WHEN THE TWO OF US DO BATTLE,
ONE OF US WILL HAVE TO PAY.
I WON'T LAUGH AT NOLAN RYAN.
NOT EVEN WHEN HE'S WILD.

If you happen on a field of roses…swaying in the afternoon sun
It is often difficult to discover the individual beauty of each one.
Today I’d like to introduce you to one particular flower that I chose
with a name as beautiful as she is…it’s called the Fiona Rose.
I had the pleasure of officiating our son’s wedding…
which means it was from my lips the ceremony unfurled
but it’s not me I want to talk about…it’s Fiona…the flower girl.
I hadn’t met Fiona at the rehearsal…hadn’t yet felt the glow of her smile….
The first time I happened to see her…she was tossing flowers while dancing down the aisle.
From the moment I saw her step into the aisle…I was mesmerized…spellbound
at the graceful way she tossed her flowers and how their colors painted the ground…
When she reached the end of the aisle…she was as happy as can be….
she stopped her flower tossing and she smiled up at me…
We shared that smile for a moment…that was actually the first time we would meet…
then she turned around with her basket in hand…and hopped back to her seat.
And I thought how each flower she tossed was unique…
one of nature’s many gems…
each one beautiful in their own way…just like the child tossing them.
Admittedly I may be a little biased…but that moment she smiled up at me…
was the perfect beginning to one of the most beautiful weddings I will ever see.…
For not only was I there to marry Amy and Ryan…
to feel their love…to hear the vows they chose…
but I was also there to see Fiona…
and the beauty of one rose.

The effects on nature seem lost
Yes EPA rules do offend
Those who crave Earth’s wealth without end
They claim to hate debt
But have seen nothing yet
Like phone bills "T-Mobile" might send!
Author's note: It seems ironic and strange that debt haters (like tea party supporters, for
example) and those who are pushing more reliance on fossil fuel and less "subsidy" for
renewables (Romney/Ryan for example) support the continuation of policies and
practices that will damage the environment and that will hurt future generations. They are
pushing growth and not pushing conservation. I would have more respect for them if
they talked about the costs as well as the benefits of their plans. I wonder if it might just
be a scam to reward large corporations for the short term and stick it to the rest of us for
generations. That would be nothing new.
