I HAVE GREAT RESPECT FOR THAT NOLAN RYAN.
IN EVERY SINGLE WAY.
I WOULD LOVE TO THINK OF THIS
AS JUST ANOTHER DAY.
NOLAN RYAN IS OLD SCHOOL.
I JUST LOVE THE WAY HE PLAYS.
WHEN THE TWO OF US DO BATTLE,
ONE OF US WILL HAVE TO PAY.
I WON'T LAUGH AT NOLAN RYAN.
NOT EVEN WHEN HE'S WILD.
HE STRUCK ME OUT 3 TIMES SAME GAME,
AND HE NEVER CRACKED A SMILE.
I'VE BEEN KNOWN TO GET SOME HITS,
MANY TIMES TWO OR THREE.
WHEN I HAVE TO FACE THAT NOLAN RYAN,
I NEED TO BE THE BEST THAT I CAN BE.
TONIGHT I HAVE TO FACE THAT CHALLENGE.
I KNOW IT WONT BE EASY.
IF YOUR A FAN SITTING IN THE STANDS TONIGHT.
RYAN'S FASTBALL WILL MAKE IT BREEZY.

Amidst the chaos and conventions
The political ads with evil intentions
The truth was twisted and left to die
Watch the rich man laugh and the poor man cry
We had conservatives in our youth
Who had some connection to the truth
Power and greed, corruption and deceit
Have taken the battle into the street
Represent the people, they no longer can
losing connection to the common man
He's still conservative but he no longer buys
Assaults on the White House with innuendo and lies
He fears that the truth may never be found
Lost in the minds of leaders unsound
To win at the polls regardless of cost
Even if the country is lost
To rebuild a nation with the economy broken
Cannot be cured by lies that are spoken
Better ideals and integrity sought
The truth will bring a reversal of thought.
The actual twisting of the truth by Lyin' Ryan at the RNC
was an embarrassment to any American.

It’s not just a metaphor
These times, this life
We’ve got to make **** momentarily suffice
And when you try to fight it
And when you try to lose it
Sometimes you find you just,
Got to roll in it
Sometimes you find you’ve just
Won back the ****
There’s a taste that you don’t wanna swallow
Yeah try for meaning but you feel so hollow
Memories linger sweet and still its
Hard oh
You can’t find what, what you’re lookin for
Can’t find what, what you’re lookin for
No… yeah, no
---Another verse inspired by Mother Mother and Ryan Guldemond's chords! Love this group!!! The "yeah, no" is very much inspired by their song "Letter"...one of my favorite songs of all time :)
My favorite lyrics from that song:
"Love is just a syllable, and pain's the same
So is it just a little overkill writing the days away?"
Brilliance, no? --sorry, badly fangirling. XD ------
I was blessed to officiate at our son (Ryan’s) and his now wife (Amy’s) wedding yesterday…the only person at the wedding who was turned the other way.
From my unique perspective I was acutely and proudly aware
of Amy…of Ryan…of our families…and of all their friends and families seated there.
If you watch the news you might conclude that love in this world is on the decline…
but turned the other way at a wedding…I assure you…love…is doing just fine.
At their wedding love was palatable…you could feel it in the air…
It was in every smile, every touch, every kiss…it was literally…everywhere.
You could feel it beginning to swell even before the ceremony had begun…
It was in the silent hugs between a mother and her daughter…
and a mother and her son.
It was in the eyes of the parents as…for their children…a new day was about to dawn…
Happy for the moment…wondering where the time had gone.
It was how we paused a moment…to enjoy a moment that will never again repeat…
it was in how we remembered Amy’s Granny up in heaven…
even saved her a front row seat.
It was in the tears of two mothers as they watched their son and daughter on this momentous day…and in the tears of a father as he stepped up and gave his daughter away.
It was reflected in Ryan and Amy’s eyes…and in the eyes of all in attendance too
It hung in the air in silence the moment they said ‘I do’.
It was in Sue and Rob and Deborah as they joined me…
sharing a final moment together before the ceremony was done…
Holding each other in a circle of love…two families…now one.
And it continued at the reception…all the different types of love I found…
everywhere I looked…every time I turned around.
Yes, I was happily reminded that love is thriving
while officiating Amy and Ryan’s wedding yesterday….
happy to see love in it’s endless shapes and sizes…
all while turned the other way.
As I sit wandering about the south
side of Chicago captured effortlessly
by the tall dandelions watching the
lightening bugs rest on sunken cattails
we often lit them just before the sun
sets over George Washington Carver
campus deep within the forest preserve
over looking the Dan Ryan expressway
just to keep the mosquitoes at bay there
are always so many not even the
swarming dragon flies feasting could
truly silence them I sit pondering away
with my thoughts on the Pullman strike
and the hay market projects writing poetry
in my journal as quiet as a mouse an yet I
always had something to say the orange sky
began to drift as a blanket of stars started
twinkling in a distant over the railroad
tracks I can here the loco motive rolling
down the broken planks-cotton belt
screeching down the steal beams fresh
bread will be served tonight with my
grandmothers famous Sicilian soup
right about now I here her calling my
name Cocoa cocoa put that book
down and get in here for supper it’s
getting dark you know I stuck my
pencil inside my braid and begin
skipping towards the gardens homes
that were actually built 1945 name after
Congressman John Altgeld for war
veterans returning from WWll and their
families there simply was no greater
peace right away I got to roll the lemons
cutting them for fresh lemonade and
begin asking all kinds of questions about
where do the bugs go at night how
do they sleep and why do lightning
bugs come out just before dust then
die out after we catch them and put
them in a jar the rest just vanish my
dad answered all my questions as I
began to drift off to sleep he carries
me upstairs to bed tucks me in removed
my pencil from my braid and
places my journal on my nightstand
dims the light as my mind starts to
dream of my tomorrows adventures
Super Bowl LI Hype Rocks Houston And Viewers
Superbowl LI promises to be one helluva game
With the Patriots and Falcons vying for championship claim
Houston will stage the uplift off this Sunday, February 5th
As a global audience watches the fireworks on the field rift
QB's Brady of the Patriots and Ryan of the Falcons square off
On the field as field generals igniting the rockets to blastoff
With head coaches of the respectful teams inch to lighting the fuses
Belichick of the PATS and Quinn of the Falcons also threw darts to amuse
Pregame banter to wit, Belichick said the Falcons never beat us
Answered by the Falcons saying stop throwing us under the bus
To the fans perspective let's get this baby settled on the field
With Falcon's top offense versus the PATS top defense, let's see who wields
As much as the fireworks on the field shadows the game
It will be the commercials and halftime-show heightening the flame
Lady Gaga and her Tiffany brand headline the halftime show
As the Budweiser, Skittles, Snickers, Buick ads to name a few try to woe
Who ever knows the outcome of this game should be in Vegas
But it's fun to listening to fans proclaiming which team is the greatest
One thing for sure the day should be festive of good cheer and food
As the rites of passage, Superbowl, is television's most viewed
To the winners, million steps they be dancing in the moon light
And to the losers, millions of tears drowning their sorrows of slight
This should be a fun game to see if the PATS, being top layers
Can fiend off the the Falcons, yearning to be dragon slayers

I demand Justice,
For the world's hatred, a blight,
Justice for the innocent's tragic plight,
Where evil prospers in the night,
Like shadows dark, obscuring light.
I demand Justice,
For black lives' suffering, deep and stark,
The violence's pain leaves a lasting mark,
Gunshots ring out, like a predator's bark,
As if life's worth is just a lark.
I demand Justice,
For Ryan Gainer's untimely end,
Shot three times, a life to rend,
As if his fate they could bend,
Such cruelty, we cannot pretend.
I demand Justice,
Tired of homes targeted, hearts torn,
Tired of excuses for lives worn,
Tired of the innocent being shorn,
By violence, leaving families forlorn.
I demand Justice,
Ryan was no demon or beast,
To withstand bullets, to say the least,
His strength not that of a fierce beast,
But a troubled teen, his pain released.
I demand Justice,
No excuse for taking a life's breath,
No justification in facing death,
Life's value beyond measure or depth,
Why steal it away, with every breath?
I demand Justice
For now and evermore,
Let fairness and equality soar,
Justice, our beacon, forevermore.
