With sincere gratitude, we commend them midst bliss:
foremost are parents showering unconditional love from hearts abyss…
brother and sisters, great siblings for their support
as well as cheering friends who show caring escort…
teachers, mentors, counselors in their constant reaching-out
ministering, imparting truth and wisdom without doubt…
neighbors, colleagues, fellows presenting worthy community involvements
along peace and order sentinels toward good progress engagements…
pets like our cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, hamsters as relievers of stress
not forgetting our gardens with plants and flowers, pacifying distress…
hobbies against rigorous schedule, bestowing sweet pleasure
work, job, task and chores, upholding or adding to financial treasure…
nature, environment, parks, home of refuge serving as security-haven
sanctuary or worship places that bring our souls nigh to heaven…
how about trials and sufferings that develop virtuous attitude
sustaining will-power, enhancing prayerfulness’ fortitude…
numerous can still be added since we are always blest
with givers*, (including ourselves) that unselfishly, contribute the best.

If age is a constant then daydreams and nightmares
will cease to exist when the best of life is achieved
as maturity stabilizes at a level of immaturity favors
the innocence in confidence-mired ill-retrieved
those hopelessly enwrapped by rhetorical triggers
stemmed by the proposer amongst the ill-believed
'tis liken a heist at gunpoint to corner those regretters
to have brains (methinks) to cusps their mind deceived
and churned their souls to enter their relievers
and entertain the premature notion that they conceived
participants to ascertain the wherewithal of achievers
better or best consciously the line of inquiry perceived
to mull over and enter the zone as one of the leavers
to post with the best, to the winners be my best-wished.
At the ballpark in a sequestered location
are baseball pitchers waiting in isolation.
They ready themselves for a bad situation.
When starting pitchers falter, they are called upon.
The call goes to the bullpen, and they toss the ball.
The fans can see them “warming up” behind a wall.
If their teams are in danger of losing the lead,
the managers summon them during time of need.
If the pitcher on the mound’s outcome is in doubt,
relievers take their places to seek the third out.
Left or right-handed, they cannot break when bending.
With each “save”, the contests have a happy ending.
Forgiveness is a dilemma -
Offering goodness freely where none was given,
can suppress rightful anger, grief,
accountability, cause and guilt.
There are two sides to the rub for
getting mutual relief, and getting over the hurt caused.
It relievers the burden of resentment.
It regains the sense of control, with peace after turmoil.
It repairs trust and resets mutual understanding.
But, what forgiveness gives,
it can take away and be harmful as well.
It can suppress rightful anger and grief, you may need to feel.
It can be a form of denial, laughing it off, taking it on the chin.
It can open you up to repeats with no consequences.
Not forgiving, not forgetting,
can be a grim form of protection and learning,
building resilience, making you stronger
in the face of adversity.
Some wounds need justice, not silence and
acceptance disguised as graceful forgiveness.
What gives with forgiveness
is what it gives to the giver,
first and foremost, in the dilemma flip.
For a team to compete in a pennant chase,
they need quality at first, second, and third base.
Players are needed that can hit and field.
Three more are required to complete the outfield.
To field line drives or grounders on the hop,
any team also needs a quality shortstop.
No squad can ever be considered great
if they don’t have a good catcher behind the plate.
Any club needs four or five dependable starters.
To finish the game, a good corps of relievers.
A contending team has a fine pitching staff.
Anything less than that would be a laugh.
In order to reach the top position,
a team has to outscore the opposition.
They need more wins than the competition.
This is any team’s annual mission.
The team from Philadelphia is considered great.
They put it all together in 2008.
The season ended with a World Series victory.
That’s what meeting expectations means to me.
I have got it half right,
I took on board,
The advice from an educational video,
As part of my advanced leadership training as a Cub Leader,
Obtaining my wood beads.
The video showed a clued up boss,
Talking about catching his staff doing things right,
And the lengths he went to catch them in the act.
I took that on board,
With my abilities to get the best of any staff,
Especially relievers,
As I did a lot of relieving as an ECE Teacher,
Including as relieving supervisor.
Yet when It came to,
Catching my now ex wife doing things right,
I never quite transferred the skill to that area of my Life.
Maybe it is not too late,
To do better at it in my next relationship,
As at 72 I am still a spring chicken,
With my marbles only slightly chipped.
According to my doctor,
And the test I aced to prove it.
