You played a small part in “The Dirty Dozen”.
However, I never saw you in a movie again.
You had some more success in the recording studio.
There are a couple of hit songs I am happy to know.
Those are, “If I Had a Hammer”, and “Lemon Tree”.
Both songs have pleasant lyrics and melody.
Years later, those tunes still appeal to me.
Well, I can relate to your song “Lemon Tree”.
A sad episode recently happened to me.
What I went through bears strong similarity.
I met a woman I mistakenly thought was true.
Suddenly she absconded and bid me adieu.
Well Trini, I have a good idea how you feel.
My similar experience unfortunately was real.
And here I am again completely weird
But the clock it just keeps on ticking
But not the only reason why I'm tired
And my eyes they keep on flickering
When outside all these flashing lights
The sound of cars keep whishing on by
It's no good all these sleepless nights
If I could get some blink in shut eye
I keep on telling myself sweet dreams
Though most of the time they are vivid
It's like I'm jumping in and out of scenes
And only leaves one restless and livid
Yeah I defiantly need some more r,e,m's
It's like this bad case of sleep depravation
I'm often asked where is it that it all stems
Though I've never been one for relaxation
I need some more rapid eye movement
If I could get some of those sweet lullaby’s
Of course that would be an improvement
To those bags that are under my eyes
Thoughts keep going round in my head
If I could give some rest to my aching bod
I've just got to start getting myself to bed
Though still trying to find the land of nod
Something wanted to write about for a while
couple of verse not to happy with might update in futre
just getting some thoughts out of my head
im sure a lot of people can relate to this
when in my ywenties did not need as much
but so much going on at times find it hard to relax
get in to that third stage of sleep

Have you ever started at the bottom
And was wondering how you will make it to the top
You couldnt see it
Your vision blurred
Seems like all your obstacles occurred
What did you do
You faced them
Dr King had a dream
He said chase them
So you stop sitting
And there was no quitting
A whole lot of go getting
No longer in silence
Let your voice be heard
You can fly
Be the courageous bird
Dont give up
You can do it
Just put your mind to it
He chose love
Somehow lots still choose hate
How can you relate
We should build each other up
If its to much
Lessen the cup
Know what you are worth
Sometimes it takes alot
To turn the other cheek
Dont get it twisted dosent make you weak
It makes you courageous
No matter the stages
"The ultimate measure of a man
Is not always where he stands"
Dr King knew the plan
He spoke his truth
He did it for all of us
Tried to protect the elderly and the youth
He didnt choose violence or silence
He chose to stamp it and had the world behind it
He left his mark and his legacy
He left room for unity , equality ,he left room for apologies
He left room for you to right your wrongs
He left room for us to overcome
And to become one
One nation, one sound
Tilt your head put on your crown
Left visions
Made decisions
Exercised our rights
He didnt want to dim our lights
We are smart, we do our part
You see he never saw color
He saw the characteristics
We can Change the world
Come on let's fix it
Never give up on your dreams
Turn them into a reality
Thank you Dr King

I'm sorry, Debs, to write this poem so late!
I needed time to think what to create!
I give you couplets now that number eight
with birthday thoughts I’ve mono-rhymed with “ate.”
I’ll tell you first that I appreciate
your poetry; I think that it is great!
With clever use of words you fascinate
and offer models all can emulate.
I also love the way that you relate
to people; different views you tolerate!
Respected by your peers, you gravitate
to truth and knowledge, and you educate.
You make an effort to facilitate
good dialogue, avoiding words of hate.
I’ll finish with some wishes. . . Hope you ate
an awesome cake and had a perfect date!
May Karma smile on you and satiate
your life with bliss so joy will be your fate!
And lastly, with this new year on your plate,
be glad, like me, you cannot procreate!
Once a vibrant young woman,
Once a vibrant young man,
Son, brother, husband,
A mother, daughter bride.
Nursing homes filled with lost hope, love, kindness sincerity, purpose, spirituality for GODS love, why do I relate to these forgotten souls?
A mom, wife, PCA, still able to work, live on my own, society’s shameful neglect has taken my willingness to be accepted, by own family.
Empty halls filled with only nursing staff, rooms with the forgotten souls of GODS sons and daughters, wives, fathers, husbands, veteran of war, He Gaveth of HIS life for our country yet He sits alone with only a tv to entertain.
Hopeful for a family friend to come visit if only for a smile, laugh, cup of coffee, talk of his life in the military, yet no one comes, why do I feel their pain?
A mother of four grown boys, a homemaker, a woman of faith, hands with whom cooked home cooked meals, hours spent playing board games, countless hours putting puzzles together on a small town winter night.
We are only here for awhile, nobody is promised tomorrow, yet life has consumed our time, work, social media, these men and woman have lived their life doing for US as moms and grandmas, is it too much to ask of US to be hands and feet of Jesus to spend a hour or two being what they were selflessly to US?
Let’s not be the generation of today who are too self absorbed to be there for them, remember we too will be here someday, sitting alone with no windows to seek sunlight or see the snow gently falling, hear the birds singing, talk of our daily lives, the gift of our time, is worth seeing a simple smile upon their face.
Lord Heavenly Father ministered to everyone, no time did HE keep, visit the forgotten Souls, to bring a smile, better that than to hear them weep.
It's time for the battle to end
Lay down your arms why can't we just be friends
Life wasn't meant to be this way
It's time for us to stop the fighting today
The young we bring into life must see
That peace is what we want to achieve
Its time for the battle to end
Lay down your arms why can't we just be friends
Life wasn't meant to be this way
It's time for us to stop the fighting today
The bloodshed has gone on to long
Why must the innocent be scorned
For what did they ever do wrong
It's time for the battle to end
Lay down your arms why can't we just be friends
Life wasn't meant to be this way
It's time for us to stop the fighting today
Open your eyes and look around
What have you achieved in this land
There's nothing but greed, misery and hate
Is this what we really want to relate
It's time for the battle to end
Lay down your arms why can't we just be friends
Life wasn't meant to be this way
It's time for us to stop the fighting today
Now's the time to find a better way
Restore the peace and hope we need
Just put an end to the fighting please
It's time for the battle to end
Lay down your arms why can't we just be friends
Life wasn't meant to be this way
It's time for us to stop the fighting today

My story is filled with mistry, history, romance, horror, drama, and so much more. I attempted to write a book on my life once, but I didn't know where to start. I thought about starting from the beginning, but that would take too long. I thought about starting with my dramatic and gruesome past, but maybe that would be too much. I think everybody has a story just screaming to be heard. We all have something to contribute rather good, or bad. My life is a mixture of them both, and my story has made me who I am. If my life was a ride it would be a rollercoaster with lots of twists and turns with the many lessons I have learned. My story has helped me to relate, and when I say I know how it feels I actually can keep it real. I know how it feels to be hurt, I know how it feels to have lost. I know how it feels to think you are about to go insane, and your life is filled with so much pain. The ups and downs in my life have taken me for a wild ride. I know how it feels when you want to bury your head with the feeling of hurt, and shame. My life has been filled with good moments too, the best thing to happen in my life is the life I gained with Jesus Christ.
Swamp Critters
Problem Solvers Or Nut’s?
Miracle Man
2/1/2024
America’s problems, mortal man can’t solve,
and elected officials seem to watch time evolve.
Things of importance to them, they negotiate,
much of which the average person can’t relate.
“For the good of the American people” is a pet line,
they’re paid big bucks just to argue and whine.
They seldom agree so they’re swift to impeach,
later praising self, in some meaningless speech.
Political parties have become one giant wedge,
each telling a story that’s seldom as they allege.
Our current border problems they are ignoring,
perhaps that’s the reason I hear loud snoring.
A swamp filled with critters that hiss and spew,
but In congress what they say, we’re forced to do.
I'm trying my hardest to portray
That through all this sadness I'm still sane
But my mind is racing, I can't break free
Will someone please rescue me
I'm sick of feeling the way I do
But the past is making me feel so blue
What can I do to make things better
Maybe I'll start by writing a letter
Pen to paper, thoughts set free
The way you loved me damaged me
A black cloud over me always there
Pain and torture iv had my fair share
Maybe there was always something wrong me
Maybe the truth will set me free
Maybe darkness was my fate
Maybe others can relate
Simple things I can no longer do
Broken hearted through and through
What usually brings me so much joy
Makes me mad and makes me annoyed
Music is my therapist
Since day one, headphones in bought me bliss
But now I just let the songs play
I don't even think "she" could make me stay
I don't want to die, I'm not suicidal
But I feel I'm just fighting for survival
Smile on my face, but my mind is blank
I just want to take my life back
Coming up are lots of unknowns
When I think the worse I feel so alone
Many have hurt me, I ignored it all
Now I feel that was my downfall
If I had stood up for myself and put up a fight
Would all of the wrongs be made right
Or would she still stopped loving me
I suppose the future is not for us to forsee
I'm trying my hardest to stay afloat
My mind in darkness, so these poems I wrote
Music playing but no joy yet
So I'll sit here and light another cigarette
My heart has never been so broken
Failed as a child, my truth never spoken
For all that happend is now in the past
I know this sadness won't always last
I'm letting you know I'm still sane
I will fight through all this pain
I will make it through to the other side
But there are still so many tears left to cry
Broken hearts do eventually mend
I won't let this be my end
When all is better and all said and done
Maybe I'll see I'm the lucky one
I say I'm fine, but I'm miserable
But being happy is preferable
Complicated playing followed by I'm with you
Her music and love will see me through
I'm trying my hardest to portray
That through all this sadness I'm still sane
Enough lies and games have been played
That's the end of my poem, I'm glad you stayed
I found a notebook in blowing trash
left by an elder moving away.
Did she not want to keep it, I asked
Won't fit, one room, is all she would say.
She was bidding farewell to her home
of sixty-five years: she was too old
to live among ghosts she said would roam
I saved book to see what would unfold.
Opening the book, enchantment poured:
watercolors on each wind-torn page.
children, garden blossoms fondly stored,
ladies, beads in hair: the Flapper Age!
I was enthralled. An artist she was!
Beside each drawing, a note left, too.
She was a treasure living near us
I feel ashamed that none of us knew.
We tend to equate old with past tense,
behind the times, so we hesitate.
Of distant years, and her added sense
tales she could tell if we would relate.
Yellow flowers I took in blue bowl,
and visited with her a long while
I said, to hear her tales was my goal,
and saw the beginning of her smile.
