The death penalty, a practice rooted in antiquity, continues to evoke controversy and ethical dilemmas in modern society. Despite its purported role in deterring crime and administering justice, the death penalty stands on shaky moral ground and should be abolished for several compelling reasons.
Firstly, the irreversible nature of the death penalty is inherently flawed. In a justice system prone to human error, the risk of executing an innocent person is ever-present. Numerous cases worldwide have revealed wrongful convictions, highlighting the fallibility of judicial proceedings. Once a life is taken, there is no recourse for rectifying such a grievous mistake, perpetuating an irreversible injustice that stains the fabric of society.
Moreover, the death penalty undermines the fundamental value of human life. By sanctioning state-sanctioned killings, societies diminish the sanctity of life and condone violence as a means of resolving conflicts. Such a stance contradicts the principles of compassion, rehabilitation, and forgiveness, which should underpin any civilized society's legal framework.
Furthermore, the death penalty fails to achieve its purported goal of deterrence. Empirical evidence suggests that the threat of capital punishment does not significantly deter individuals from committing heinous crimes. Instead, socioeconomic factors, mental health issues, and systemic inequalities often drive criminal behavior. Investing in preventative measures, such as education, poverty alleviation, and mental health services, would yield more effective and humane solutions to reducing crime rates.
Critics argue that the death penalty provides closure to victims' families and serves as a form of retribution. However, vengeance should not be conflated with justice. Studies have shown that the prolonged legal processes and endless appeals associated with death penalty cases exacerbate the victims' families' trauma, prolonging their suffering rather than offering closure.
In conclusion, the abolition of the death penalty aligns with the principles of justice, compassion, and human rights. By rejecting this antiquated and morally dubious practice, societies can move towards a more enlightened and humane approach to criminal justice—one that prioritizes rehabilitation, reconciliation, and the inherent worth of every individual.
The grave was freshly dug
Just awaiting the arrival of the body
Four Ghosts stood silent in wait
They had waited a long time
The waiting was over
The gravestone would remain nameless
There would be no mourners
No prayers goodbye
The body was checked for the final time
A customary nod would start proceedings
The coffin was placed into the hole
The gravediggers quickly shovelled the earth back into place.
No words were spoken
Satisfied, they left
Four Ghosts stood silent in wait

Descending
the rabbit hole
of debt
as he gambles
away his hard-earned
money, his...
life is...
spiraling
downward.
His marriage
turns shaky
as his wife threatens
divorce proceedings if...
he
keeps self-destructing.

His documentation will be presented in court
Prosecutor and Mason fight in brief fought
The Prosecutor will think otherwise
Mr. Mason intends to energize
His client, Jen Davis, who is married to a billionaire being her husband, Javier Davis
Mr. Davis had been unfaithful during the marriage, and has been cheating with a mistress, Diane Solomon, a Dancer at a Strip Club
Without the warning nor suspicion, Mr. Davis was murdered
The murderer left swiftly, but Mr. Mason and his team are bound to find evidence full of clues
Was it rivalry of Mr. Davis wife or someone else?
Perry Mason and his team are definitely going to find out

Harold Puzzles takes the stand
He asked questions after questions
Suddenly he crushes into confession that he killed Mr. Davis
The pressure was too great, and the Perry Mason confronted about the crime being that Mr. Puzzles was Mr. Davis business partner for years, but he cut out of Mr. Davis Will, and if he wasn’t getting the fortune no one will
Case solved
All suspicion was on Mr. Davis wife and mistress
But someone else was involved in the murder
Mr. Puzzles was the outcome with no one suspecting
At least not until Perry Mason went deeper into the investigation

I am beginning to understand
Why when it comes to some
things in life
A referees is deemed to be required
to preside over proceedings
So neither party gets to bend the
rule's or gain an unfair advantage
Problem is if that referee is human
and not a computer
Unwittingly they will also be biased and
prejudice as every human is
And it's then left up to there own
individual interpretation of the rules
As apposed to if the referee is a
computer
Which basis all it's answers and
decisions on something logical
As 2 simply yes or no
Because human beings are far more
complex
And require a multiple choice of
options
Like yes , no , emotions , feeling
all or none of the above
Down to do I tick or place an x
And should it be in a circle or a box
Until we eventually come to the point
where all we can think is
Sorry I've lost my train of thought

and my options are
I said I was going to make myself
a cup of coffee
Did you want one as well
You then answered yes
So I said
Do you have
Or
Don't you want
Milk and sugar
In yours
Sometimes life can get a little rough

Sounds like good advice
Grinning and baring it can be a whole lot more fun
But make sure your friends have all gone home
And the kiddies are tucked away in their beds fast asleep
Before you and your mate start prancing around in the nude
Doing and saying all those naughty things
Like, “nice melons you have there my dear”
This starts the whole proceedings
She responds with, “nice frontal protrusion!”
Immediately, the fun begins and the house starts rockin'
All because you, “Grinned And Bared it!”

Rumor has it on heavens above
Among the angels’ divine sphere
That God after very much though
Decided in man’s life to interfere
2.
For He has observed Man’s mistakes
Which lately too many came to be
To endanger the whole of creation
Act with which God can never agree
3.
So the Lord has most recently chosen
The book of life before long to reprint
Revising certain of its very old chapters
While others out will leave, He has hint
4.
The concern of humans is now to know
Which chapters the book will not contain,
Which are going to be, somehow, revised
And which intact will forever remain
5.
What was heard through the vine though,
It was Man’s huge and unbearable vanity
That made our almighty Lord and creator
To finally exclude the chapter of humanity
6.
The reason our God in His infinitive wisdom
Reached such unexpected for Mankind conclusion
Is the fact that Man during his reign on earth
Has hurt our planet with his insensitive intrusion
7.
It might still be time for Man overall to be saved
If he started correcting his many mistakes soon
Beginning by respecting life and the whole planet
And stop behaving as a dim-witted buffoon.

climate change isn’t some kind of future hypothetical,” said Chris Field, one of
the two main authors of the report, and Rajendra Pachari chair of the IPCC
(Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) added: “Nobody on this planet
is going to be untouched by climate change.” For that UN suggested measures
to be taken immediately for to save the planet.
Moreover, the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences ( PNAS),
announced that " Researchers have found out that pollutants are strengthening storms ...plus endanger the health of people."
whence place thy sight up above thine shoulders,
as it tarries to see no one but thee alone,
even when thy path seemeth crooked,
and goest astray like a lost wondering sheep,
ye durst wax in the Barn of thine selfishness.
Thy ego seem so high to accept rebuke
and chastisement, at war with thy virtues.
Been sober, thy countenance speaketh not,
submitting only to thy will and thy will alone.
Always wanting to so'er up high,
but impatient to beget wings.
Ye only bequeath Love for thy honour
and thy appreciation, dost for thy increase.
Art thou worthy of thine brag?
Nay! But thy acclaim, betwixt fame and glory.
Loudest in the proclamation of thy victories,
like a conqueror from whence sing of his battles
and a Merchant, fullsome and majestic.
Thy Robe, when touched or felt by she below,
light up fire from the fuel of thy Anger.
Henceforth, beseech not thy friends,
for their company art thou ruthlessly bargained
with the proceedings of thy wanton folly.
Verily, verily this cancer-worm soweth deeply,
like the root of a deciduous Tree
and just before its leaves wither away,
the path to destruction befalls thee
and behold! the time to take heed hath by-passed thee.
Thy redemption, more difficult than building Rome
because the cup of thy transgression hath gone full.
I-Robby
Robby had been married going on eight years,
2hen his Marie demanded a divorce,
whe had been planning, lawyering up,
and instantly dragged it into the court.
Poor Robby had not seen it coming,
he thought things had been going quite well,
he could barely deal with loosing his love,
much less navigating Family Court hell.
Worst still Marie had cleaned out their accounts,
so he had to borrow from his parents,
just to afford a junior lawyer,
in truth, Robby was unable to bear it.
Being separated from his two boys,
being along with no partner if life…
What could he have done to ever have earned
the enmity of his once loving wife?
The proceedings, they just kept dragging on,
and Robby faced insurmountable bills,
then one day Marie claimed that he’d hit her,
that his temper was always set to kill?!
Robby’s family gawked in disbelief,
their boy never even been in a fight,
they all tried to say the Marie had lied,
but she played the judge’s sympathies right.
Men don’t fare well in Family Courts,
in the end Rob lost near sixty percent,
add the that alimony, child support,
and no custody of his two children.
The young men felt his world crashing on down,
but the worst of it was yet to come,
Marie’s claims made their way up to his boss,
and within weeks, Rob’s position was gone.
When he told the judge he was out of work,
and his payments would have to be changed,
she said,”I’ll have to investigate this,
many dead-beats go to lengths to not pay.”
That dragged on for several long months,
and Robby was already long broke,
one morning a cop waited on his front door,
and with a sneer, glared at Robby and spoke:
“We have got a complaint that you have not
paid up on this month’s child support.
A warrant has been issued for your arrest,
I really hate dealing with your sort!”
He tried to explain his words with the judge,
but the officer really didn’t care,
dragged into court, Rob found the same judge,
glowering down at him from her chair.
“Your wife needs those payments to survive,
nut you seem to think this is a joke,
so you’re going to spend a week in jail,
and learn an important lesson, I hope.”
As to the judge’s biased nature,
Robby no longer had any doubts,
and none there knew that when he went away,
never more would he ever come out…

A Patron Provided a Plastic Plaque for the Pickle Picker of the Year.
A Packer won a Prize as top Pickle Purveyor, the Pinnacle of his career!
A quorum was needed but a Passel of People were Pickled in the Pub.
The President was Perturbed, not easily Placated, there in lay the rub!
A Plethora of Pixilated Pickers and Packers Presently repaired,
Protesting that they were Prepared to vote, not in the least impaired!
It was Paramount that the Proceedings not end on a sour note,
So the President Proclaimed a Positive quote for all to Promote:
"We must Project Professionalism and Perfection in great number,
As we Proudly Proclaim the Palatability of the Prosaic cucumber!"
