Listen to the silence,
before the sip of this brewed potion,
an enticing concoction,
Do you hear the harvest ,
The songs oozing from the volcanic sandy loam,
perspiring earthy herbs that graciously glow,
sprinkling notes of the sweetest flowers,
the heavenly dark red golden lake that awaits,
in the ark of this marble mint mug,
For a minute, the rich roast takes hold on to these lungs,
Pulverizing every weight that rests on my ribs,
Singing songs of spring to my winter brain,
Have I been too needy,
for the touch of coffee to run down my throat,
hoping it would wipe away every artery clogging my heart,
Maybe I yearn for these beans way too much,
Or are they simple my subconscious crutch.
Questions of truth, alas become moot--
O'er angry voices, truth seldom heard
Like branches strayed from their mother root
We've strayed then planted another word,
chosen belief in the most absurd.
In times of war, truth begs to be seen,
yet trampled, however one may lean--
Torn in Viet Nam, Afghanistan,
Six O'clock fact or fiction routine:
fingers pointing at every man.
Why is truth killed when war needs it most?
That question is asked through the ages,
Perhaps lies dwell in a virus host,
Or, we need truth meted in stages,
lies bake troubled souls as war rages.
Truth rests among those--the dead of war.
Yet, we also lost truth years before.
Perhaps a new potion we'll soon find
to cure the people and kill lies' spoor
and leave its destruction far behind.

for the "Why is Truth the First Casualty of War and why is That a Fact"
by Sotto Poet
Valentine is a time of love which is endless,
Which sends us nothing but madness.
Feel out of control with desire and passion,
To imagine all we sometimes forget.
Now I can share all the feelings I do not say,
Often enough meaning I love you.
If I combine all the emotion of love with each,
Moment it is like a potion that will never end,
So much time will never go wasted on us,
It is like a painting that will never fade away.
Our true love cannot use translated words,
It can only show through our imagination.
The love I share with you will never be jaded.
I love you truly and forever.
She gave me a drink
Wine Potion Numer Nine
She said not to worry
in a moment I'd be fine
My head it felt woozy
I finished up the wine
I thought she was a six
Now here she is a nine
I couldn't believe my luck
I think I am in love
She's my little Angel
A gift from up above
My friends are so confused
She must have cast a spell
They say she aint good looking
and there is that awful smell
How could this have happened
I'm still trapped in her spell
In my mind she is a Nine
So I'll kiss and never tell
Lower poem conforms to contest rules for Number 9 Contest
Nine lines Nine words per line. I used nine three times because 3x3 is nine.
I kept the original poem because that was my first inspiration.
She gave me a drink, wine potion number nine
She said "trust me in a moment you'll be fine."
My head felt woozy, I finished up the wine
Who knew a six could end up a nine
My friend warned me it must be a spell
She ain't good lookin and there's that funny smell
Still I see her as an angel I'm captivated
My body and mind are no longer related
I am her slave and she is my Nine.
At any moment in time our thoughts can come through
If that is your true desire you will know what to do
Design a plan, create a path , set it in motion
Hard work and processing is the key not a magic potion
You can do anything in life you just have to believe
Write down what you really want time to succeed
We are a product of all are thoughts stored in our brains
Find the one you need and flush the others down the drain
Do what really makes you happy and brings joy to your life
Take this though bring it into focus, no need to think twice
When you act on a positive thought good things can transpire
Don’t wait until it’s too late, some effort will be required
Our dance began in the spring, it was meant to be.
There was a glimpse of heaven in your perfect smile.
Although imprisoned by desire, I still felt free!
Yet pleasure turned to pain after a little while.
My friends warned me, that I should stay away from you.
Still the heart wants what it wants regardless of cost!
Moments felt like eternity but were too few.
You absorbed my very essence and I was lost.
I fell willingly into your passionate arms.
Upon a pleasured bed I intertwined with you.
My logical mind was overcome by your charms.
I idealized perfection, that's what fools do!
Try as I might to reach your sad and lonely heart.
You never allowed me to touch more than your skin.
It was almost like being, enchanted by art.
Imagining substance, but the canvas was thin.
Fate gifted us passion, we drank from its chalice;
wading through waves of fierce flame increasing ardor.
In summer, your sweet roses covered our palace.
The time away from your touch has become harder.
As I look across a wind-blown spray of ocean,
my mind turns to the sadness of our parting hours
Kneeling, I beg for a distance closing potion
so I can reclaim coveted castle tower.
My wish is to be with you there in your bower.
To see a lovingly longing, desperate face
enshrined in fears deepest depths as we part from clutch.
I remind you distance cannot erase love's trace
or lessen my need to feel your soft, gentle touch.
Last week, I sent you a love-soaked, tear-stained letter;
For I'll return aboard a ship needing your love.
I truly believe no one can love you better,
Yet I fear you'll shatter like a porcelain dove?

I was created
in the image of God, I
Imago Deo
But I am in a
class of my own, I am a
Mathematical
set of one, we all
are a token, Socrates
or me and yes, you
I am a type, which
belongs to a class, but still
I am in a class of
My own, the class
Class identity of me
I think therefore I
Am (it’s not a good
Translation from the Latin)
Cogito Ergo
Sum, even though it
begs the question, it is a
Cartesian set
Je pense, donc je suis
In French, cogitatio fit
Thinking, occurring
Would better describe
this mess, but how would one prove
somebody’s thinking?
Brainwaves? Synapses?
So, we are all in a class
Of our own (imaged)
Philosophically
Personal identity
Is not an option
To a worldview
That is consigned to matter
And motion, no potion
No cerebral bend
Or mental gymnastics can
Account for abstract
Entities, such as
Identity over time
In a class its own
She won’t tell me her name
But I could decipher the puzzle of her fame
Why she embraces politics with no blame
Yet, her reign is pain; as the rule of her game
She has seduced our kings
Creating selfishness in their inns
As she multiplies their gains
And propel us to ruins
This woman blindfolds all sense of innovations
Her honey-bond love leads to degradation
Hence, she distorts progression and gyrates at destructions
Thus, people call her the pleasure that destroys nations
Alas! Her name is corruption
But her actions I would call Delilah’s seduction
For she possesses Samson with her beautiful potion
She is the Greek gift of colonization
