Its the year 2012
Predictions came true
Earth as we know
Has bitten more, than we can chew
Solar flares
Descended today
We knew they were coming
In deadly rays
All it took
From detection to earth
Was fifteen minutes
Sunburst finish
The oceans have risen
The flood plains reclaimed
Millions have been lost
Drowned, homeless or maimed
Its now 2013
And our atmosphere's shattered
With the polar caps melted
We now must do what matters
As we came to terms
The invasion came
Its as if they had waited
For we were their gain
Where they came from
We do not know
They are more advanced than us
As we take blow by blow
Paris my home city
Is under water
The Eiffel Tower distorted
As i watch the slaughter
As i look to the sky
Their mother-ship hovers
With fighters aplenty
We have no place to cover
Belongings, bodies
The stench of disease
As we are constantly pounded
With precision and ease
Our airfields and armies
Obliterated to nil
The human race as it stands
Tastes the bitterest of pill
Then in mid July
We heard some news
From the Atlantic deep
Now Paris is viewing
Three missiles
Broke from the blue
To their mother-ship headed
All aimed and true
Our navies were lost
But the ships of the deep
Escaped the rays
While the polar flares steeped
It took many, many months
As the invaders were brought down
To the waters we have grown used to
It was their turn to drown
Why they were here
We still do not know
For tomorrow is a new day
As us survivors will show
One thing we do know
And we know this for sure
Our world will never be
The way it was before

In the silence of a dying star, I wandered through the cold and empty space,
I, a dimmed light, falling into nothingness, seeking meaning among the shadows,
Until her cosmic pull caught me, called me with her silent voice,
I began to burn with new flames, melting into her mysterious light.
Each second that brought us closer made me lighter, nearer to the dream,
And when impact turned into embrace, I didn’t scatter into space,
I became part of her, merging with her endless, green forests,
In the vast silence of the cosmos, she was no longer alone, but full of song.
I sang in her deep oceans, where waves whispered ancient tales,
I rested in her skies, where clouds danced to rhythms of eternity,
Always held by love’s gravity, a magnetic field of unending desires,
Thus, I became a word spoken by the universe, an incantation of light and shadow.
In existential solitude, I found connection with the invisible universe,
Seeking meaning in cosmic chaos, I discovered the search is the path itself,
My verses flow like an underground river, carrying thoughts as precious gems,
And in this soul’s poetry, I found eternity in a moment of love.
Metaphors dance, esoteric symbols ignite the sky with unknown mysteries,
Ritualistic repetitions invoke a musicality that transports to poetic trance,
In cosmic nostalgia, contemplating mysteries, I became a dream of eternity,
For in her love, I found the lost star, reborn in the harmony of the universe.
I've heard rumors of unicorns
Seen only by the faithful sworn
Rising in glories you foretold
From valleys where oceans are born
You spoke of passages in gold
To take, if my vision was bold
Enough to follow where you led
Unquestioning, into the cold
I fell for promises unsaid
Surrendered to you every shred
Of light and beauty I once had
And to your dark delusions wed
We left as sun-blinded nomads
Criss crossing straight lines into plaid
As I remembered what I knew
Truth re-emerged, brightly unclad
I could pretend that red is blue
I could declare my heart stayed true
I could deny the voice of doubt
But I can't lie as well as you

Succumbing to the allure of lust,
she sought seduction through betrayal.
And acquiesced to her base desires;
in love's realistic portrayal.
Sowed deep within her flirtatious heart,
infidelity's seed got planted.
And nurtured by hope's expectations:
happiness: was taken for granted.
Shunned by all, in an uncaring world,
her reality: overrode theirs.
And with too many sins to forgive,
just gave up on God and her prayers.
A victim of her low self-esteem,
she's cried enough tears to fill oceans.
Thinking that only death can provide
sanctuary from her emotions.
Oblivion calls compellingly;
from the fragmented fringes of pain.
And beset by thoughts of suicide,
she questions if she's going insane.
With stars for eyes
And an armored heart,
I allow myself to desiccate slowly,
Into the tender arms of Mother Earth.
Her embrace may carry me to hereafter,
Or let it hold me until my remains are simply skeletal.
I aim to give back to my mighty planet,
For it has given lives and love,
Expecting nothing but respect in return.
Mother, let me dissipate into the rivers of your skin,
The oceans of your eyes,
The caverns of your mouth.
Father, lay your head down,
For you no longer need to hold the hands of time for me.
All I ask is with the tears in my eyes,
Paint your skies with the hues of my heart
So I can leave in my path unclouded beauty.
From stardust we came,
So to stardust we return.
Let my body rot into the cracks
And crevices of this holy ground,
And leave my lingering energy to
Be swept up by passing winds,
With no route to follow.
The whole truth
and nothing but the fu(king truth
That laws, and math, only help solve
local temporary problems,
All of which fall way short
on the infinite needs scale
were we rely on estimates, theories,
and other manmade truths
Still here we are,
alone on a goldilocks planet
All 8 billion of us milling around,
living our lives
guaranteed nothing
other than this moment
and whatever came before
To think otherwise
would be presumptuously human
As for choice is there really any
other than try feed ourselves
and sate the instinct to survive and thrive
We are a civilisation built on
disparate societal values and creeds
Each day is an imperceptible handover
from one generation to the next,
with no guarantee they’ll do a better job
But the real problem is not truth,
It’s why!
Why anything at all,
Why life
Why the fu(k am I asking these questions
I’m apostate, No!
I have little faith, No!
I am honest, No!
A nihilist, No
It’s because I have a sentient,
curious, unapologetic mind
that compels me to ask why!
Sometimes I think
i’d be better off a sponge
floating in crystal clear turquoise balmy oceans
Soaking up oblivious unintelligible surroundings
Indifferent to mortality and the universe,
popping off a few buds every once in a while,
or whatever sponges
brainlessly do to further their species
Such basic life is so very tempting
but just doesn’t sit right
Never to experience love
however fleeting,
Never to endure pain
However crushing,
Never to feel like throwing in the towel,
Even if just to mop blood
off the floor like a sponge
See, I’ve had moments
unimaginably beautiful,
Alongside unconscionably awful ones,
Moments so real
they can’t have been synthesised
by any stretch of any imagination
I believe a God or the universe
created me as a vessel of interpretation
to perceive itself
from my unique perspective
Well not unique per se,
more a personalised handicapped view
I am nothing and everything
in the grand scheme of things
No more! No less!
One that uses swear words
language you may not like,
yet clearly understand
The weirdest part is not the feeling
I’ve written this fu(ked up poem
in previous carnations
It’s my swearing
just seems to be getting worse

David Kavanagh
My muse is here, seeds in my heart abyss
invokes a soul to wake and open up
a solid earth shall treasure such a bliss
and oceans are spared for me to grow up.
A best seed of Love, a soul, ever to grace
reaching my soil, digging up my gardens
the scent of divine, the mystery of space
enlightens my spirit and my Self heartens.
A flame of Life meant to glow and brighten
the darkest of dark and every sealed whole
the core of awareness, to touch and heighten
lit paths to walk and ascend, one is my dole.
Intense powers moving through my vessels
reloaded beyond control, the pain immense
what permeates my senses is new and special
the flow so mighty, dashing every single fence.
My poetry drinking from that pure well
unstoppable surge running in her veins
seeking fathomless beauties out of her shell
charmed trying to take over the reins.

I sit,sit with this daunting heart break hanging over me
The very essence of my world is crumbling, open your eyes and see
I held on to the ignorance to the reality i wanted to believe
but signs and signals you left along my bitter path the warning you tried to heed
I have held my breath through the anguish of my broken dreams
Now i delve into the oceans, your name on my lips i silently scream..
Catch me, embrace me in bitterness lover of my soul
help me as my bewildered hearts destinies crudely unfold
I have felt a lovers divine kiss on my breath
She lingers there her finger tips reaching into my chest
She holds my still beating heart
Like a broken winged bird like natures works of art........
When shall i release my breath and drive this sorrow from my being
When shall i remove this instrumental temperament that i am foreseeing
when shall i ever forget the lovers kiss...........
when shall my spirit finally seek and find rest
The birds glide, I don’t know why
It gives me reason to sing
So who am I? What can I bring?
The trees grow, the waters flow
To take us far from here
So who are we? Why do we fear?
In all the glories shown to us,
We must give in to our wanderlust
To make amends for wrongs we’ve done
Inspire the dreams, in everyone
The lambs leap, the willows weep
To show us we can dance and cry
Don’t live a lie; just ask why
The oceans latch, seashells laugh
There’s always an escape
To the martyr’s smile, on the sun’s sweet dial
In all the glories shown to us,
We must give in to our wanderlust
To make amends for wrongs we’ve done
Inspire the dreams, in everyone
Don’t let it fade,
Don’t hold it down
The sky is open for us now
Just let them fly,
Those hurts we keep
Inspire the heart, inspire the dream!
In all the glories shown to us,
We must give in to our wanderlust
To make amends for wrongs we’ve done
Inspire the dreams, in everyone
In everyone
Inspire the dreams, in everyone
*This song is a collaboration with my older brother, Robert, who was inspired by two hawks soaring around each other earlier today. Younger brother, David, implemented some sweet harmonies that makes this song really special! *
Perhaps creating too many companies
would use to much of the world resources
yet investing in farms would grow more crops
Perhaps creating more companies
would use up the world's resources
yet perhaps, what we need most, is entertainment
Even during the war
they realised that their troops needed fun
even during war they realised
to have a settled army
you need entertainment
stimulate the troops to keep order
perhaps we need a certain percentage of our wage
locked in to providing entertainment
employing the unemployed
for jobs that create an entertaining world
why should we waste money
and get nothing in return
We focus on profit
and yet what we need most
is to focus on life
perhaps
what we need is companies,
that improve the world's resources
our sea's depleted of fish
perhaps fish farms
would be the path to take
we already have salmon farms
perhaps investing in more
would be a good idea
perhaps it's solar power
that creates the greatest growth
investments can improve the world
working together investing every week
we could build farms
to restock our oceans
we could build farms
to feed the starving people
creating jobs so they can afford to buy
we could build solar power
to create a cleaner air
we could create desalination plants
to turn our deserts into farms
we could rebuild the forests
to create a living home
as human beings we could see
the problems we share
as hurdles to overcome
Perhaps other people
have better ideas
hope they lead to a better world
