When Dentist Calls

When Dentist Calls

Clear white tiny whirring brook spirals porcelain down
Monitored through forest of sharp hard objects
In a glare of concentrated artificial brightness
Stark forms, silver entities, probe my thoughts
Through my tooth roots to get to the truth
There are still more things to come
Dentist and assistant fill my mouth with wisdom and cotton
Where my Marlon Brando Godfather impression takes place
Along with x-rays of a few bad teeth acting up or acting out a scene
My mouth becomes that void, that black hole
With which a need to fill it
With everything in the cosmos, becomes apparent
Apparatuses, appendages, products from unknown Asian markets
Go in and disappear
Dentist looks satisfied with his new creation
The interrogation begins
I blink my approval as the needles go in.
My tongue is the first to stray into slurs as doctor quips,
“And gargle please and spit!” “That’s it!” “Open big!” “Tell me everything!”
I remembered a story as a boy
As my mouth and face melt away
And the whirring spirals porcelain down to dentists call

Premium Member What Are Objects Question Mark

What are objects?

a silly question many will say
an interruption to things of importance..
the chair is the chair..now on to my
daily schedule..uninterrupted please..
however..after much searching to
satisfy desires..pausing with the question
might be finally reconsidered..finding that
an inbred belief in objects can be rattled
with attention to experience..telling of the
frailty of of such belief..
we experience in wholes..not in chairs
claiming their independence..
the chair reconsidered shows up as
perception temporarily..then perceiving..
a walking back to the Reality which
has been quietly waiting for
recognition..
those objects we knew before the question
now appear as they always appeared
but somehow now..satisfying the desires
we had painfully pursued...

Saved From the Fire

Inspired by a storyline from a show. But absolutely applicable to all parents. Let's remember that we love people more than we love things.

Saved from the fire
By Michelle Morris

You surround yourself
With opulence and ego
Beautiful paintings by the masters
Making you feel that you have no equal

You forget that class
Is not defined by the things you own
It's reflected in your character
The way you treat everyone you know

When you focus on your possessions
Love things more than people
Your loved ones will feel hurt
Hearts bruised and minds reeling

It's a difficult situation
No one should have to compete
Against inanimate objects
That make your life complete

But when you care way more
About saving a painting from the fire
You risk alienating affection
Putting relationships on a pyre

Things saved from the fire
Cannot replace love and affection
And relationships destroyed by desires
Cannot be fixed by your obfuscation

Take time to evaluate
How you're treating those you claim to care for
And remember that love is in our actions
Not just pretty words we say for point scoring

Surround yourself with love and joy
For real people who share your world
Don't focus on wealth and prestige
For their power won't save your soul's turmoil

Premium Member Tritanopia

Most people can see that the sky is blue.
It is not difficult to see that the ocean is too.
Green is the color of grass and buds in the spring.
Its appearance signifies the renewal of everything.
We owe the color of green to the chloroplast.
It ensures that life on the earth will last.
So many things on the earth are green or blue.
Ubiquitous are objects with either hue.
However, there are some with a rare condition.
With blue or green, they can make no distinction.
It is due to the absence of blue receptors in the retina.
This inherited condition is known as “Tritanopia”.

Thanks to wikipedia.org online encyclopedia for the information I obtained to write this poem.

.
The Four Obstacles
.
The first obstacle is Sleep
Or the lack of control over it
To be overcome by discipline
The Body Mind neither deprived - nor overindulgent
.
The second obstacle is distraction
of senses towards exterior objects
The world as experienced by senses- is an obstacle
.
The third obstacle is Memory of past- experiences
.
The fourth obstacle is Bliss Ananda as it- separates
The feeling ‘I am enjoying’ is a separation
.
The resolution is Samadhana or Samadhi
One becomes ONE with Ananda no separa- tion(s)
No enjoyer enjoyment separation all merge
All ceases into the ocean of SatChitAnanda
There are no Duality. This is SatChitAnanda
.
This is the doctrine of Non Duality: Not Two - but ONE
The argument goes -
If God created the world; the God and World - are two
.
If God IS the creation then there is no duality
.
Advaita says that world(ly) is a manifestation
There is only ONE that is perceived as many
There is ONE that manifests itself variously
There is ONE- IT dwells in each and every
The ONE is projected on myriad screens
.
Who believes it? Not even Vivekananda
When master explained to young Naren
He responded - Are you telling me this kettle is God ??

Premium Member The Evil Hands of Tyranny

See “The Evil Hands of Tyranny” gripping coils and springs,
As they crush the throats and lives of all innocent people
Who cry for fairness and justice—but get only a deaf ear.

Dealing cards falsely makes a laughing stock of us all,
While we gaze at that “Dark Spirit” with his ghastly grin
And evil intentions to steal our very souls like Mephisto.

From power hungry fools—greed envelopes all who pay
Attention not to the real evil that some men do to others,
But to those who appear to be fooling themselves true.

This brings pain, suffering, bitterness—and not peace,
And disturbs mankind’s harmony and hope for a better
Existence as the rapacious “Dogs of War” are unleashed.

Twisting wars to suit underlying issues is that all-too
Occurrence in our world as the young, old, and weak
Face “The Grim Reaper” who snickers at this chance.

The rich get richer with ill regard, or even no regard for
Others not so blessed who live this precarious moment,
As the innocent endure such monstrous and virulent evil.

This manifests itself in a hideous mask of hateful deceit
And true lies toward any poor person who objects to this
Horrid reality and challenges “The Evil Hands of Tyranny.”

Rain Man

They called him wild although he hardly spoke.
Remote to them to breathe electric air.
He moaned in thought before the plastic broke.
A soundless pressure wound too tight to bear.

Each toy held codes he opened to translate.
He was not mean but simply born to ask.
No answers came from objects he’d ablate.
Limbs scattered wide aft each intrusive task.

The remnants piled in corners of the room.
In silence, as in graveyards of a kind.
On shelves lie things he swore not to inhume,
but questions still move restless through his mind.

At night he dreams of limbs and twisted wire.
Not wreckage, but a map of his desire

Oenophilia

It's always been an uncanny pleasure of mine,
To behold the tetchy affair that thrives between
A gregarious man and his choice crimson wine;
For each loves and loathes in equaled measure.

How both meticulously give and evenly take
To seal the crack that coerced giving claims,
Each ceding ground and forgoing their cake;
And daily perpetuate these love-hate games.

Firstly as the wistful man uncorks the shields,
You'd guess he'll guard the control he wields;
But when the foamy guest oils that willing gut,
Our bloke capricious grows and red eyes shut.

Consensus is drawn and he should grab more,
For buck's there and calling home stands near;
Just a daring thought and some spoiling for war,
For the world's sick and all stationary objects go.

You own it's a profound sight quite rare and fine,
To meet daring men and their dear crimson wine.
