This Is the Moment

This is the moment
By Michelle Morris
18/10/2020

This is the moment -
You don't have to wait anymore;
Embrace who you are
And release your inner
Shining star...

This is the moment -
You can be your
Magnificent self;
No more fear of family,
Society or friends;
When you are you,
All fear must end...

This is the moment -
Look around you,
Take it in;
Your brightness will
Expand and help others
To win again...

This is the moment -
You can walk proud
And tall;
There is freedom in
Being your best self
And to live as a glowing
Soul forever more...

Living Worlds For Dying Souls

There is this world I do not belong
To have lived long enough to no more care
Living in a world to forever be gone
Yet to wonder... which place and time I'm there?

It isn't despairing times we have to live in
Simply because we have decided already in mild content
Without needs and wants to set in dreams
Can you not accept that not everything goes to plan?

As the world silently change... we change silently
Are we only to realize when fallen from comfort?
We do not realize we change but we change accordingly
And in accordance indeed when masters becomes the nerd

I wish I knew there is another world I'm going
A world in perfection to cower and hide or exhume with pride
Each of worlds promising in radiance and flowing
The one world to perhaps finally live to finally have died

It is because I have had to no longer have cared
For this one world I do not belong
Another world to believe I was born and bred
Perhaps both worlds I'm forever gone

Premium Member Superior Mother

If I feel guilty
Does that make you
Superior Mother
Am I just a bad bad boy
Who’s just to much of a bother!
I guess things haven’t changed much
Since you taught my father

All of your Sisters
Most of them
had that same sour face
I can understand
How children’s laughter
seemed so out of place
Were you afraid it might make your heart race?
If you had one
It didn’t occupy much space
No one at the school was qualified
or equipped to teach Grace
Smack smack
Another kid
For forgetting to tie his shoe lace

Those golden rules
Seemed more like lead
I can still remember that ear pull
It felt like it would come off my head
It was still sore when I went to bed
I guess I shoulda listened
To what you said.
Sorry for making you see red.

Now the school is closed
No more rules or uniform
Me I’m okay now
I wasn’t born to conform
To you I was unpredictable
Kinda like
a thunder storm
I didn’t fit any norm
Sometimes clay can be
Just a bit to hard to form.

Premium Member For the First Time

For the first time from the creation of eternity we find ourselves now standing on far different facing shores with no bridge but one designed to reunite us. Though hidden from my sight I yet feel your presence living within me, abiding in calm restraint, your understanding our moment apart is mere flicker of time, no more than a single grain of sand flowing through the hourglass…. though I now live within this crushing moment of eternity without you. I find peace in the knowledge you rejoice in bright light of glorious morning sun, walking hand in hand with glow of infinite love shining upon your soul even as I suffer under the heavy weighted cloak of darkness so cruelly heaved upon me by such unfathomable distance.

How am I in this wilderness of loss to find place,,,,to find step… for contained within my search comes most noted this howling absence of light…

Sometimes we ask why to ears that do not hear.
Sometimes we ask how from lips which can not speak. I fear I am now but an island , separated from the whole, isolated within my mind and found with no direction home

In the Wake of Light

At break of dawn, the world seems still,
Yet stirs beneath the hush and chill.
The moon, though fading, holds her place,
As sunlight paints the sky with grace.

Palm trees stand with stately pride,
Their fronds in morning breezes glide.
Along the shore, bright laughter plays,
As children frolic in ocean sprays.

Soft breaking waves caress the shore,
Our footprints fade, seen no more.
Each wave departs, but not in vain,
It finds its way to rise again.

A Bajan greets with sage advice,
The breeze carrying his voice:
"Take in the air, let worries cease,
Embrace the morning, walk in peace."

The hush of dawn begins to lift,
As life resumes its steady drift.
Another smile, a kind good day,
Beneath the sun's unfolding ray.

Savages

You see it in the old movies,
when Indians come into play,
somebody calls them,”savages,”
and it seems to fry people’s brains.
They flip out, demand censorship,
know nothing of real history,
can’t empathize with either side,
to see how that all came to be.

It’s obvious that most regret
how things happened in these past times,
and they’re not wrong to regret that,
it isn’t that hard to go find
broken treaties and agreements,
politicians playing their games,
most wish that things had gone better,
but history never can change.

Yet this does not change stubborn fact,
and looking back it is well seen
that some things the Indians did
were barbarous to the extreme.
Ritual torture was practiced
on captives by most of the tribes,
and done long before Columbus
ever had the new world in sight.

Like burning people at the stake,
or things that were much more foul,
like tying intestines to trees,
forcing souls to self-disembowel.
Making people run the gauntlet,
to be beaten by hard-swung staffs,
make it through and you might be safe,
if you didn’t…well, that was that.

Now by any modern standards
this is savage, that much is fact,
but honestly, were they alone
when you take the time to look back?
Europe had its iron maidens,
and the rack in medieval days,
and the Turks once were infamous
for leaving many captives flayed.

The Japanese in World War II
treated captives like they were trash,
Britain used to ‘blow out the guns,’
for your sake, please, don’t look up that.
Islamists rape and mutilate
in ways that would leave you disturbed,
and savage Chinese socialists
do awful things to the Uighurs.

But somehow, in this PC age,
we give the Indians a pass,
try to forget what they once did,
this really does strike me as bad.
No people should be above sin,
we see our mistakes from our scars,
to stay at peace none can forget,
must understand all that we are.

It’s important the we know this,
noble savage myths do no good,
especially since we’d forget
if there was a way that we could.
This evil lurks in all mankind,
and it should leave us all non-plussed,
Were the Indians savages? Yes…
but no more than the rest of us.

Premium Member The Gift of Sleep

Come sweet sleep and let me rest,
Let me lay my head upon your breast.
My weary bones can go no more,
And so I'm knocking on your door.

Come sweet sleep and take me away,
To the place of dreams where I can play.
Erase all thought of strife and stress,
And allow my frazzled mind to rest.

And when I wake to a new day,
With nighttime dreams fading away,
I'll gladly embrace this day from God,
And seek His guidance for this path I trod.

Thank You, God, for the gift of sleep,
And for the nightly watch You keep,
That allows me to lie down in peace,
And surrender my cares in sweet release.

Premium Member wings cut

Wings cut, flesh torn, eyes burned and blind
Heart so weary borne upon a life, some say, unkind.

Time will come and go, knowledge gained or lost;
Rivers change their flow; summers die in frost

All that’s proud and full of fury in each person’s story
Sunk beneath the fathoms of depressions veil.

We humans sought to reawaken, but did fail.

I will write a word or two about a pear that clings
Frosty morning air anew, as summer wanes.

When autumn sings I shall turn the other cheek,
Jot some mental notes and such then turn to sneak a peek,

Were it not for noise, I would not glance back
Nor halt to hear the frantic fray; to enter then this play.

Character cast, twice remove; something by each side to prove.
Lyrically lay with lantern lit, composing each and all of it

In metaphoric style; lost of wit, but never wile;
I fracture to repeat, upturned sockets sweet.

Sumptuous undertaking of loved and all beloved;
Splendor in the Eye for taking all whom I may meet.

Hoping to move and by them all be moved.

No trouble here, noble poets burning.
Turn back to the fires you're tending.
And all that you’re unlearning.

Pass up the gauntlet to those returning
No more yearning; no more ending.

Satisfied to write the wilting flowers praise;
Documenting endlessly, natures endless days.

Casual observer thus inclined
To take up simple pen - of simple mind;

Talk of flowers and butterflies flying
Then maybe the flutter of wings

Will drown the sound of dying
Each voice sings..

Premium Member Every Moment Is Gone In a Moment

Every moment is gone in a moment.
Do not save your best for tomorrow, or an hour from now.
Do not store your favorite blouse for another moment.
Moments pass swiftly, and we are not in charge of them.
Whether or not we have ten more or one more or no more
Is in someone else's hands.

Every moment should be seized and cherished.
Every second should be revered for the opportunity it is.
If you have the opportunity to love, show compassion, share,
Do it at this moment.

If you have the chance to say something nice,
to do something kind, to administer help, to lift someone up
from the depths of surprise, do not wait for the next moment.
Sometimes the next moment never comes.

Someday when you enter the Spiritual Kingdom you may
have the opportunity to view this moment. What do you want
to see? Who could you have helped or loved?
What stopped you?
For what were you saving your energy?

Every moment is gone in a moment.
Do not think "I can do that tomorrow."
This might be your last moment.
Whatever you can do to be the
best and absolute kindest,, most compassionate
person you know how to be, do that now.
This moment for....
It may be your last.

Flower

i'm no longer haunted by your kind consuming smiles
fallen walls are caved in and stronger.
my pedals have been plucked
one by one
and once I had no more left
you cursed at how I reacted
how I still stood up

and then months pass and im consumed
I believe it's you.
You suck the nectar dry
squishing the grass around me,
dragging your feet along the grass so the dirt becomes exposed.
every grain of dirt splattering up in a mess
a chaotic puzzle
you knew i'd become weak and fragile
just like you're own soul
damaged. Unattended. Left behind.
Except you didn't know I've lost my pedals often
I've grown accustomed to lose them from every relationship
every lesson,
every winter and holiday spent alone or in argument,
I've been plucked more times than you've even imagined
yet you think you can rip out my heart and pride

Every time I grow back stronger,
a little wiser
and a little calmer
So pluck away.
I've saved my soul.
I've saved myself
survived the cold

You're nothing but a candied centerpiece,
always waiting for someone to fix your surroundings
when i'm waiting for my table,
reassuring,
solid,
reliable.
You've given me the ability to see that through
see what I truly deserve

And I hope you too can grow back your pedals
