Every Moment Is Gone In a Moment

Every moment is gone in a moment.
Do not save your best for tomorrow, or an hour from now.
Do not store your favorite blouse for another moment.
Moments pass swiftly, and we are not in charge of them.
Whether or not we have ten more or one more or no more
Is in someone else's hands.

Every moment should be seized and cherished.
Every second should be revered for the opportunity it is.
If you have the opportunity to love, show compassion, share,
Do it at this moment.

If you have the chance to say something nice,
to do something kind, to administer help, to lift someone up
from the depths of surprise, do not wait for the next moment.
Sometimes the next moment never comes.

Someday when you enter the Spiritual Kingdom you may
have the opportunity to view this moment. What do you want
to see? Who could you have helped or loved?
What stopped you?
For what were you saving your energy?

Every moment is gone in a moment.
Do not think "I can do that tomorrow."
This might be your last moment.
Whatever you can do to be the
best and absolute kindest,, most compassionate
person you know how to be, do that now.
This moment for....
It may be your last.

Line, I do like it when they are powerful like this. I want everyone to enjoy every moment. If we could do this, we could eliminate the world's pain one moment at a time.

Wonderfully penned Caren! This reminded me of a 'rule' I live by and have dished out as advice from time to time- I would rather regret something I did than something I didn't do. Poetry hugs, mo <3

Thank you Maureen. Some "researchers - ha ha - for all I know this is a lie." Posted once that when they polled senior-senior-seniors (aged 86 to 102) to ask if they had any regrets, the ONLY thing they all agreed upon was - and I know that part is a lie, I cannot even get 4 people to all agree so maybe I will change this a bit. Most of them agreed they REGRETTED only the things they wanted to do that they did not try.

Thank you P.S. I am glad that you are glad. Every moment is often THE important moment when we look back and realize it was our last one with certain people.

very good advice, my friend. Many of my moments are used selfishly, such as watching movies, but believe me, I make use of EVERY moment, since I can barely sleep a wink!!

WoW! Caren, I can't believe no one commented on such a revelation. Everyone on this site and any other site should read this write. This is my kind of poetry. Your heart for people shined bright in this piece. I see glimpses of who you are in your poetry. I bet you are a good counselor. I thought I should say that because you so skilled put we seize the moment to say a kind word. A moment goes by really fast. Excellent poem and straight into my favs:-) Alexis

Thank you Alexis. I would have to say the children at my school pretty much adore me. They always say "You're funny" so I guess maybe they see that ahead of my kindness, but lunch duty is a breeze for me, for they delight in pleasing me.
