From the Elephant's diary
You find me giantly like Gulliver, huge and obese
but I met my doc, he said take it with ease....
for you big is more beautiful so eat more cheese
I am on my diet of sugarcane juice,
lush green grass n' tons of bamboos
Mammoth was my forefather not anymore seen
Now I know being gigantic is in my genes
Instructor at the gym shooed me away
for I broke his treadmill with my single step I say
We love to have our bath in nature's pool
We dabble water with our trunk till we are all cool
A relaxing shower for all friends after hectic schedule!
In our forest club, trophy for best music band,
we won last week for our trumpet troupe!
Large is our family my Jumbo uncle says,
Old and wise he is in our tuskers' herd
He says our eyes are small, to see
only little good left in this big bad world
And our ears are large to fan away
the gossips and bad we hear
Thick skin we do have so called pachyderms
to shrug off the hurling vices of the woods
but we have a large heart to spread
loads of love to all species widespread
In history, we have a place reserved
for in wars and royal processions,
we were used as pride symbols he says
Revered animals we are since eons.....
In country called India, heritage animal we are
and even worshipped in religious places he says!
Huge boulders or logs ,mankind used us for transport
We even entertain them in zoos and circus
But he regrets that we are poached, killed by men
to pull out pair of our incisors called tusks
who polish to make precious ivory to earn bucks
So useful and harmless friends to humans we are
I asked my uncle why so cruel the men are?
He said men show their power
of being Nature's superior creature
we elephant folk are helpless giants
We can do nothing but to pray that
we be valued for our selfless services and
be saved from going extinct from this world!

Sinfonia
Phi For One
Mu for Alpha
Orange splices of pure fire fall to the cavernous wall as if the world was on its head,
Shadows of friends in greeting prints the rock a far,
I sit in comfort and complete humility by a roaring fire of fraternity.
I ponder my great quest for fire.
A long road remembered,
As barber drips from the pores of my soul chanting a deafening memory of my initiation.
The end is near, the wait is impossible, my stomach churns but I don’t care. I whisper to my earned brother, “where are we?”, “In the middle of no where in a freezing car.” Several hours go by and nay we pledges have much importance. Finally, the sounds of gravel hence at approaching membership. I hold and follow my earned brother along a steep and rocky path. I peer down my nose at my feet, barely staying vertical. I feel a blaze of warmth and hear a hissing crackle as if cast into the inferno of hell and damnation. An eerie silence blanketed by the radiance of Adagio. I feared the unknown and was most untrusting of the “Actives.” Who con and deceive. I trust Nathan and Dustin though, and they would not harm me! My mind never rested, I considered every course of retaliation, every out, every option.
At last I remove my blindfold destination revealed with aww.
Fresh and clear meanings defined.
My ritual, praised by youthful hearts, of Orpheus.
I am proud in brotherhood and understanding. I finally ware my gray hoody with the letters PHI MU ALPHA.
I (and others) have traveled great distances in Phi for One.
This One is but Mu, and can only be found in the leap of Alpha.
The Mu is necessary for Alpha and such a night is latent in all our minds
At nights end we all have replenished our souls with remembrance of fraternal meaning and brotherly spirit.
Raise your prelude to all the brothers, we sing.
A large circle of brothers arm over shoulder singing proud and loud on this cold damp November starry night.
This night is replayed over and over in my mind, reaffirming my commitment too Iota Rho’s long honored traditions. Time is irrelevant though we say its not. Perfection is of no concern, though we heave its importance.
At last the echo carries… SIN..FON..IAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaa! At last the traditions are entrusted to the next generation.

Team Work -created this haiku chain
With a deafening thunder
and blazing lightning,
Amidst a swirling clouds
of dark ominous smoke,
He appeared suddenly
Smack in front of me -
A most hideous being
who appeared neither
human nor a beast.
With a swift sleight of hand,
Before I could even cry out:
"Stop it. Oh God, please stop"
He plucked my heart out
and held it in his hairy filthy hand.
Oh, why he has to take it out?
My only possession, my only wealth,
The only thing that beat against
my frail, long worn-out chest,
Assuring its constant company
in this lonely journey of my life.
But heedless of my pleadings,
He tossed my heart
into the gutter
with a gut-wrenching laugh!
I asked this foul fiend:
Who art thou?
Why did thou taketh my heart away?
With a guttural voice he spoke thus:
I am the devil! Lord of the Hell,
I am the impetus that steers
the course of affairs in this world;
With me on your side,
You'll get the most out of a strife.
With Adam, the first man,
I came hither and residing since.
An ardent companion of those
who coveteth glory in life"
He bent down,
And with his flaming eyes
peered into mine,
Spitting foul breath into my face, he sneered:
But this heart!
This heart is a hindrance,
A barrier, the core of love and humility,
Where you feel the joys and woes of life.
Nah, there's no need for it.
Not in this world,
Where the mind reigns supreme;
Not in this age,
Where vices prevail unrestrained -
The age of decadence, KALIYUGA!*
He half turned to go,
But then he paused,
Turned back and looked at me.
Never have I seen
such a heavenly sight,
Now transformed into an angel,
He extended gracefully
his milky-white delicate hand
And whispered softly
on the breath of the breeze:
Give me thy soul,
And I will give thee the world!

Put your toe inside
my mouth, I wanna
feel you squirm,
there're lessons to
be taught tonight, I
feel you're gonna

I'd jack these sons

There is an ancient oak, outside some hallowed ground:
The hanging tree, once struck by lightning bolts, seems dead -
Its trunk is hollowed out, yet leaves can still be found,
Just like a corpse with hair that’s growing on its head.
I have a tale to tell - it’s from my long gone youth,
And that decrepit tree was looking strong and stout.
It sounds a silly tale - I swear it is the truth -
Though in my younger days, at times, I had my doubt.
Once, in my courting days, I walked home in a storm,
And heard the village clock, that chimed the midnight hour.
As lightning forked, I longed to be home, dry and warm.
I wasn’t drunk nor had my faculties turned sour,
But in a flash, I saw a figure in that tree -
Distorted, hideous, a hanged man’s purple face -
And yet more lightning showed it crystal clear to me.
As thunder boomed, I ran as if to win a race.
Another flash of light and I was not alone:
The hanging man stood there, thick rope around his neck.
I shivered, swore and shook, afraid, chilled to the bone,
And recognised the man: the killer Nathan Beck -
I’d seen him hanged to death, a year ago that day.
He said, ‘I swore revenge, I knew I could come back.
‘I’ll get my vengeance now, and you will have to pay.’
He put the noose around my neck, the rope still slack.
The noose was getting tight, he dragged me to the tree,
Attempts to fight no good, as though I were a child -
I cursed and kicked and punched, while struggling to get free.
I fought hard for my life, the thunder ever wild.
My life flashed by my eyes, a man about to die:
I thought of family and of my sweetheart June.
And sturdy young man that I was, began to cry.
(I nearly fainted like a maiden in a swoon).
In blinding flashing light, I found the Devil near.
He smiled and looking proud, he beckoned Beck to him,
And Nathan Beck was gone - I won’t forget that leer.
I must have passed out then, my memories are dim.
I came round in a daze, beneath the burnt out tree,
The noose was gone. It was a cloudless dawn that day.
I saw two farmhands grin. They shook their heads at me.
‘Too much to drink last night,’ I heard one laugh and say.
taking an early walk along the shore
awaiting for the royal entrance of the new day
through His Love Divine---
I hear the whisper of the cold and gentle wind into my ears saying:
the arrival of your majestic prince of the universe has now begun
excitements I feel deep down in my heart
giving a fleeting glimpse at the side of the ocean
there lies the long ranges of mountain-tops
seems as if they hide him from me
giving me suspense on his final exquisite appearance
as the ebbs move gracefully on their way back…
carpeting his path
waves all arise welcoming him with their loveliest prelude
the cold breeze gently wafts the perfumes as peaceful as they could
a scent of the blue ocean-potpourri
filling the air up to the clouds then down to my mood
as my prince finally ascends unto the clear sky
through his radiant rays he sends me right away his glowing smiles
descending his loving touch mellowed by God’s Loving Embraces
from my face creeping down to my whole being
all I feel is his warmth: an assurance that forever He cares
a very wonderful feeling I can’t explain
I close my eyes and raise my gentle face towards his rays
trying to absorb all the blessings and graces he brings
Oh, what a great and wonderful feeling!
keeping still my chin up on high
exposing to him my rosy cheeked face as I close my eyes
then I protrude my lips
As I want to finally feel my Prince Sun’s warmest kiss
a kiss of my Darling Sunshine
a sweet kiss of love
the greatest and eternal love

I love sunshine! My father gave me a ring when I was still young engraved with words Darling Sunshine because according to him I was born during sunrise. I lost the ring when I was staying in a dormitory as a student.

Sarah’s Story - Mental Illness
Sarah, the “Crazy Lady,” was a familiar sight,
roaming the streets any time of day or night.
Her foul body odor announced her presence,
as she paraded around in her filthy, smelly garments.
Walking barefoot regardless of the weather,
in her state of mind, she couldn’t do better.
Children teased and made fun of Sarah,
reciting ridiculing ditties, adding to the drama.
Behind her a lively entourage would follow,
taunting and calling her names creating a sideshow.
They howled with childish laughter,
as Sarah hurled angry profanities after.
An avid collector of all kinds of trash,
she transformed her abode into a garbage stash.
Sarah’s odd behavior made her fair game,
to unkind people who had no mercy or shame.
While many folks turned a blind eye,
young boys threw rocks and other missile,
at the roof and windows of the shack she occupied.
Behind bushes, they would scamper away to hide,
as Sarah furiously dashed outside,
brandishing a machete, cudgel, or broom,
screaming out curses, damnation, and doom.
Like a cancer, her mental illness had devoured her brain,
and before long, she was officially "certified insane."
Most agreed it was for her own benefit,
and for the good of society to be rid of this "misfit."
But even though she was locked away in an institution,
no psychiatric treatment could cure her mental condition.
When Sarah finally died, she was unloved and alone;
her passing was hardly noticed, and she was mourned by none.
Note: This piece was inspired by a true account. While we have made great strides in the study of mental illness and understanding it, unfortunately negative attitudes and beliefs toward people who have mental health conditions are still common. Thus, as a society, we still have a long way to go to improve our attitudes and to show more caring and compassion for those who suffer from various types of mental illness.

A simple man, I don‘t need much, I use few words; I’m Joe.
I once framed houses, now drive trucks. That’s all you need to know.
I love my wife and think she’s great, but one thing I can’t stand
She’s got so many things that it is getting out of hand.
Last month I hauled out all her * #^%$ and tossed it on the floor
of our garage because I could not take it any more.
When she came home and saw the mess, I told her: Listen up,
Your clothes take up three closets cause you’re such a cluster * %$#$#
I don’t care if the kids are gone. You don’t need their old space
to keep old clothes that do not fit and shoes such a disgrace.
The kitchen drawers are stuffed with junk that you don’t even use.
You have to clear the cupboards out before I blow a fuse!
I’ve taken all your Christmas crap and boxed it up for you.
It’s now in the garage there with your filing cabinet too.
These books and all the videos you never even play -
We’ll buy more bookshelves for them but throw a lot away!
You’re right. I never help to clean. but I feel too depressed
to wash clothes in the laundry room when I see all the mess. . .
the gifts stockpiled for grandkids; and that junk for holidays . . .
It’s got to be made orderly. Who needs it anyways?
I’m trying to be nice here. It doesn’t have to be
done all at once, but all this stuff. . .I feel like I can’t breathe.
I’m cleaning up my work spaces and then when I am through,
I’m going to redo the porch and uproot bushes too.
That sink we needed to replace I’m finally putting in.
I’m getting a new ceiling fan and also storage bins.
You poets here, this poem I post to keep you in the loop.
My wife can’t be here much this month at this here Poetry Soup.
I know she’ll come here anyway and say that I’m a louse,
but I won’t rest until we both have finished cleaning house!
* These are the expletives I had to take
out before posting because wifey said they don’t
accept swearing here. What a sissy site

Stepping heavy as the burden of my heart breaks
Heartfelt, never made an effort that was half-hearted
enough to be coming at your heart in half-steps
Check my prints, my footsteps never matched them
The path I tread in , my only companion be my melodies
Like the walls of Jericho fell, fall and there falls the Pharoah
Threats of Violence don't scare me
Thye just make me very hard to deal with
Especially when the means you using be excessive
Like you obsessed with my arrest's
Interested Like all my Faith is
Dead without the works
God's the rod to my back still
Man my back hurts
the battles I lost them
look at the cost here
I'm seed that is fallow, the ground is Hallowed
Pride swallowed, I still feel and taste that sorrow
It's unlikely, it's not even like me
to be talking to mice like they're men and mighty
so i switch it up and doulble dip them
Top them like i'm talking to models
My Motto "Aqua, Contra, Quatra"
I never quench the Spirit
My Spirit serious enough to quench a series
Precise, precisely, ETA> exact time arrival
Man I'm past due i ain't even arrived yet
I couldn't defeat 'em, but I survived them
And I will>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Be the one Pitching the Team here
and if They wanna be the devil
Well I be the Devil
Serving Curve balls and Strikes down the middle
Big Brother don't feel my anger
Just feel the Power
Come on man don' you wanna share it
Cuz you be Preaching to me about being stingy
look I'm the Potter, your the vessal, you want some Honor
i don't ask for nothing, nathan
I just take you and feed you like i did the pheines then
You never know I just might be that tree man
Whispering up in a breeze in
And there boy
Up in the air with The Airforce
Like the 3rd World War
