I have lived a true romance,
meeting my love at the art gallery one winter day,
I adore art and writing poetry (the art gives me inspiration)
he liked to draw pictures of art.
My family was considered poor
and he was educated and a traveler of the world,
my life at the time was mindless
with no real future . . .
One evening, he took me to a movie
and that movie is forever meaningful to me,
the next day, my love gave me a blue heart pendant
my own heart of the ocean
and I still wear it as a memory of him . . .
Oh, he believed in making each moment special- "kiss me"
he whispered the first time our lips met, and
I felt like I was flying and he said,
"I will always love you . . ."
We lost a baby along our journey,
holding each other in tears . . .
Then, one winter day he crashed his car through ice
and a thousand daggers pierced my heart . . . and still do.
If he could talk to me
in that dying gasp- he would have said,
"oh my darling I am so sorry . . . "
It was called an accident due to icy conditions,
I am not so sure . . . .
I call his name in dreams,
and I will never, ever let go of this love-
my heart is a deep ocean of pain
I go often to a grave upon a hill, passing the rows and rows
with red roses for
lost love, but I keep one rose, just one rose
for a little baby grave,
my other lost love . . .
and hidden birds sing in the trees .

Late night party
Board games and booze;
Happy laughter romps
~~~~~~~~~
Whiskey aged
Booze on the rocks;
Mellow fragrance
~~~~~~~~~
Blessings loiter
Smiles on faces;
Party mood
~~~~~~~~~
Purple sweet potato
Warm soupy dessert;
Zest greets fresh
~~~~~~~~~
Evening drizzle
Hazy darkness swirls;
Raindrop orchestra
~~~~~~~~~
Scary movie
Late night interlude;
Impromptu shocks
~~~~~~~~~
Once again
Slumber's limbo sensations;
Sleep talking episode
~~~~~~~~~
Moonless night
Skyline bleached black;
Raindrops fall screeching
~~~~~~~~~
Bedtime story
Sexy postures;
Sighs and highs
~~~~~~~~~
Evening news
Foregone conclusions;
Another failure then
~~~~~~~~~
Fate is stern
No time for jokes;
Another bomb blast
~~~~~~~~~
Purple and red
Pulpy fruit slurpy;
Back to basics
Quotes from the 1960 movie, Pollyanna:
Pollyanna: Why don't you come out of the front door like normal people?
Jimmy: They won't let us. I can come out anytime I want with my tree.
Pollyanna: You could also fall and hurt yourself badly. You shouldn't play in trees.
Jimmy: That's stupid. Don't you believe in God?
Pollyanna
Impregnated with positivity…relishes wide toothed smile.
Lips, cherubic-pink…so courteous…chin tilted godward.
O this angelic pekingese courts the sinner for their own good.
“Impertinent child,” man, woman, and gut, clench in good grief.
The sun rises on her, never sets — vainglorious retch.
Still…crystal illumination twinkles rainbows and puppy dogs.
In the big house, rent free, Pollyanna roams the rooftop.
What - sneaking out! Can’t be. Jimmy coaxes her down the tree.
Her aunt’s an awful louse, forcing her down. Breakneck landing!
Daddy, the preacher died, leaving her legacy, unkind.
Black and white, no insight, everything will be alright - but it’s not.
A forest vigil of candlelight - flames reach to the highest height.
She does her best to tamp the flames - aims to feel sorry for herself.
Hurts worse than she can imagine…her doubts, her pride…she hides.
Yup…she has the whole town spinning…their sinning ways, trimming.
Impregnated with a gulp, this blue-eyed, bow-tied, Pollyanna.
They shut her up but good. Her goodness flew. Hit them in the pie hole.
With wicked widespread grins, they cheer the impertinent snipe.
They call me ‘Cap’, (Captain) America!
But are my Values REALLY out of date?
Prefer Red Meat to esoterica…
At end of every meal, I clean my plate…
I would have – given time – tried to explain
To Tony Stark, the depth of what I knew,
But he responded, giving pain for pain,
Barehand, I beat the Ir’n Man black-and-blue!
It broke me! Had to trade a friend for friend!
I would have – given time – tried to unfold
A hist’ry of deception, tried to mend...
But, friendships SHATTER! left out in the cold!
Could I have showed that LIES had kept me sane?
NO! – giv’n a chance – I'd crash another plane!
Turbo1904?
One more turn in this chaotic journey,
The same nightmares to paint this apocalyptic reality.
Traitors, hypocrites, liars, the jealous, the hateful and the slanderers darken my dreams.
Forced to blaspheme just to gain the attention of the Universal Force.
A few victims, a few indelible scars to be seen as legitimate in the eyes of hell.
I shook hands with darkness just to survive this horror movie.
Living in misery and poor health is an infernal loop the Reaper greatly enjoys.
No trust left in the human race.
I’ve walked alone ever since I could stand on my own two feet.
One last journey, one final tribute in this putrid microcosm.
we started out with one week
to pay tribute to Black history.
we now have a whole month to talk about
a people rooted in royalty.
Blacks have had a religious journey
full of struggle and strife,
but we never lost sight of who our help comes
from the Lord Jesus, the Christ
we know God is our refuge
a safe heaven in times of trouble.
He is our strength, our power, our comfort
in times of struggle
yet, today we have a government
who is attempting to erase
the history and the accomplishments
of Black folks from every single place
but as a people, we rely on God
and will always call on Him.
for God shows up, to blow up
and gives us the win
meeting God in times of trouble
people need to comprehend
troubled times will always arise
whenever we get closer to Him
for the adversary's sole purpose
is to interfere and impede
God's people from going to God
and presenting to Him their needs
meeting God in times of trouble
we need to keep the faith
and never discount nor doubt
the God who supplies mercy and Grace
in the middle of the chaos
happening in America today
where spiritual waters are violently
beginning to sway
for the evil being perpetrated
on the Latino people of color
is nothing new to their Black American
sisters and brothers
we've seen this movie before
we know the outcome
we know we have to battle again
in order to overcome
to withstand the challenges
of this current spiritual warfare
we need a solution of biblical proportions
to now come to bear
meeting God. In times of trouble,
we need to communicate
to the next generation to trust in God
to help them counteract this current hate
for God is the same God who delivered
Black folks from slavery
the same God who gave Black folks
the right to vote freely
the same God who stood in the gap
and gave Black folks civil rights
is the same God who in times of trouble
will make every wrong, right
A sad love story,
A luxury ship,
In broken pieces,
A girl and a boy,
A heart-shaped diamond.
An old woman,
Tells the story,
Of Rose and Jack,
The doomed lovers.
Rose so lost,
Life mindless,
And endless.
And Jack,
Artist.
Poor.
Bow of ship meeting,
Love their destiny,
The heart will go on,
Unsinkable ship,
O, but it did sink.
Row boats for rich,
Desperation,
Freezing water,
Lovers entwine.
The ship split,
My heart will,
Go on . . . on.
The song,
Music.
Sad.
Evita met her husband, Juan Perón, after an earthquake. She was known for her “Rainbow Tour” of Europe. She was finely dressed and gave money to the poor. Protesters in Switzerland threw stones and tomatoes at her. She died from cancer when she was 33 and running for vice-president. Madonna played the part of Evita in movie of the same name.
Ride with me on my time machine to a different time and place
Return with me and let me see if I can put a smile upon your face
To the days of AM radio and the TV was black and white
To lying in a grassy field and counting stars at night
Popcorn and soda in the balcony at a Saturday matinee
Parades led by the High School Band on Decoration Day
Dressing up and going door to door on the night of Halloween
Cigarettes rolled in your shirt, pretending to be James Dean
Pep rallies before the football games, everybody stand and cheer
Going in the woods with your friends at night, sharing a quart of beer
That feeling inside, turning red, when she smiled at you at the dance
Wanting to kiss her goodnight, but you were afraid to take a chance
Playing chase tag at night in the neighborhood, hiding behind a tree
Holding hands with your first steady, so all your friends could see
Medicine Show at the end of town in a giant canvas tent
Saving pennies for a rainy day, fasting on candy for Lent
Going for a Sunday ride with Mom and Dad in the family car
Playing in the yard at night, putting lightning bugs in a jar
Drag racing on that long stretch of road, Chevy was hard to beat
Stealing peaches from a neighbor’s tree, always seemed so sweet
Riding bikes all over town, never knowing the meaning of fear
Identifying cars by their tail lights, make and model and year
News and Stooges at the theatre before the movie starts
Valentine’s day I love you written on tiny candy hearts
Easter bonnets and picking flowers for Mom on Mother’s Day
Opening day at the community pool the last weekend in May
Sock hop in the auditorium, collar up, trying to play it cool
Meeting friends at the usual place, everyday after school
Six for a quarter on the juke box, music that would move your soul
Return with me now to those glory days and the birth of rock and roll.
