Premium Member I'M Not Perfect

It has been defined in five words: A small often hidden defect*. If every mortal minus one in the world today was perfect, it would still be contaminated by that one lone creature who might be as harmless as can be. If the truth be told, that lone one might be me; or could it possibly be you? Oh, You've heard it many times; and have you not said it a time or two? In defense of an attitude or deed, did you not say, "I'm not perfect"?

In our FLAWED state, could we both be searching for secrecy behind a tree? You see, the honest truth is that we're all IMPERFECT and flawed as can be. If any should think otherwise, that one is plagued by a very severe ILLUSION.

Since COVID, my bank is the only place I enter that request I lower my MASK. Oh, it's true that we are in a state of "Reset", but we shall forever be flawed. I suppose as the planet turns around the world, we all get a little bit TORN.

So many of life's dams and walls have CRACKED, and some are BROKEN.
There is much doubt and suspicion, and some think we are living a FACADE. It's no big surprise that we all walk on slippery slops, because we are flawed. Paul said it best, "For all have sinned and fallen short of God's glory".**

The Silent Kiss

The silent kiss can come with secrecy
minus a face to reveal its patron.
Easily detected singing love’s strong melody,
best surprises come from unknown mister or matron.

A twenty-dollar bill found tucked in a pocket
with an unsigned note – spend as you like.
Unasked-for help with a faved broken locket
echoes thoughts of that boy with his thumb in the dike?

Without coveting acclaim for paying-it-forward
  the silent kiss means planning things through;
taking serious your promises - keeping your word…
notably to a child who has before mistrusted you.

Cutting single neighbor’s grass and tackling her weeds
can make a difference when she doesn’t have time.
Treating her and her kids to dinner knowing their needs,
the silent kiss takes no account for each nickel or dime.

The Revered Reverend Martin Luther King Junior First Part

Five score minus eight years ago
January eighteenth two thousand twenty one

as benevolent demigod figure
to the oppressed African American population

without whose bold risks
and subsequent brutal assassination April fourth
ninety sixty eight at the hands
of a crazed gunman (James Earl Ray),
whereby all the King's men
and all the King's horses...,

still aghast at tragic event
while reverberations felt forty two years later,
where embedded white privilege

the self anointed masters and early settlers of
the virginal North American contiguous land mass

against the institution of slavery

incrementally raising awareness
regarding the abomination
forced servitude incurred on those shackled
thus setting the stage
for this grandson of A.D. Williams

who ministered spiritual support
for the small congregation
(initially only thirteen members)
comprising attendants at
Ebenezer Baptist church in Atlanta Georgia
setting precedent for freedom

(at risk of life and limb) against scourge of
racial prejudice courtesy
of sharecropper grandparents
whose objection to racial segregation
based on an affront to the will of God,
whereby the young whip smart precocious lad,

(whose impact we now memorialize)
showed his true colorful promise
when a young student at
Liberal Crozer Theological Seminary
in Chester, Pennsylvania
where the yet uncrowned

eminent king came under the influence
of theologian Reinhold Niebuhr,
a classmate of his father's
at Morehouse College
who became a mentor by exposing
his protégée to liberal views of theology

Premium Member Wish For a Day Was Granted

She was sitting on the edge of the bar stool
Not wearing anything but her wings.
I found it curious that no one else seemed
to want a peek and I could not stop peeking.

“What will you have?” the bartender asked.
She was a short, mean-looking, lined woman.
Her face had x’s and stars like the palm of an old hand.
“I ummmmmmmm…..I……..” My mind went blank.

The faerie laughed. Not a tinkling, sparkly, cutesy laugh
But the laugh of a trucker who had smoked a thousand Lucky’s.
How a fog-horn oldster laugh like that could come out of something
With such a lovely backside like that, I will never know.

I caught her eye, and she said, “Have a Bud Lite.”
“Bud Light,” I said, as if my mind had mushed itself.
A brown bottle was plunked down in front of me
Seconds later, minus lid.

If I had wanted it in the bottle, I would have brought my own.
“Eight dollars,” said the bartender. What? I was askance!
I was not trying to pay income tax or anything. Just buy a beer.
Which I figured should have cost around sixty-three cents.

“Give her a tip,” the faerie said. Her voice was lovely this time.
I looked at her, and she winked. She had the most remarkable blue eyes.
Suddenly wanting to impress her, I gave the bartender a twenty
And my traitorous mouth said “Keep the change.” What the H?

The bartender brought me another bottle, plunked it down
And said, “Eight dollars.” I did not dare look at the faerie.
I looked down, at my hands. “I did not order another one,” I said.
Weakly, ineffectively, unsure of myself now.

The faerie laughed. “Mom, this one’s on me,” she said.
I was suddenly in a terrific mood again. “This is your mom?” I said.
She nodded her golden curls, and I fell in love with those blue eyes.
“Time to go,” Mr. Sandbottom whispered. “You have had your wish.”

In seconds I was out on the sidewalk, myself, again, an ordinary woman.
“How was it being a man?” He asked me. “Did you like it?”
“Strange in many ways,” I told him. “Familiar in others.”
I heard the faerie’s harsh, cold, fog-horn laugh, which had no effect now.

Poetry form: Alliteration - Each poem in my Alliterative Alphabet Series describes conversations between two or more people while only using words that start with or sound like the first letter of the title of the poem. I’m publishing the poems as I write them on Wattpad.com, not necessarily in alphabetical order. My goal is to write at least 26 poems to cover each letter of the alphabet. I hope you find the concept interesting, maybe even clever. Most of all I hope you enjoy them :)

Disclaimer: This poem is fictional and does not depict any actual person or event. The names used are ficticious and were chosen to satisfy the requirements of the poetry form.

Mittens and Madness

If it gets any “hotter”
I’m gonna freeze my ass off.!!!
Minus ten degrees,
wind chill factor minus 35 degrees,
my freakin’ carbon footprint is iced over,
I’m wearing a hat……..in the freakin’ house.
It’s all “settled” science.
Kinda like that dispute in fourth grade
was “settled”…..I had a black eye,
a bloody nose, and a torn shirt.
The eye healed, the bleeding stopped,
the shirt got mended,
but I never forgot
the heat of that moment,
the chill of the resolution.
WE…..WE….had to write
five hundred times
“I must not fight in school”.
Dammit, it was his fault.
He took my hat, my mittens,
said it wasn’t that cold out,
only sissies wore mittens.
I felt more like writing
“I must not get my ass kicked in school”.
I never wore mittens again.
If it gets any “colder”
I may have to go buy a pair of mittens
and go kick his ass.

The Beginning

A final song to sing
Life is getting hard
Not a thing you can do
Day dreaming
Thinking of what tomorrow may bring you
One more song to sing

Voice of an asylum forager
Choice to become a cultural voyager
Pictures are taken
But perfection is split and edited
I move mountains if I could
But that state of mind is not understood
The price you pay
For having a small paradise in hell
Like loving a widower
An Achilles with a sense of compassion
Minus the expense and lashings
Was going to sell my bed to pay rent
Some of us appreciate the absence of zero
But no one truly admires a fictional hero
If all A is B and all B is C
but doesn’t equal something
Then C is the unsound value of nothing
An outcast because I have a sense of morals
A list of things to do, plural
Only in triumph
Will you find a cure for your fall
Hitting walls in my mind
Did you forget you were human
Brush your hair away from your eyes
For god doesn’t cry
Poets getting scarce
I’m starting to paint
Portraits of where you are
I’m beginning to faint

Repent
Ask your lord for help
No Mercy
He’s not listening to you
Enjoy your final breath
Are you worthy
The worlds a fast place
But you’re in no hurry
I’m alone
No tomorrow
To reach for
And I miss you

Who Knew Shredded Paper

Who knew shredded paper...
alias confetti could be so much fun?

The misses took play therapy (hive
urgently got to tell thee)
to whole nother level,
she smartly, expertly,
deftly... didst contrive
at my expense - (to late),

when paramedics did arrive
abusive deadly torture,
I did not survive,
when she (Frau Abby) five
feet tall minus one inch
lobbed bajillion pounds

(analogous to many
a swarming beehive),
no matter I took strategic dive
buried yours truly alive
moments before perishing,
heard her banshee

cackling, hooting, kickstarting...
dancing spot on jive,
nonetheless mere seconds
before my demise did arrive
manage to scrawl illegible
plea broadcast across

icloud expansive ethereal
euphemistic hard drive
though unsure if
timely help will arrive
to resuscitate and revive

praying immediate por favor
very limited options more
or less absolute zero before
death be not proud doth score,
sad fate, I cannot ignore
salvation amidst desperation

doth tide dully shore
bolster faith no more
toward humanity - generally a bore,
maybe comeuppance,... thus I deplore,
premature demise grim reaper doth adore
yet perchance bottled message

throughout cyber sea reaches poor
or fabled lands i.e.
Zanzibar, Timbuktu, Bangalore...,
no especial rhyme nor
reason zee afore

saith place names mentioned
except they came to fore
front of noggin of this schnorrer
realizing United States marine corps
may also beg tubby enlisted,

viz search and rescue operations
even intervention papal monsignor
please communicate asap with pope,
now I bid thee good bye bonjour
beetle browed troubadour.

I: Provisio in scriptura (provided in scripture)

The Lord made us from the Earth's crust,
He creates that vessel blood's line,
each of us from ashes, --from dust,
blood flows, soul, mind our life design,
our spirit floats o'er the minus,
all IDs acquiesce assign,
our presence moves us to the plus,
our breath gives life a chance to deed,
sonnet stakes; >"...time>be, to>>not be...,"
roots, limbs, leaves all parts of our traits,
founder, foundlings -- family tree,
sprout from the ground that permeates,
hither and thither all earthy,
on top, in light, alive--then fates,
once us back to dust--returnee.

II: Provisio hoc exemplum (provided for example)

How much sow can sin to be,
when love is blind and naught foresee,
mistaken life a possibilty,
a baby ~ poor me,
forfeit--regret it,
the sin, has-been,
have it and forget it,
past is passed,
your life will change and so will the baby change,
start with the diapers ...,
then move on with your lives.
