Nothing but puppies;
Swam with the guppies;
Hang out cause their buddies,
When they get out of the pool yukky
Smelly are the fur biddies,
And those floppies, kitties,putties, putty, puffy, bunnies,
Eaten all the yuppy gummies,
While those piggies huskies tummy’s are muddy
Biddies, buddy, buggies, bunny, butties, copies,cubbies, cuppy, druggies, Duckies, fluffy, funny, fuzzy,

As I stand atop the crest of the hill, its bosom round and full,
I gaze upon the lazy valley sprawling before me.
In the distance at the base of the misty, blue mountains
the Loblolly pines play timpani in the Autumn breeze
singing a lullaby to the golden field of wheat.
"Sleep my lovelies, ssleep, sssleep," it hisses with sweet breath.
Cool licks of chilling air send a quiver through my skin,
while the slowly creeping sun seeks shelter behind the towering peaks.
The majesty before me reminds me of my own fragile mortality,
as my mind wanders and my thoughts leave me dizzy and weak.
Like the leaves falling from the majestic oak,
they swirl into eddies of twirling dancers
mimicking the undulating waves
of the dried crops rippling in the breeze.
The blue sky, calm and serene
So many such skies have I beheld,
their beauty breathtaking in their infinity,
but now they darken
as I grow closer to the inevitable twilight of life,
the red sunset beckoning to me.
No less majestic, the hues of crimson and coral
mingling with fuchsia and garnet, flushing gently,
moving across the face of the evening sky.
With wispy brushes, they slowly paint their way
from cloud to gossamer cloud engulfing the horizon
like the slowly fading memory of a woman's soft blush,
gently kissing my cheek, red lipstick lingering.
Blue turning to black, time standing still,
the crimson fades and the dark quiet of the night settles.

swooshing of dark-wet, late green branches
intensifying quiet of morning
thunder and lightning rescind—
mourning absentee birds
there’s no sun
as Autumn comes,
apples
ornamental—
in sodden basket
of orchard.
sweetness
lies on ground
rolled in
debris of
sticks and stones.
whispering zephyr
coolness in its aplomb.
choice
lovelies brim on trees.
the waterlogged bark
with placidity of dawn—

Come on you lot wakey wake
A start of another crazy day
Give the comatosed children a chant
Dash to the bathroom now it's vacant
No time for a rest or sleep
Just on the go cup of tea
Uniforms pressed and shoes scrubbed
Presented to my two grouchy cherubs
Breakfast time can be unreal
He wants toast, she wants cereal
Fruit and veg for their box
Time for school, ready you lot?
Walk my lovelies for exercise
Get back just after nine
Too tired to eat straight to bed
Out like a light blowing my zzz
Soon be time to get up
To go fetch my little cherubs
Prepare our meal before I leave
Help with homework before we eat
Prepare my box full of snacks
Shower then my uniform is back
Babysitter's running a little late
A mad rush out the gate
Step onto my favourite ward
No time to stop and talk
Cries for nurse and buzzers
Keep me even more busier
Change beds, mop it all up
Help feed and change Mr Jessup
Medicine dispensing with caution
Cannot give the wrong portion
Have five minutes eat a pair
On the go no time to spare
Mr Drinkwater's health has declined
Call in the family, it's time
Comfort the loved one's in grief
One last round before I leave
Walking home pick up some bread
Making plans for the next day ahead
Cristobal, so pink in your blue suit
Limbs flailing, condemned
You will grow so quick to learn
Vicarious loss and sorrow
The light is now in the ground
We weep and gnash for love taken
The children’s pain a thin veil of my own
A pox, a pox on all the world
But a savior
A mother without her children
Children without their mother
My God what a tentative brace
We pray ‘’ballast our keel’’
When I look at Helen
With that very special stride
It’s quickness
I wonder where she has been
What brutal weight she must carry
Daughters become mothers
Where is the chance for them
Oh Helen of the slippery gait
My own life is a ship
Laid on its beams end
Coming very slowly
Up to the wind
As I contemplate chains and pens
Listening to thumps and laughter
She slides through to say
And to brighten my day

I can but struggle

You're so love-a-ly, so love-a-ly
can't believe you're in love with me.
The loveliest thing is this song to sing
your so giving heart - the love you bring.
Did I mention today that I love you?
Without you, I wouldn't know what to do.
When you find someone to share your heart
it's impossible to think of being apart.
Seems like we were destined to be:
searched the world - all the land and sea.
Strolled the spots where beauties abound
but a truer love I've never found.
For all the lovelies who dream a song
who wait for their lovers to come along,
they capture my feeling and deepest fear -
to have no one to hold - no one so dear.
You're so love-a-ly, so love-a-ly
can't believe you're in love with me.
The loveliest thing is this song to sing
your so giving heart - the love you bring.
The street where I live
is where rich people
have holiday haunts,
or investors have airbnb houses to rent.
The little old lovelies are
tarted up with a lick of paint
stuffed full of
period matching furniture
and nick-knacks,
to charm the socks off
the visitors flocking to
the seaside for short stays.
Mid-week outta the holiday season
my little old street is a ghost town.
Only 5 of 34 houses with lights on
at night.
On the week-end its party time,
with parked cars choking the roads.
The kind vacationers tell me
when there's a party on
across the road,
and ask if I mind the noise.
Fortunately, though unfortunately,
I'm deaf in one ear,
and so with curtains drawn
and good-ear down,
it's sweet dreams
and memories
for long-stayer,
party-animal
on the outta,
little old me.
Scaly bones, smelly bones, bones all the way through.
Old bones, bold bones, green bones, bones for me and you.
Bones rattling around in a skeleton’s un-skin,
Bones dancing and prancing, and galloping in.
We laughed and we hooted and we hollered and more
When we saw those silly bones dancing on our green floor.
The teacher was irritated, as it was the third day they had
Taken us hostage, encouraging us to be big and quite bad.
We kindergarten lovelies were shaking and laughing, lying on the floor.
Happy skeleton was laughing too, his skull popped off and flew out the door.
The teacher rolled her eyes, she knew a teachable moment when she saw one.
“The leg bone is connected to the foot bone,” she started to sing, oh, what fun!
We sang ‘dem bones’ loud and proud, Max, Jack, and Molly and me.
We sang them all day, big and loud. We sang hearty ‘til
A quarter ‘til three.
