Here Is Happiness For Me

With her pet toy in hand and playing,
In mother’s lap, a strange smile lurking,
To her lullaby whilst listening,
Eyes on Ma, at last succumbs to sleep,
Here’s happiness for me sound asleep.

Their heavy school bags left way aside,
Uniforms too thrown on whatso side,
Back from bunking class, leave un-applied,
Bare bodied when children dance in rain,
Here’s happiness for me sans restrain.

Dreams and young desires dancing in mind,
Two teenagers in tender love blind,
At the appointed place do when find
And haply together smile their smiles,
Here’s happiness to me that beguiles.

Dawns a day, and Ma wakes up early,
Finds the house bare and rather lonely,
And lo, the door-bell rings suddenly,
Her daughter and kids hug her in glee,
Here is crest of happiness to me.

One eve, the sun prepares when to pack,
I see grandpa— nigh bent at the back,
Nostalgic, playing old songs from rack
When breaks into dance that transcends age,
That’s happiness to me freed from cage.

Based on a Gujarati poem by Shyamal Munshi, titled:
mane to sukh eman dekhaya, transliteration as follows:

ek ramakdun lai mana-gamatun,
mana khole hasatun ramatun,
mithan halardan sambhaltun,
mani same jotun balak unghi jaye,
mane to sukh eman dekhaye.

bhar bharelan daftar khakhi,
ek divas khunaman nakhi,
ninshal man pan chutti rakhi,
bhai-bandho sau thai ughada bhar varshaman nhaye,
mane to sukh eman dekhaye.

ichao laine ubheli,
ek chokari preme gheli,
nishchit sthane pahonchi vaheli,
premi ne jotan ni sathe acherun malakaye,
mane to sukh eman dekhaye.

ek divas ma vaheli jage,
ghar khali-kham sunun lage,
ghar no bel achanak vage,
‘ne bachhane lai dikari malava avi jaye,
mane to sukh eman dekhaye.

chho kede thi hoy valela,
ek sanj ni dubati vela,
dada sahu mitroni bhela,
juni filmo yad kari ne junan gito gaye,
mane to sukh eman dekhaye.

Karwa Sach: Dhan Aur Rishte

U gujarna ab raaste pe badla badla sa lagta hai
Wo najariyan logo ka ab kuch kehta hua rahta hai
Pata nahi kuy ab rishtedar ijjat dene lage hai
Wo dost jo yaad tak nahi krte the aaj haal samachar aur sahuliat puchne lage hai
Wo karibi jo pata nahi kharab waqt me lupt ho gaye the aaj fir karib ho gaye hai
Wo samaaj jo haste the pata nahi ab haskar dusro ki baatein karne lag gaye hai!!

Karwa sach yah hai ki in sabke badlaav ke piche hai wah chij jise log kai nam se pukarte hai
Kabhi wah dhan, to kabhi paisa, to kabhi rupaye, kabhi sampati to kabhi daulat se jante hai
Naya rang aaya zindagi mein jab se maal-o-daulat mili
Har chera muskurata hai, har aankh lage hai mili-juli!!

Par socho zara, jo apno se juda ho gaye the kabhi
Woh kya sach mein apne hain ya sirf banaye hue sabhi
Samay ka chakkar aisa hai, kal jo tha woh kal nahi
Dhan ka mooh kala hai, pyar se badi koi pal nahi!!

Karwa sach to yah v hai janab, bhago aap is ke piche
Par dekhna kahi apne na chut jaye aur kuch atut riste na tut jaye
Rishton ki jamapunji ko hatho se sareaam kar do
Khudgarz duniya ke najar mein apno ko anjaan kar do!!

For you, I shall

For your sake, this heart that isn't even close to me, I shall make it yours.
If you come and reside within me, I shall turn that very heart into a temple.
Weaving a swing from your dreams, I shall rock you upon it from dawn to dusk.
But who am I in front of you? For you, I shall lose myself completely.
If the stars refuse to befriend me, I shall steal them from the moon and name them after you.
Even if you wish to walk upon a withered graveyard, I shall bloom into flowers along your path.
And if you wish to sleep but find no cover, I shall spread my body as the softest blanket for you.

Tere khatir yeh dil jo mere hi kareeb nahi, use bhi apna loon
Tu jo aake bas jaye mujhme, ussi dil ko mandir bana loon
Khwabon ke tere jhoola bana kar, sawere shaam tujhe uspe jhula doon
Khair tere saamne main hoon bhi kya, tere khatir main khud ko gawa doon
Taare jo naa dost ho mere, chaand se unhe chura ke tere naam kar doon
Murjhe kabristan pe tu chalna bhi chaahe, toh main tere raaston main phool ban jaun
Tu sona chahe agar aur chadar na mile kahi, mere jism se tujhe narm chadar bichaa jaun

Tumhare Baare Me

Tumhare baare mein har baat jaanne ka junoon sa tha,
Aaj tumhari bohot aadate meri aadaton ka hissa hai jisme ek sukoon sa hai.
Achha batao na, ab bhi kuch janana baaki hai kya?
Ya phir jo jaana hai, bas itna hi kaafi hai kya?
Suno na, kuch kehna tha... chhodo, rehne do,
Tum to ho hi ziddi, chalo fir bataata hoon ||

Har ek baatein tumhari har pal apnapan sa laati hain,
Jaise pichle janmon ke kuch khaas rishton ki yaadein jagati hain.
Cuteness ka jaadu to hai hi tum me, par pata hai alag kya hai wo hai thodi sanjeedgi ke saath,
Ab agar ye tulna kia jaye to ye aise hai jaise chaand ki alta aur suraj ki baat ||

Apne kaam se jo lagan tum dikhati ho,
Pata hai tum hai na zindagi ko apni tariko aur saleekho ke sath sajati ho.
Chhoti se chhoti baat bhi yaad rakh leti ho,
Achha sach sach batana kya tum use dil ke panne par likhti ho.
Last aur ek bat batata hu jis tarah tumhara andaaz sabse juda hai,
Tumhari baatein bhi khud mein hi khuda hai ||

Nafarmaan Nakhalf Baitay Ka Noha-- Elegy of a Disobedient and Evil Son

BeAdab gustakh jab aulad ho jaye
Chain sukh maa'n baap ka barbaad ho jaye

Cheen le budbakht jo walid ka sarmaya
Jeete jee kion baap na barbad ho jae

Aasteen ka saamp that beta nhi the woh
Maut ae usko woh barbad ho jae

Baap kee jo he raza Allah kee bhi he
Aashna is qaul se aulad ho jae

Maa'n ke hee pairoan talay jannat ko kar talash
Rah se bhatka jo too barbaad ho jae

Beta boorhay baap ka baazu he kehlata
Beta ye na samjhay toh barbaad ho jae

Nek o taabaydar ho aulad to wallah
Walideen ka dil khushi se shaad ho jae

Kia karein woh waladeen jab nakhalaf beta
Mayel e jaur o situm eejaad ho jae

Qibla o Ka'aba kuch kumtar nhi maa'n baap
Kaash hurmat aashna aulaad ho jae

Deen o dunya chin gaee naKhalf betay se
Baap per jo mayel e bedaad ho jae

Tu ne mera dil dukhaya to he mere lal
Hashr tak tu unsuni faryaad ho jae

Kion na ho jae pidar phir zinda dar-goar
Jab pisar badbakht hee sayyad ho jae

Standing On the Promise

I'm standing on the promise to be good and honest
nothing is more important than being a servant for
the good of man kind nothing is more important than

to let my light shine everyday I wake every breath I
take I try to seek to keep perfect peace with my fellow man
no matter where I stand I want them to understand that life

is a gift only god can give for that I'm standing on the promises
to up hold to cherish to never let my thoughs parish to always listen
and sit still and let god do his will nothing matters more than this

that's why I am standing on the promises of love peace and happiness
I'm standing on the promises that no one can ever take this
I'm standing on the promises of god knowing that he is inside

every step I take every move I make everyday when I wake I take that stand
knowing that god has my hand.

He's Real

He's real this I know because the bible
tells me so he turns the frost into sand
he holds the whole world in his hands

he spread the stars among the skies he
gives love to you and I he is there for
us when we weep he is there for our souls

he keeps he watches over us when we sleep
he take care of all the animals from goats
to sheep he is there for the young he is

there for the old he blesses us with riches
and gold he knows when we are right he
knows when we are wrong he is there

with us all night long I know he is real
with each breath I take and with each song
I sing I know he controls everything

and when I die I want to go high in the
sky way pass the stars to be safe in his
loving arms.

Natures Way

I love the birds the trees I love the things
they say to me the sky's so pretty always
true always clear the color oh so blue
the water so clear the sound sparkles the

mullets and tropical fish swim deep in the
ocean every sea every lake has something to
say this is nature's way the sun kiss us
with it's energy to protect us and give us

our warm glow the moon dance in the distant's
around the stars to guide us through the
night the earth is always moving taking on
new forms as our animals get to know life

and try to survive what we have words cannot
describe then man walks the earth learning
growing teaching showing all this put
together as we bloom and stay in tune with

nature's way.

Angels

Angels are god little helpers they stand by
his side and help lead the way they guide
us through our prayers I know deep inside

they are always there not a moments pass I
can feel one in my grasp what I do know is
true it's you god's little angel

In the night I know they shine so bright
caring for the kids and saying good night
helping god answer prayers all his angels

are everywhere standing around the chirstmas
tree guiding and spreading out the seas
blessing our earth and giving us peace the

angels always bring us joy to every little
girl and boy I can hear then chant through
every song and dance our eyes could barely

behold the sight of such a glance of such
a force only sent by god to carry the torch
I look forward to each day as the angels

guide me on my way.
