Premium Member Super Hero Thing

While watching my parents being mugged and killed
At age thirty-one my calling was revealed
Got bitten by a rare deadly bug
While surviving a nuclear blast so snug

In a exploding toxic waste dump
As a comic meteor from outer space bumps
Than slams down to earth in front of my face
As the Sun's solar flare burns me in place

While I constantly am being zapped gory
By strange energy from a mad scientist laboratory
Of an intention gone bad but meant to be good
This stuff can't even happen in Hollywood

Of course this little mishap is for the best
Because you now know the rest
Just give me the mask, cape, tights and ring
Now I'm doing the Super Hero Thing

Vision of a thousand eagles
Able to smell with the might of a hungry beagle
Hearing keen, good looks and clean
I can do this Super Hero Thing

Strenght, as strong as a mighty hurricane
Both weak and strong know my Super Name
Invisable if the need and super fast with super speed
Fighting crime, the evil and those with greedy greed

Save the world by saving the sexy pretty girls
There are fringe benefits saving the world
Than loving them in my known name
Super Heros know no shame

Can transform and can fly being good is my high
Using super gadgets and with super powers I thrive
Save the world daily and through the night
While keeping a secret identity is my biggest plight

As a playboy billionaire paperboy photographer
While moonlighting as a mild manner court stenographer
Sidekicks, Villans and the public at large
There need for my fame gives me a super charge

Be it Truth Justice and the American Way
Or just mindless vengeance in play
With Great Power comes Great Responsibilty
And a winning smile and dynamic personality

Still one day it must all come to an end
I must pass the cape to a younger super friend
In the comic world I will be glorified
With a TV series and Movies deal magnified

People will always remember my Super Name
I will always live through my Super Fame
But when I go I'll be just an average Joe
The world will never really know

The guy with the mask, cape, tights and ring
Who saved the world by saving the girl doing the Super Hero Thing

Premium Member My Captain

I watched him fly a kite.
Dipping, diving turning, swirling
And when it soared, I saw his face,
Filling with delight!
He spent his afternoons flying
His evenings fixing.
Battered, broken and torn
From trees and wash lines he had worn.
Next day back again
Messing with its tail this time, to help it climb.
It did. Over trees, above the roof
The lone red kite remained aloof, quite awhile.
Man, you should have seen his smile.
An ear-to-ear, wide-mouthed grin,
So huge it overwhelmed his chin.
Eyes that sparkled like diamonds,
But, diamonds are forever and
He didn’t come today and won’t return
Tomorrow. There's gossip in the marketplace
Of his mother’s sorrow.
Captain of the flagship, Pirate of the sky.
A playful child, far too young to die.
He and his kite dared any feat,
Would not from even birds retreat.
He sailed his kite up to the sun,
Just him and Jesus having fun.
Fishing for a breeze to soar on,
Finding currents they might get tore on.
Young and Brave and unafraid of space,
He always found his “shadow”,
Fix a broken bone, mend each wing in place,
Such concentrated joy upon his face.
They won’t be flying any more.
Kites from five and ten cent store.
And Pilots! What a thing most rare.
I doubt I’ll ever see another,
Great as that one there.
Yes, he was good.
Anything you told him to, he would.
With a smile and a ma’am or sir.
Now I sit beside my window
Waiting for a breeze to stir.
Thinking of a boy with kite,
Thinking, what a lovely sight!
So proud, so young and so defiant.
Used to take that kite and fly it
Where no other one would dare
Adventures he and I would share.
Weaving round the power lines
Near windows, over pines.
A master craftsman at his trade.
No one could match the way he played.
Oh what things he could achieve.
And now I sit alone and grieve.
A young boy died, as dreams and dreamers do;
left behind this memory, a moment, maybe two.
Shadow kites come my way, no more.
My little Captain, too soon called to shore.

Premium Member Wounded Sigh

A crumbling cabin, a jungle deep,
An old soldier trudging by,
Imagining he heard, in the breeze,
A ghostly, wounded sigh.

This elder sat 'neath a mangrove
To ease his creaking bones,
His uneasy mind accompanied
By the wind's eerie moans.

The groans metamorphosed to words,
As mournfully they spoke
About an injury so grave,
And a heart and soul, which broke.

"A strong youth, fastest in my school,
Brimming with hope and fun,
I couldn't outrun a speeding bullet,
Blasted from a cruel gun.

Stripped of hope, left a broken cripple,
Of no use to anyone,
I couldn't envision a future -
A day past twenty-one.

It wasn't just a body blow,
But one to my emotions,
As a gap 'tween me and my mates
Grew as vast as oceans.

All the love I had to offer,
Were stained with weakness, and pain,
So, I was nothing more than a
Miserable ball and chain.

I slipped into the dark jungle,
All hidden and remote,
Where nobody would need to hear
Cries issued from my throat.

My cabin had enough space for
One table and one chair.
It was a blessed relief to know,
No one could find me there."

The glum words urged the drifter's heart
And drew him to the hut.
The image in the table's chair
Then, punched him in the gut.

The old man's mournful, decaying face
Stopped and froze him in place.
The grim, unsettling vision was
His own crestfallen face.

life has somewhat
calmed down now that
I’ve bowed out from the rat race
and officially finally retired

I’ve learned to disentangle myself
from the merciless mundane madness
I don’t miss that old hamster wheel
always spinning out of control

I’m now at peace with myself
I’ve become my own jury and judge
questioning my every choice and decision
to ensure they fall in place with my master plan

the voice of my conscience keeps me
aligned and on track as time trickles away
ultimately I know I’m not really in charge
but I can at least be master of what I can

one day I know I’ll be facing my Maker
and there will be no sanctioned excuses
down to my very core I’ll want to be proud
of what I’ve done and become

The Unions : One For All and All For One

before labor unions came into existence businesses were run like monarchies
where those in positions of power treated the workers atrociously
no sick days, no overtime, no vactions and no minimum wage
and some work place conditions were worse than an animal's cage

but throught the grace of God and American ingenuity
the laborers joined together and the unions came to be
organized for the advancement of the shared interest of the work force
a confederation of laborers who at one time had no recourse
fired without cause, no work injury compensation and hardly a lunch hour
but with the labor unions now in place the workers have a measure of power
bargaining for health insurance and decent salaries
negotiating for better conditions and job security

thank God for the unions as collectively we band
one for all and all for one, united we now stand

Lucifer rebels, war ensues
Igniting evil’s deadly fuse.
Evil assails, Michael prevails
Satan’s revolt in heaven fails.

Cast down to earth, and filled with rage
His war with God, on man he’ll wage.
The rebel heart that his being filled
In human hearts he will instill.

Mission achieved by cunning ruse
Igniting evil’s deadly fuse.
Paradise lost, from Eden tossed
Death is the price man’s sin did cost.

Sin like a cancer suffused man’s mind
Evil blossomed, of every kind.
Wickedness so ruined God’s plan
That He was sorry He made man.

At the right time, God sent His Son
On Easter’s morn, the fight was won.
Lucifer’s reign was dealt a blow
God’s love for man was now on show.

The reign of sin will one day end
When God again, His Son will send.
This time to judge the quick and dead
And destroy sinners and their Head.

God’s fire will burn the wicked up
They spurned His bid with them to sup.
In place of sin, God’s love will reign
Eternal life His saints will gain.

The First Responders

By Franklin Price

6/12/2019

The Day was nine-eleven, the year two thousand one

Twin towers in Manhattan, down before the setting sun

Each was penetrated, by a commercial highjacked plane

Flown by U.S. hating terrorists, who no longer would refrain.

Alarms were sounded for the scene, first reponders made their way

Their jobs to rescue anyone still living on that day

They came for the thousands, and risked their life and limb

They did everything they could, until the towers fell on them

More came as the dust cloud cleared, to search through the debris

Exposed to poison residue, to set survivors free

First responders and survivors left, when search and rescue done

Replaced by clean-up searchers, until all they found was none.

The years have passed, not memories, or the long term health effect,

To the crews that first responded and the lives that still connect.

Exposure sickened many. Now they're gone or on their way.

They should not have to bear the cost, for what happened on that day.

The terrorists would not have come, to do the bad they did.

Were we not the U.S.A. who had not run or hid

Would not have knocked the towers down and left new vets in place

Was the modern day Pearl Harbor for the war which we now face

We are the world's protector whether we like it or not

Have been, since the last great war, or have we now forgot

Must take care of all our vets, no matter how they came to be

The ones made when the towers fell, or those militarily

The U.S.A. is different than other countries on this earth

Our declaration said it, when it was written at our birth.

It's best we not forget that, if we care that's who we are

It's time that others paid for just a few rounds at the bar.

Sacrosanct

In place of guarding you as the apple of an eye
they're excavating your eyeballs out

perhaps it is better so
you ain't gonna see
what they have done to you
whom they pledged an oath
in whose name they are separating us

at those who cherish you
at those who cherish you less
to those who don't

and you are laughing at
multiplied names of yours

names are multiplying
faith is dividing
decomposing to the factors
and monetizing

200 rich families was the goal
to rest of us
eating cakes was suggested
and it had a taste of crap
completely in accordance to
how it felt
being confronted with cognition
for great design of those 200 chosen ones
other have bled

reduced on animals
which devour each others faces

our flag remains
lowered at half-staff

Premium Member Hurricane Carol

A major storm is churning in the Atlantic ready to raise havoc on shore Evacuation orders are in place as the authorities have gone door to door
The hurricane center is forecasting the highest wind speeds to ever be recorded
Our beach house over the years has survived every storm, but this one is surely not to be ignored
We are leaving with a few items and the clothes on our backs
Is this the last time we will see our house in one piece, or by some miracle will the storm veer off-track
We now leave it up to the powers from up above to determine our fate
We hurry to the car we need to get to higher ground before it,s too late
If the storm should demolish our place and flatten it to the ground
It will do nothing to destroy our fond memories and the people we surround
In the end, we narrowly avoided a direct hit, so the house survived to fight another day
The hurricane and my partner are both named Carol what's that you say

No Place To Be

I'm not really there,
I'm not really here,
The place that I am,
Is a result of my fear,
Of what, I'm not sure,
Could I be more evasive,
Focus and clarity,
Is not so pervasive,
Envy to those,
Who know what they want,
They determine their path,
And proceed with their jaunt,
Mine's full of detours,
Speed bumps and twists,
The greener the grass,
I cannot resist,
My attempt to determine,
The appropriate fit,
Somewhat disarms me,
So, puzzled, I sit,
I do truly know,
That one certain venue,
Which needs to contain,
A multiple menu,
With that in place,
There's no need to run,
Fulfillment achieved,
And I shine like the sun.
