Life Seeping Into Sands

I have a friend who has days to live and this situation moved me to write this poem. We can't stop time. But we can make the most of the time we have. Thinking of you.

Life seeping into sands
By Michelle Morris
30/12/2022

When you know the sand is falling
Far too fast to slow it down
You stumble over hurdles
To throw yourself to the ground

Like trying to catch a deluge
As it spills over your hands
The hourglass is broken
Life seeping into sands

Tick tick tick tick
You can hear the seconds fly
The clock seems to be running
Your life is on the line

Your mind constantly races
Your heart beats an erratic thrum
Your pulse has gone to the races
And your soul is getting ready to run

What is it about Death
That has us all so spooked?
We all know it's inevitable
It's the part of life we lose

You cannot delay its passing
For we all have a destined time
The Universe is synchronised
For everything to rhyme

Nothing out of kilter
Or else Fate will blow off course
God has His special plan
And we are His blessed mortals

We were made to learn our lessons
Whatever we decided upon
We knew those sands would hasten
From the moment on Earth we were born

Tick tick tick tick
You can see how close it moves
Until that death knell rings
You have respite until Death swoops

When you know the sand is falling
You see the hourglass at breaking point
There comes a moment of acceptance
For kicking and screaming wouldn't work

Like trying to catch a deluge
As it spills over your hands
The hourglass is broken
Life seeping into sands

But wait a little longer
That life will be cradled soon
Death takes our silver threads
And suspends us from the Moon

And there we look upon
The Universe God made
And angels take us to Heaven
Where we are born again

Dare Me Not

(FREESTYLE)

A cobra on the land is a cobra in the shrubs and still the cobra on the hills
The fire that ravages the grasses fear no Greenness of the forest
It first wears them rags and strips them naked

Dare not my laughing hyena
I cleanse the bones and make them hopeless even in the life aftermath.
I don't just bark.... I bite and crack to the marrow.

Feel like roaring like a lion that I am
King of the jungle
Still the champ in the Royal rumble
The face doesn't make me humble
I run and ruin the hurdles

In scores of minutes i do double
In all of these, still I don't tumble
Girls dem daddy, but they call me uncle
Cos i conquer the heavy Ukwu ukwu
Don't give a damn about the looku looku
Won nfi oju ana wo oku

Struggling With Life

By now my perception,
so naive and derisive
going beyond intention,
should have changed;
blemishes spoil this appearance,
they are worse than any word said
to hurt and humiliate with vengeance:
sling no stones, no threats to shield!

I got through many hurdles,
they posed hard challenges...
and struggling with life I can say,
" I'm prouder than anybody. "
What held me back was constant fear:
how painful was to see all disappear!

I looked up and saw the grayest clouds,
soon it would be raining for eternal, dreary hours;
much sadness they brought with their darkness:
I couldn't find shelter into anybody's arms!

Struggling with life is wrestling with God,
it's the hardest fight ever fought;
nobody wins and we surely resent defeat:
we blame fate and cry out loud...
not appreciating what we have freely received,
and shunning what's good, we embrace deceit!

Premium Member The Gazelle

Among Solomon’s first love commands in the book of his Song of Songs,

He adjures the young maidens by the gazelle, and how charm makes them strong.

For the gazelle is a gorgeous creature with beauty and unequalled grace.

She moves with elan and fleetness of foot, darting here and there leaving no trace.

Her sensuous body, caressed by the gentle breeze, trots about almost unseen,

Making the wildflower to blush and the envious grasses to turn a vivid green.

Eyes sparkling, she darts lightly about the meadow with all of her senses alert.

Seeming to be rolling and gliding, she can disappear and reappear in a spurt.

In the beauty of the length of savannah, she has no noticeable match.

Prancing from one thicket to the next, she stays too smart to catch.

Knowing well her environs, she blends with the hues of the scene.

By dieting lightly and steadily moving, she keeps her figure lovely and lean.

The photogenic bounty of every cameraman’s trained eye,

Her graceful hurdles and jumps can literally touch the sky.

The beauty of her eyes are a legend, their sharpness is a must.

Such a marvel of lightness and grace, there are few that she can trust.

Throughout two of the largest continents, she has reigned as a goddess;

Yet being a figure of poise and glamor, she remains demure and modest.

Time is ephemeral and finite and impermanence my place on earth

I am never perfect but hope to be good enough for this world

My sight has always been poor and I seek insight nevertheless

Knees are beginning to grind and endurance takes a bit longer

And yet life is no marathon or fast race so the grim reaper can wait

Acceptance has reached me though I stumble at a few hurdles

Impatience continues to be my defect and an impasse to healing

When challenges grip the target seems so very distant for real

So much that I flush the plunger before I pass what needs be

Waiting for Godot never was my best state of current affairs

Ingrained in me is the notion there are no problems only solutions

Thus I am insolvent for reality is not well adapted to my beliefs

However I am special some say and an unlimited edition of one

Distinctive idiosyncratic and loved by those who share my path

Blessed with kind and compassionate people who put up with me

My wife lover and soulmate shares my sweet transient journey

And I have learnt to cherish help assistance and kind guidance

I have come to embrace the fact that I am especially fortunate

Employing absolute freedom innate,
as the subject, the object and the means
the triad of energies shapes our fate,
with the light of Self veiled behind five screens,
the densest being our organic form,
God’s vital life breath enlivening dust,
entwined with mind, conjuring a thought storm,
bliss body and childlike heart that does trust,
being then the hurdles we need to cross,
to exit this maze though we’re in a daze,
by choosing to weed away instincts gross
and in pastures of love, joyfully graze.
The aim of the game is to feel contrast ~
Before rainfall, the sky is overcast

Before rainfall, the sky is overcast,
dark and long seems the night, opaquing light,
but knowing that destiny’s die is cast,
our mission here is to garner clear sight,
to which end, that here and now we ascend,
we search for that which does not shift with time,
voice of conscience, to which our ear we lend,
inking the void with love’s beauteous chime
and no sooner we do this, the mists clear,
ego takes a backseat, heart is upbeat,
with soul’s presence sensing that God is near,
felt as soundless thunder of His bliss beat.
We are the blockage, constrained by thought chains ~
First things first, we choose to cleanse our soul’s stains

First things first, we choose to cleanse our soul’s stains,
enabled by melding head with the heart,
eye equal whether moon waxes or wanes,
total emptiness where all fears depart,
that thus having chosen to surrender,
we relinquish control of life to God,
each life breath being beheld in wonder,
gentling our touch by giving love a nod,
whereupon then doing nothing at all,
merging with the all, we become the flame,
mind’s delusion dispelled in the bliss squall,
reclaiming light of Self, our claim to fame.
We transcend turbid storms of fickle fate ~

Snowfall

The snow sifted like sugar onto the branches of the tall trees.
It poured onto the sides of the mountains. No-one would know it is spring.
The quiet snowfall brought with it the loneliness amidst the beauty.
A long winter it has been, a long life with so many hurdles.
The fog leaves one feeling misunderstood, yet such clarity when lifted.
If only things could have been different, but then I would not be who I am.
Someone who marches ahead through drifts of snow, always moving forward.
Someone ready to climb that next hill ahead of me, wanting to reach the top.
With momentum of a storm, I keep on going, with survival for the next one.
Strength comes from within, stirring from beliefs I hold and visions I have.
As long as I keep my eyes open to what lies ahead, always in a new day.
Whether it be winter, spring, summer or fall I will change with the seasons.
And in these certain moments before me, I will be still even as the snow falls.

Of Guardians Gods and Freedom: the Drive of Thought

I contemplate my words with caution
i forge my stand with speedy resolve
as my student appears lost in time..
in a secret place of daydreams where
my surreal lecture boring penetrate in

My students eyes light up and i can feel
feel the rich beat vibrating in his essence
but today were teaching discipline..
and focus to master navigate life's hurdles
am teaching the soft navigators skills

I speak in manner devoid of flattery
for unto man the path is laid ahead
and pilgrim you have to take it..
its the only jail.. the journey of life
with discipline you attain destination

A times when i yearned to achieve
A times when my future was bright
A times when i was a servant of time
i yearn to tell my student.. freedom
is freeing yourself from the jail of time

I yearn to tell my student not be
fooled by the three dimension illusion
i yearn to explain the flaw in time..
i yearn to free him from the false mindset
i yearn to point the way to liberation

Yet the beat keeps radiating from
my young student... the unconscious
booom boom radiates back and forth
its the of the joy of parting the elixir..
of freedom without knowledge of it

There is freedom in the beat my friend
there is freedom that frees the mind
and there is freedom to partake all..
the good things in life.. i teach discipline
for with it you rule the world you rule you

The path of discipline seems like a punishment
but it's whats makes you victorious.. feel..
the restraint of the bond.. restraining a free soul
adorn your soul in music but restrain your excesses
it the key to overcoming the time prison..

The time warped concept of viewing life in three dimensions
the warped context of material visualization of the divine..
an ascension of thoughts as you overcome the time constraints
and achieve peace in servitude to the divine will.. the only duty..
worth of a mortal.. worth of a god.. worth of a great mind.... sage

Premium Member Song Lyric - Backyard Vacation

Backyard Vacation
(Country, male vocal, speed/tempo in vein of Zac Brown Band's "Knee Deep" w/Jimmy Buffet)

When life’s hurdles got ya goin’
Around in circles without you knowin’
And it seems they’ll never end

I take a walk in my backyard
I like that it’s so large
There I look around and take it all in

Sometimes life feels strained
It shows us joy and sometimes pain
I’m here to tell ya a backyard can explain..
That just for a few minutes
So long as a hammock’s in it
Life’s trials can’t ever beat out a sunny day

I’m lucky got a few nice acres
Trees and a pond from our good lord maker
I’m thinkin’ it’s funny how it got this way

As I take in the view
And tell myself don’t be a fool
This feeling is what you never want to go away

Sometimes life feels strained
It shows us joy and sometimes pain
I’m here to tell ya a backyard can explain..
That just for a few minutes
So long as a hammock is in it
Life’s trials can’t ever beat out a sunny day

The beauty you’ll see offers a hedge
Like a tree’s reflection against the water’s edge
It’s a paintin’ you can see in your mind
It’s all a gift so enjoy the tryin’

Sometimes life feels strained
It shows us joy and sometimes pain
I’m here to tell ya a backyard can explain..
That just for a few minutes
So long as a hammock’s in it
Life’s trials can’t ever beat out a sunny day

Can’t ever beat out a sunny day..

Premium Member Descent And Ascent

My hilly paths are full of pits, and my trails turn and twist.
My life and destiny have contracted clandestine tryst.
As there are dams blocking rivers that flow flawlessly
Unknown hurdles put pauses to life rather lawlessly.

Brick by brick how cautiously I construct my dream castle!
How a storm pulls it down as though it's a hut on the hill!
Exploring, inventing, and enlightening, I move on.
Towards absurd spells of death, my mortal being is drawn

Inner aches, like yokes, weigh me when I let go of my worries.
Pains and grieves, like traumas, bring in tumultuous flurries.
Soul passes through deserts of spiritual emptiness.
Pilgrimages of perfection become pride-filled pettiness.

With my descents and falls, I, a weakling, come to my Lord
He lifts me from dust and takes me to his heavenly abode.
As a vulture that gains its youthfulness, I take new birth.
Dark nights of my soul end and bright days lead to endless mirth.
