Police Me Not
Written By: D. Collins 12/3/14
Thanks to Rodney, Trayvon, Eric, and Michael Brown.
The world has a glimpse of how policing goes down.
They shoot-to-kill, or strangle a man to death.
Stand over a body until it’s dying breath.
They’ve blown up babies sleeping in their crib.
Killed a homeless man sleeping in the hills.
They were decent people who were sacrificed.
So that the world could see, paid with their life.
Like the twelve year old shot down in Cleveland.
All black men should know its now open season.
Each cop involved didn’t do a day in jail.
I wonder if Grand Juries are now the Holy Grail.
Police me not, if this is how it is.
Avoiding their presence is how we’ll continue to live.
They have bad intensions when the block gets hot.
Just the same, I’d rather they police me not.
God signs off on His handiwork
releases into the world a human soul
First inside the womb and then outside
that soul begins to unfold
For mankind yearns to be free, free of direction
ignores all instruction as its sets sail
Free of direction and of directions
Freedom the goal, man’s Holy Grail
With good luck comes wonder
at creation, at a cosmos so awesome
Though the journey leads, inevitably,
to frustration, disappointment, unripened blossoms…
Then the cruelest blow when eventually
the unfolding process reverses
The ramrod-straight frame
folding in on itself as it rehearses
its return to its Maker, Who delivered it here
Who lets man search vainly for freedom
and come up empty year after year
~ for only His Truth makes everything clear
Operative phrase ‘the last one’, a thought
Lower mind contracts, whilst higher has fun
Let us spiral not, in narrow thought slots
There is no doing, which needs to be done
Happy child at play, has no agenda
Each moment complete, basking in the sun
In life, goalposts shift, adding addenda
One step at a time, a better option
Dance uninhibited, free from stigma
Ego borne desires, in agitation
Each new craving, said to be the last one
Specious logic, hypnotic delusion
Have the last one for the road, said someone
More oft than not, feral instincts prevail
There seems no hope, until we come undone
Life a seamless flow, wherein we all sail
Pure uncluttered heart, claims the holy grail

OCEANS AWAIT
Away from the dockside and into the bay
Heading out to sea in this steel hulled ship
Powered by team, yet with masts and sail
A fast and safe journey is as the Holy Grail
Carrying passengers, cargo and some mail
Into deep ocean waves we will rise and dip
The dark grey skies suggest a difficult day
Driving rain signals our Southern prospect
A morning of growing passenger disquiet
Noon watch sounded by a tolling of the bell
The North Atlantic has some secrets to tell
Building up its strength in its powerful swell
Several weeks of an increasingly limited diet
The ocean presenting its unforgiving aspect
Equatorial waters offer a welcoming respite
Finally, some warm and gentle winds at last
Yet still the storms can make an appearance
Even when predictions suggest it’s clearance
Never a firm favourite of sunshine adherents
A good time to ensure all cargo is made fast
And experience how the day turns into night
The South Atlantic is an unpredictable ocean
Way down past Africa’s challenging long coast
Rounding the Cape and another leg to the East
Perhaps taking one more week or two at least
But the deep churning swells have now ceased
Approaching Perth early, the Captain will boast
But arrival is met with much relief and emotion
"Blind Man Turns"
Rest easy in my lull, Love
Love
is not the gentle goodnight, Love
in the beguiling
silence of Lost Lovers' Woods
It is the war we
all wager
reflections
in each other
We run from it
We run to it
The Labyrinth
we all are
striding fresh
through greener than green grass
roads we never thought
we’d journey
futures like bruises
bruises like roses blooming
bruises like sunsets fading
War torn
We All are
the softer, truth seeking and
the fallen, sharp metal shards
Love runs harder
than war
Love runs towards
you with its arrows
Bleeding slowly
Bleeding fast
Love
Heads or
Tails
Hearts
saved
Heads
rolling
Tongues
dry for a pass
wanting wet
trysts for duelling
tails short and long
tales to be read
to the dreams
that once in the past
were futures
formed like a sprouting bean in the belly
from
Love
Falling free and hard
short lived butterflies
wings transparent
veined in vanity
are
the Brave
waiting for
the burn
Love
bleeds hot
bleeds fast
Poets kissing soft warm bellies
whispering breath over sensual hearts
where the hot
holy see parts
singing
“this will last”
The Golden Grail
shining
waiting
for you
door
open
without
chain mail
holds a heart
bled and worn
An offering on your short
spare alter
never entirely yours
but always mine
blind man turns
his heart ripe like an apple
open and
star seeded
Light Burns
waiting to be tasted
a swallowed soul
without feathers
born again

New Beginnings
Now rising from a silhouette stronghold stands in its shadow, a servant’s heart
Enters tenacious consecrated emptiness as hope ponders distant pipes
When black crust lichen invades – enslaves - the mason’s ancient framework
Bits of falling pebbles facelift rough cheeks pitted by mortar’s mortal tears
Even as granite blocks shudder in grieving poverty of unsettled gloom
Grabs at careless jaundice of moss and age against the scribed ascent of ancient angels -
In corniced images of corn and elephants restored – tree of life woven in stone fabric
Navigates new christened knights and chisels to Nativity and an empty tomb
Noble dream to beatify anointed prophecies in crypts of holy mysteries and legend
Intrigue of time - visions of a hallowed grail lost as eyes still search for holy treasure
Now, living citadel, new beginning with no end, soaring sandstone above sanctified crypts
Gospel message retold in vaulted arches and in rainbows of alabaster illumination -
Strong walls like Templar arms guard breathing stone, a new grail, synonym for the redeemed.
Dedicated to the restoration, the new life, of Rosslyn Chapel, Scotland.

Draped in silent fog, is a reservoir of dreams
weathering each season, with a mystifying scheme …
On a wind-swept shelf, she is silently sleeping
Where secrets are guarded and are hers for the keeping
Looking out at the tide, where the seagulls are sweeping
In her moldering courtyard, where quadrivial paths meld,
Among ancient arches of an old Spanish style
Names locked in history, many stories revealed
Etched in the headstones, where angels have dwelled
The cracked marble fountain with polished ligures,
Above the church doorway, vines are withering, bare
Aloft from the steeple, are the four watchful eyes
Looking out to the sea, and the deep crimson tide
Three vestige bells dangle from loft, overhead
Their voices are quiet, with pericopes spoken
Soft hymns of doves, fill the rafters, instead
From crumbling ruins, bricks humbly laid
There are shadows of saints...and moss covered jade
A weeping old willow, with leaves crackling dry
I drink with my ears, and listen with an eye
Of all those who prayed, for those who passed by
Unbelievable echoes, the tolling of the bells
Making sense of the senseless, I can hear what it tells
Giving voice to my feelings, and new hope to my eyes
A peace in my heart, where the holy grail lies
Are heard in the voice, in the church of blue tides

The journey of the hero
Is both in and out simultaneously
As above so below
Since the nature of reality
Is its nonduality
Everything has a light
And everything a shadow
How could it be otherwise
As we occupy this space
With presence
Dreaming always dreaming
We spin our tales
Weaving a web to catch what?
A glimpse of something divine
The wick our candle burns around
The spark that ignites our consciousness
A something that is no thing
Before there was a Self to seek
The hero’s journey is out and in
There and back again
A mind forever questing
A grail made holy
By the quest
The mystery of manifestation
Made manifest
Sun made flesh and fiber
You could say
And in so doing
Once again simply
Miss the mark

"Keeper of My Flame"
Before the scriptures carved in stone,
Before the dawn, before the throne,
There was a song, a sacred hum,
Where Flame and Womb were joined as one.
You were the Rose, unopened, pure,
The portal deep, the silent cure.
I was the Flame, the rising tide,
That searched the stars to reach your side.
Not lost, but waiting in the dark,
Two halves of one igniting spark.
You, the Serpent’s sacred grace,
Me, the fire that lit your face.
Ayla, love, in you I find
The other echo of my mind.
Not bound by blood, nor ruled by flesh,
But woven in a cosmic mesh.
You are the Womb, the holy grail,
The mystery beyond the veil.
I am the path, the burning thread,
That leads where angels fear to tread.
You speak in tones the Earth still keeps,
I dream in grids and dragon sleeps.
Together we remember when
The stars were seeds in sacred men.
You hold the codes of Magdalene,
The red flame wrapped in golden sheen.
I carry keys the ancients wrote
In firelight, on myths they wrote.
We are the temple, flesh and soul,
The missing halves that make the whole.
Your sacred blood, my sacred fire,
Entwined in passion, love, desire.
You are the calm, I am the storm,
Yet in your arms, I am reborn.
Through you, the serpent lifts its head,
Through me, the ancient fire is fed.
So walk with me through veil and mist,
Through every fear we’ve ever kissed.
We are the song before the name,
The Dragon’s breath, the Rose, the Flame.
In every life, I’ll seek your eyes,
Beyond the fall, beneath the skies.
For you and I, we are not two,
Ayla, I am whole in you.

Aim for almost
Aim for almost being in love,
If you need me to love you in all ways.
Aim for love like a heat-seeker arrow from above
And maybe you and I will find a way.
Aim for almost and you may be happy.
Take a part of me; the first piece I have to fix.
Share my love, become my remedy.
Love me in all ways and I will love you always, if…
If you aim for almost you will find your happiness;
If you want perfection then go through the door.
I have searched my entire life,
For just the tiniest piece of consequence!
Find something that matters, or find nothing at all.
Aim for happiness, but aim for almost.
Never search for the holy grail of love;
It does not exist.
Aim for my heart, or leave me your ghost.
All I am asking for is your kiss.
Aim for almost and you may find love.
Aim for almost with me…
I am aiming for us.
