He was a super star. I was neither super nor a star. We were walking in opposite directions, and as we came within 10 feet of each other, I recognized him and spoke to him by name. He said, "Walk with me".
He was on his morning walk, which I assumed was part of his normal routine. So he could not stop and speak with me but was very courteous with his invitation for me to "Walk with him". He even addressed me as sir.
His use of the word 'sir' spoke volumes to me. I walked a few steps with him but was on the job delivering very
time-sensitive materials. So I could not walk and talk
with him, even though I would have loved to.
He was a famous person whose actions on and off television had caused me pause with regard to his character. But on that morning, there was something about the way he addressed and showed respect to me that grew me to him in spite of how I had felt before. Asking for an autograph never crossed my mind, and as we parted company, I told him that my son will be thrilled when I tell him that I met one of his favorite stars.

we live in a star struck society being a celebrity is now the game
we seem to cheer louder for professional athletes and people with well known names
we also have a desire to be just like them if we could choose
and many feel that being a celebrity is the key to the fountain of youth
but what people fail to see or even comprehend
is that celebrities are nothing more than mere women and men
and that there is no special powers that a famous person obtains
just because everybody knows your face and your name
and when it come to Jesus He doesn't care about your status nor place
He will welcome you in the spirit of love, mercy and grace
He will sit at the table with you and share a simple meal
some bread and wine in the spirit of communion and an acceptance so real
God does not care if you're a celebrity or a superstar
if that were the case the Bible would not mention the women with the alabaster jar
she was not a woman of status, wealth nor celebrity
but she gave what she could to acknowledge Jesus' godly authority
yet those men in the room rebuked her for her generous act
until Jesus stood up for her in the midst of their verbal attack
He told them "leave her alone, as for Me she has done a good thing"
she gave Me her best, she anointed Me with fine oil as her true King
what people can't understand nor comprehend
is that by doing things in Jesus' name blessings God will send
she broke open that alabaster jar she opened her soul to Christ
she gave what she could she gave the best that she had in life
give what you can that is all that Lord God desires
for you to give from the heart and with true faith to be inspired
to understand that being famous is not such a big to-do
but to be recognized by God and know that He loves you
Guts, Determination Blood Sweat and Tears
Who can say they have not used that combination
That is the combination that makes famous people, heroes and idles
What is the difference between famous people, heroes, idles and you
The amount of followers
Let’s look at a famous people/ heroes/ idles
They have the guts to do something different
They have the determination to do it the best they can
They have hurt themselves for what they believe in
They have cried when it all went wrong
They have raised a sweat just to get it right
I want you to look at your life
Through the eyes of your family
You have the guts to make your family get out of bed
You have the determination to help your family be better than you
You have lost blood for each member of your family
You have sweated your butt off to ensure comfort for your family
You have shed a tear more than once for you family
Why do we like famous people, heroes and idles
Because they do something better than we can
They make what they do look easy
Famous people give us ideas, dreams and hope
But most of all
Famous people, heroes and idles are people that we admire
You have become a master at what you do
Day by day you give love
Day by day you give hope
Day by day you share dreams
Month after month your kids keep coming back to you
With out knowing what you have done
You have year after year
Created a hero for your kids to idolize
You have given advice to your friends
You have shown kindness
You always manage to give away a smile when it is most needed
You have had a positive effect on others as well
You are:
My Idol
My Hero
My famous person
No, I don't play golf, nor am I a fan of those who play;
But I am a fan of success and great accomplishments.
It was about 1040 AM as I turned the curb to return home.
As I was making the turn, the thought of Tiger Woods entered
my mind because of the reports of his very recent accident.
I have never met Tiger nor expect that we will ever meet,
but this morning for a short while I could not shake the thought
of him. So, I began to pray for him, making mention of the losses
in his life and the pain that must have followed the shame and embarrassment he must have felt several years ago following the revelations about his personal life and family. As moisture began to form in my eyes, they were not tears for just a very famous person, a person that has experienced huge success and prosperity, but a heart throbbing prayer for a man in need of someone far beyond and above himself.
So, I prayed that God would reveal Himself to Tiger in a way that he has never known; that God would heal the wounds that seem to yet linger, causing him much frustration and sorrow. I do not know of Tiger's relationship with The Lord, but felt that I needed to touch God on behalf of one needing love and a friend. May The Lord also surround him with caring and loving people who are not enameled by the great golf star, but as a fellow human being in need of a solid path to walk on with his Maker.

I saw a famous person
walking alone on a city street.
He was about 25 feet away when
I spotted him. I said, "Hi John,
So nice to meet you. My son will be
happy to know that I met you".
He said to me, "Come walk with me".
So, I walked a few feet with him until
I realized that I was on my job and had
important packages to deliver. It never
crossed my mind to ask for an autograph,
and I'm pleased that I didn't.
I think that he was disappointed that
I could not walk with him. I have often
wished that I had the time to talk with John.
Perhaps he needed someone like me, someone
more interested in him than in his fame, to talk
to or even a stranger to listen to.
Chances are great that he has forgotten about that
morning when he met a commoner on a city street.
Or, maybe it was also a moment He will never forget.
However, I never forgot those brief moments with John.
At the time, I had little respect for him because of the
attitude he portrayed on television. But on that morning,
He addressed me with sincere respect when he said to me,
"Thank you, sir".
I must say, that was an encounter that I never forgot, and
from that moment on, my thoughts regarding him changed.
Yes, I met a famous man who wanted to talk with a non-famous
stranger who was busy at work delivering time-sensitive packages.

The elevator button has got stuck
there doesn't seem any way out
here I am with a man called John
says he's an apostle, I don't doubt
Indeed this is John who knew Jesus
being his disciple and apostle so well
the writer of the gospels and 3 epistles
he is my favourite gospel writer to tell
I'd ask about his time on Patmos
there on his own in total isolation
how did he cope just trusting in God
but God faithfully kept him in his tribulation
John also received the book of Revelation
when spoken to by Jesus heavenly vision
which told John what was to cone to pass
even yet the world's to meet a collision
So much of Revelation hard to know
would love to pick his mighty brain
asking when is these things to come
when tears are gone and no more pain
John lived along with Jesus
always being close to saviour's side
what was it like to know him?
to know His presence always to abide
John stood at Calvary he saw it all
next to Mary standing with eyes fixed
how did it feel seeing Jesus die?
wondering what's to happen next
Then 3 days later at the tomb
looking in but nobody was there
then realise Jesus had told us so
John, so much you have to share!
(I am describing what it would like to be like to get stuck in an elevator with my favourite famous person and why, that is the apostle JOhn.)
In the middle of the night a door slams
The awful scent of cigarettes floats upward penetrates my nostrils
Insomnia keeps him up and restless
Lying here I hear, smell and know that the worst is yet to come
Huntington's Disease slowly destroys brain cells
Mutant form of huntingtin aggregrates within the brain
It touches the connectors and interfers with the synaps
Extra dopamine causes his need for instant gratification
I taste the tears as they spill tumbling down
Feel the his fear, his terror of what lies ahead
I can hear his hurtful words as his temper flairs
Thankful for his hugs when he is calm
I am glad that he is able to work for inability lies ahead
Unless some researcher somewhere finds a treatment
If not only downhill slide is inevidible
Destruction of the brain will leave him unable to even swallow
Let my tears spill down, overflow touch upon my face
Taste the salt as they touch my lips
Let me face the daylight hours with courage and strength
Today he might stumble and fall into the horrors of the disease

When famous people die,
You get to look back fondly at their lives.
You get to see what they accomplished;
You get to read what people write.
You get images never seen before;
You open whole new doors.
You learn the truth and the lies;
All truth is revealed in due course.
When famous people die,
You find out who really deserves to be in ‘Who’s who.’
You remember their contribution to the world
And you wonder; what could I do?
How could I do something to earn that fame, that respect?
You wonder if your life, when you are taken,
Will have had any kind of effect.
When famous people die,
You become nostalgic for a youth long since gone.
When a famous person dies,
You remember them in poetry or in songs;
Or you remember their songs,
Or the movies they made during their life.
When a famous person dies,
Some of them become more famous,
Than they ever did when they were alive.
Remember fame brings you immortality;
So find yourself a way.
Amy Winehouse, Michael Jackson;
Kurt, Bowie and Prince.
I really liked them all when they were alive…
I have loved their music since.

STRANGE FRIEND
I had a friend both on Facebook and meeting him in person
he often sent me words of wisdom said by a famous person,
about loyalty and honesty, I often find these saying rather
banal and self-evident.
His dream was to be rich and have a big car, but like me, we
didn´t have the talent other than buying a lottery ticket.
I think he was selling things and made a modest living,
I tried to write and was equally unsuccessful, but we tried
in our clumsy way to find a road forward.
I often thought he didn´t really like me that much he was,
I think jealous of my relaxed attitude to life`s strange ways
And the disinterest in money.
I think he found me arrogant for calling a spade a spade,
people do not take the truth lightly, do I?
Suddenly he unfriended me on Facebook and declared
he didn´t want to see me again.
This tiding was pleasant I no longer had to pretend he was boring
and his range of conversations limited.
I have lost a few “friends” on Facebook, but it means very little
perhaps I should tone it down a little, be all friendly, that will be the day
This is a poem I wrote for the Crazy Christmas Carol member contest.
It is in reference to Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer. Hope you have some laughs!
Santa The Fat-Bellied Stranger
You know Batman and Robin
and Shakespeare and Poe
Oprah and Elvis
And Monet and Van Gogh
But do you recall
The most famous person of all?
Santa the fat-bellied stranger
(stranger)
Had a tummy full of ho's
(like Pavarotti)
And if he ever tried to
(tried to)
Couldn't even see his toes
(like a horse)
Now that he's getting older
(older)
With impotence and bum knees
(like McCain)
They never let poor Santa
(santa)
Savour all his common glees
(like Mrs. Claus)
Then one lonely Christmas Eve
Blue pill down the hatch
(please oh please)
Oh meds to my wife's delight
Won't you guide my libido tonight
Mrs. Claus from that day forward
(forward)
Always shouted out with glee
(have mercy)
"Santa you fat-bellied stranger
(stranger)
You'll go down in history!"
(like Casanova)
