Today I learned, once more, the lesson of loss.
Today I learned of a brother gone.
Tonight I pay my respects, in what words I can muster;
forever he is one of us.
I didn’t know him for all too long,
and never got all that close,
when it really comes down to it;
yet he was family to me.
He was a religious man, and one
that always had a huge grin on his face.
Without fail, he tried to make the rest of us
get along when arguments arose among friends.
He was the first one at my side
when my mother's mother passed away.
He volunteered as a firefighter, before all of this –
he had the strength to offer himself up
both to fight fire when he could,
and get in firefights if he had to.
I remember one day, late last year,
when he came to us and he wished
to lead us in saluting the half-masted flag
on the eleventh of September.
These were his words, on that day:
“In honor and remembrance of all the victims of the 9/11 attacks.
Class BCE 31-13 stood in formation saluting the American flag
in remembrance of everyone who … was associated
with what happened 12 years ago.
May we never forget what went on today
and that we will keep our country safe.
Honoring those who’ve passed before us.
We will stand our ground,
fight for our country
and fight to sustain our freedom.
For our friends, family, and strangers.
Oorah and Semper Fidelis to all.”
To follow something like that, all I can say is this:
almost nobody sees themselves as heroes,
and we never think we’ll get to meet
those who truly are.
We rarely see them as heroes either,
while we still could say our thanks;
it isn’t until they’re beyond our reach
that we realize exactly who has been taken away.
I count myself lucky to have known him.
For what they're going through,
I want to send my best to his first family;
and I'm glad I could be a part of his second.
I don't have his faith, and could not say for sure
if he'll ever read these words;
but I hope he knows exactly how much
a hero will be missed.
Everyone needs love
Everybody wants love
Not me, I want true love
You heard me, right
I want, I need true love
I need the type of love that causes me to live and breathe
Relax and be at ease
Yes, you heard me right
I need, I want true love
I don’t need counterfeit or artificial love
I can do without false love
Prentice love causes headaches and war
Violence and revenge
Anger and strife
Which leaves spouses without a husband or wife
I can do without worldly love
Lust and lies
Conflict and pain
Scars and heartache’s that’s not my goal or aim
I will no longer be frame
I prefer to refrain from lust, lies, and artificial love
In this life, I am out to gain
I will no longer be another man’s or woman’s fool
I have qualified from the Creators school
Here I learned that true Love
Should not make anyone another man’s fool.
Jesus Christ the very son of God
lived a life of humility so real
being a servant to all He saw
washing their feet was real deal
This Jesus showed His followers
how He wanted them so to be
by His life full of abundant grace
showing His loving mercy so free
So learn to be that humble person
that is for you the Lord's will
for in that position of humility
God will exalt you just be still
This humility is so very pleasing
in God's eyes and in His heart
for in that He sees His son
in all His fullness not just a part
Humble humble humble humble
drum it in continuously display it out
show this world God's on His throne
this is what Jesus is all about

My father said to me: “Hey Bob, what’s with you today?
You’ve been very quiet; you haven’t had much to say!”
I thought my time had come at last to tell them the news.
It just seemed hard now with me shaking inside my shoes!
I said: “Everyone, I just found a nice girl for me,
I’m sure you’ll all love her, she’s as sweet as she can be.”
They all applauded and didn’t let me finish here.
I said: “There’s a little more to this story, I fear
I don’t have much time left so this is what I will say,
It’s important that I marry this girl right away!”
Dad said: “Wait a minute son, you’re talking like a fool!
You haven’t finished college yet and then there’s law school!”
I said: “Dad, there’s this left and I hope you don’t go wild.
She’s spent the last five months as the mother of my child."
We have a tradition in our family…it’s as old as the wind…I’m guessing…
When a baby enters our world…the eldest member gives this blessing.
With the entire family gathered round…it’s a time for celebration
as this blessing is passed down to our newest generation:
May you grow up healthy and happy in a loving family
In a world that knows only of peace…where everyone is free.
May you be accepting of all people…and of all temptation…may you resist
and with every person of this world may you happily co-exist.
May you live to enjoy the seasons…winter, spring…summer and fall
May you respect the Earth and all her creations however great or small.
May you have success in life but realize you will fail too
and may you pick yourself up and try again…every time you do.
May you be surrounded by good friends wherever you may dwell
and may they know that you…are a good friend as well.
And finally may you grow up to be gentle, compassionate and wise
and may you always see the world through your innocent child eyes.
We’ve heard this blessing so many times we all know it by heart
We know every stanza, every rhyme, every sentence…every part…
And that is as it should be…for when we are the eldest at the celebration
It will be up to us to pass this blessing on…to our newest generation.
My girlfriend invited me to attend her birthday party
With full joy , I dressed up smartly .
I was over the moon thinking , my girlfriend would propose me.
I had a strong opinion that she will unveil our love in front of others.
I was pretty excited and I attended the party.
She was wearing a green gown and was looking gorgeous
Seemed like a beautiful peacock had made its presence felt
She gave a beautiful smile and gave a warm hug.
I was just a step behind entering heaven.
She cut the cake with her delicate hands glorifying her birthday party.
I was behind her waiting with a bated breath for her proposal.
Seemed like she was in a paradise enjoying the day.
She started dancing in an insane way.
In the process her sandals tore and she asked me to fix it
I obliged her order with a smily face.
She called a guy on stage, picked up a mic.
In front of everyone he proposed her.
Can you believe it she blushed and accepted his proposal.
Both of them hugged and kissed each other.
She asked me to take a snap of them kissing each other.
My heart was broken, my dreams shattered.
Tears of pain and embarrassment rolled down my cheeks.
I couldn't stay there for a second and retreated the place.
My heart beat rose to a crescendo.
My first love perhaps last ended in an abrupt tragedy.
What do you do with pain
What do you do with illness
You either give in or live with it
Surgeries, medications, herbal remedies
Prayer faith and atonement
Everyone suffers
Everyone hurts
Life is precious and fleeting
Is it unfair for life to drag endlessly in youth
And race away so fast as adults when we could use it the most
No use crying
Just smile
Limp along and use whatever aid you need
A cane, a walker, a brace, a wheel chair
but get out there in the thick of life
If others feel uneasy because of you
Let them, for everyone of those
There are the blessed souls who'll open a door
and assist you, God Bless the good
Life seems unfair but everyone has loss
everyone has fears, everyone has doubt
You are not the only one
You haven't been single out
You are not being punished
It's part of life
So if you need to when at home
Go ahead
Scream, shout , rage. cry, let it out, let it go
But have something to look forward to
Have something to believe in

Live with it.
I thought I knew all about trauma, from childhood so many years
Post-Traumatic Stress, anxiety, nightmares and so many fears
But look at all this now! There is trauma all around!
Everyone living through and many waiting for the trumpet to sound
I rely on the same survival skills I knew and of course I pray
For everyone going through all this, every single day
Bless you all with hope, comfort, peace and light!
Wrap yourself with gratitude and hold onto strength to fight!
These are the times, we thought that we would never see

The corona virus has crippled the
Economy and the nation
It seems to be on a death trip
Killing everyone it comes
In contact with
With several businesses having to
Closed their doors temporarily
Creates several problems
Like a recession
Businesses can’t pay the workers
If they’re not at work
How will people pay their bills
And have a roof over their heads
It’ll cause people to be homeless
It’s already taken away our social life
Causing people to feel like
Tuna in a can
It’s becoming worse and wide spread
That the shelves in stores are empty
With the items we need the most
Wipes and hand sanitizer
With a deadly virus upon us
Plus the start of a recession and
Hurricane season coming up
What’s to become of us now
Pray and pray hard
Even though it looks bad
Don't lose your faith
When the world around you disappoints…when on our leaders you begin to sour
If you want to change your attitude…at least for the moment…attend a baby shower.
That’s exactly what we did yesterday…and it was a wonderful place to be
as we prepared to welcome our great-granddaughter
into our diverse extended family.
It’s amazing how before she’s even born…before her parents take her for a test drive
before we’ve even met her…she’s already changed our lives.
From the moment we heard the news of this life Trista and Damien were creating
it’s astonishing how our lives have changed…as we sit on the sidelines…waiting
All the happiness she’s brought into our lives…all the joy into the world
while still inside her mothers womb…before her life’s unfurled.
Because when a woman is about to have a baby…life changes…
this truth is ironclad…
as she immediately becomes a mother and her husband becomes a dad.
From here there is a domino effect of changes…one day their baby will see
as people of all ages become grandparents, nieces, nephews…uncles, aunts
or great-grandparents like Deborah and me.
As I watched all the people at the shower…and saw their smiles
I thought…this is really sweet…
how everyone has already fallen in love…with someone we’ve yet to meet.
All these people wishing Trista and Damien well…
making it abundantly clear
there is a loving family waiting patiently….for their daughter to appear.
Who have seen the seed of a daughter begin to grow
and now….happily anticipate the flower…
who came together to celebrate…at a family baby shower.
Where love, friendship, family, and caring for one another….
were in the room for all to see….
Where for a moment our world was exactly the way
we hope the world outside that room will be.
