One day we can change our past, they say,
Rewrite the scripts of yesterdays.
With fingers tracing lines of fate,
Erase the sorrow, the love, the hate.
In dreams we paint the scenes anew,
Where broken hearts find healing true.
Each tear unshed, each word unsaid,
No longer haunt the paths we've tread.
Regrets dissolve like morning mist,
As shadows kiss the dawn’s first twist.
What once was lost, now found again,
In the realm where time bends and then
The echoes of our choices fade,
New melodies of joy are made.
Forgiveness blooms where guilt did grow,
The seeds of hope in hindsight sow.
One day we can change our past, believe,
In moments born from hearts that grieve.
For every scar a story’s cast,
One day, we can change our past.
Wish
I wish that I had known
That was the last time we’d ever embrace
I’d have held you until my arms went numb
Long enough for the memory to never erase
I wish that I had known
That was the last time we’d ever speak
I’d have asked a thousand questions
Talking until our voices were far too weak
I wish that I had known
That was the last time I’d ever see you smile
Watching your face light up once more
Would make traveling any distance all worthwhile
I wish that I had known
That was the last time I’d ever hear you laugh
We would have celebrated by raising a glass
And toasting on your behalf
I wish that I had known
That we were running out of time
Because the sentiments that remain unspoken
Are what haunt those left behind
a Loop poem
Tomorrow will surely dawn,
assuredly as in days bygone.
Will tomorrow be the same
as yesterday and today exclaim?
The Fates have been less than kind
kind is saved for those who do not doubt
doubt will cause the whole cosmos,
COSMOS, to unravel like loose weave.
I am of no importance,
in the grand scheme of things I’ve no chance!
Happiness for those who dwell
in kingdom’s light far away from hell.
Does death remove the torment,
torment memories when love was young,
young we imbibed precious wine~
wine and magical fruit of our youth?
Dead is dead like love fallen,
like in war my soldier was fallen
Death will claim me in it’s time
and erase my poem and my rhyme.
*****
Couplets mixed with 4 line stanzas, the last word, first word scheme is maintained in the stanzas. It can also be used in the couplets. Rhyme scheme is ab, cc, defg, hh, ii, jklm, nn, oo.
A variation of the Loop poetic form created by Hellon. There are no restrictions on the number of stanzas nor on the syllable count for each line. In each stanza, the last word of the first line becomes the first word of line two, last word of line 2 becomes the first word of line 3, last word of line 3 becomes the first word of line 4. This is followed for each 4 line stanza .

In the depths of my soul, I beg forgiveness,
For I know not the extent of the hurt I caused,
My apologies falter, mere whispers in the wind,
Yet, I bear them with sincerity, with a heart that bleeds.
I confess, I longed to be a reflection of strength,
A mirage of confidence masking my insecurities,
But in that pursuit, I lost sight of your tender heart,
And in doing so, I betrayed the essence of who I am.
Oh, how I ache to rewind the clock,
To erase the wounds I inflicted upon your spirit,
To rewrite the script of our shared narrative,
With verses of love, compassion, and understanding.
For I am but a flawed vessel,
Navigating the turbulent seas of self-doubt,
Yet in your presence, I glimpse the shore of redemption,
A sanctuary where forgiveness blooms like wildflowers.
So, my love, if you could find it in your heart,
To grant me the grace of your forgiveness,
I promise to embark on a journey of transformation,
Wherein every step I take is guided by the light of your love.
Let me not be defined by my mistakes,
But by the sincerity of my repentance,
And together, we shall weave a story of redemption,
Where our scars are but testimonies to the power of forgiveness.
In your arms, I find solace,
In your forgiveness, I find redemption,
For you are the beacon that guides me home,
My sanctuary in this tumultuous world.
I still hear your voice in my head
Still lingering on the things I said
Wishing I could take your place instead
You lifted me up
But you left an ember
We might be weak
But we were stronger together
But now I hold the ties you try to sever
You were the light in my void
Healing the scars I tried to destroy
But now you're gone
And I'm left to my own abyss
You shattered me to fragments
I try to piece together
Missing when you changed my weather
You lifted me up
But vanished again
You left a flickering
Smoldering flame
But now...
You're gone...
And I echo your name
Like an attachment
To an empty name
Like morning dew reflects your sight
You numbed the pain, but dulled the light
Like the morning brightness numbs through the mist
You got simple charms that're hard to resist
If I lost myself at the summit
Lost grip and start to plummet
Who would save me from the fall
who would save what can't resolve
Inner peace is hard to find
No place I can truly bind
I'm stuck to wander
Lost and ponder
Where to go
What it means
Who is it
That'll save me from my dreams
Losing you felt like I lost my way
Static feelings but wishing you'd stayed
Flickering darkness in broad daylight
I'd lie
and I'd lie
Until I'd die
Losing you felt like a puzzle to solve
Flickering emotions start to cease
Static hearts start to decrease
but why is everyone leaving me be
Losing you made me reach for closure
I bind you tight
Until it's over
I held you close
You held a knife
But now that you're gone
These are my final goodbyes
Who'll notice my candle burn out
Who's gonna save me from my doubt
If it's all in my head
why does it fill me with dread
But I wish I could've taken your place instead
I guess
I thought
Your love that made me ache
Maybe
The feeling I can't replace
Is just a memory from a lost grace
I don't know...
A place where I truly belong
I just thought...
The efforts
Would go away
But goodbye to the mistakes
I wish I could erase
Joy writes my soul a song
Song of hope, says I belong
Belong to One who’s never wrong
Wrong can’t destroy One so strong
Strong, a spirit who tells of grace
Grace for those who His light will embrace
Embrace those who hope to see Him face to face
Face of One whom time can never erase
Erase the sins who have brought me down
Down to the heartbeat that doubt can’t drown
Drown out the darkness with His lovely crown
Crown to remind us He will never cause us to frown
Frown that comes from knowing sin is still
Still telling our hearts to hear our own will
Will of the Father is good and will always fulfill
Fulfill the ones who know He gave us free will
Free will comes with a promise of His grace
Grace of this Jesus who always takes first place
Place where I know that He’s watching the race
Race for the precious joy of God’s sweet embrace
Embrace of the love that calls me to believe
Believe in the story so my soul will never grieve
Grieve for the moment when Jesus I receive
Receive in my spirit, His love my life’s reprieve
Reprieve from the shadows, the doubt and fear
Fear of the darkness when my souls sheds a tear
Tear that comes to those whose love is sincere
Sincere in believing Jesus, who will one day appear
The Infinitude of the Private Man
What fetters will chain the legs of man,
If the Creator himself so much liberty gave?
No prison can contain the ethereal soul of man
For his free-roaming self cuts across like a trave.
Which death will erase the footprints
Of the private man who does his wild share
And takes a rest behind his indelible shadowed self?
You may think he’s dead, but he’s always there.
The infinitude of the private man has no predator
Other than the artificial systems of a rehearsed society;
For if the tastes of the mortal kind were alone let to wander
The world wouldn’t be so full of the present non-working piety.
The infinitude of the private man has no known foe
Except the vain chase after the universal support;
If the chariots of independent thought were let to fly
The world would mingle with the heavens in a spurt.
So let the waves of the human mind follow their wild paths
And let all the ancient creeds be tested against the logical,
Accept all the mistakes that freedoms may occasionally commit ,
And see how the infinitude of the private man is practical.
We left home full of hope and determination.
Able bodied men in answer to a call.
Knowing only what we believe.
Yet not for a minute did we stall.
We set out fighting for our nation
To defend the values on which we were raised
Freedom fighters seeking no praise
Believing we would soon erase
The oppressions our people face.
Now on our return chanting a victory song
For we were gone not too long
Our city is a shadow of the life it used to have.
Our wives and children are taken
Our farmlands lies forsaken.
Barrenness has grown
Where there was once plenty
Despair has made us old.!
A QUOTE FROM THE SILENT ONE ,
"Love in adversity, becomes stronger, more passionate and sacred"
One moment they were dancing iin the dawning light of morning
and the next their hearts were dimmed, by life's bitter uncoring
he was beginning to forget the little things like tiny specks of dust
and as his thoughts turned to a mindfield, Dementia did persist
At the nursing home he much obliged for life at home was scary
God knows she tried but life got unpredictable and oh so weary
and as she hung to all the memories of their one special love,
she recalled their life together as one, like two turtle doves
Soon, the good Lord will usher him home with a sweet confide
and as she learns to live without may God endear her to his side
One day at a time Suzanne, his Love will co-exist upon your face
and nothing on this livng earth can take away dissolve or erase,
the love you once had and will have again, one day in Paradise.
P.S. My neighbor John only has a few more days to live
and my heart goes out to his loving partner Suzanne,
please include them in your prayers, thanks. xo
Waves of breeze, flow through trees like the sea
Shadows map pavement, below my ride
Sunbursts of warm rays are reaching out to me
My mind clears nicely, from all I tried
I ride through beautiful scenery
Shadows map pavement, below my ride
The land I pass, wrapped in greenery
With cool air softly touching my face
I ride through beautiful scenery
I leave worries behind to erase
Around each corner, freedom is there
With cool air softly touching my face
There seems to be nothing to compare
Movement flowing with a merging smile
Around each corner, freedom is there
Refreshing me with each passing mile
Waves of breeze flow through trees like the sea
I ride away with time for a while
Sunbursts of warm rays are reaching out to me
