Ever notice some looking at a cell phone,
while they are walking along- they just keep on talking;
or they are just looking and detached- and all else is unknown,
I watch them from my balcony getting off the bus and walking.
Now, the winding pathway into my building is quite dangerous,
it has many bumps and uneven surfaces, dips and cracks;
a guy on his cell was walking this path treacherous,
DUMBSTRUCK- he falls still looking at the cell phone as he smacks !

Her first date out was going to be groovy, lots of fun and go to a movie. Her girlfriend and date did go, they were off to enjoy the night with a glow. Half way through the movie show, his wandering hand went up her shirt real slow. He became dumbstruck to find no calling card, a very tight girdle was standing guard.

By things I see sometimes today
I’m dumbfounded and blown away.
I’ve seen folks driving far
all alone in a car.
Covid masks they still wear anyway.
I could see once a girl IN the pool.
Did a double take because that fool
kept the mask on her face
(though she swam with such grace),
yet there wasn’t a Covid mask rule!!
Once I watched from inside hubbie’s truck
a cute couple that jogged. What the fruck!?
Out in nature they wore
covid masks. Furthermore,
by themselves were they! I’m still dumbstruck.

(nothing against masks as mandated! Just a few things I thought were funny)
for the Dumbstruck Poetry Contest of Charles Messina
Wearing smiling masks, when inside we were dying
There was a thousand unspoken words and secrets in that touch.
I’m crying.
I’ve been here before. The players all changed the scene the same.
This mawkish girl falling into the maw of this wakeful dream
The players have changed the scenes the same
Forced to let go of all I know
And loved.
Dumbstruck with pain, no formal feeling comes
Awestruck with the swiftness which numbness gained
The wrenching heart in chaotic whirls
Like swirling, whirling, concentric whorls
Roiling, churning, toiling, burning up a sea of frothy-foam
Then it stops.
Nothing. Dead. Transfixed on a hum
Humming buzz, buzzing then it fades like a promise
A promise of peace
The mind sets free --it’s blank—but free
And like the corpse thawing from an icy-slumber I slowly awake and move on from loss
With the party in full swing
And the joy that this can bring
I wandered through the garden fair
Stood in the doorway mesmerized there
Sat on a stool in the middle of the lawn
Was a big Stag with a small Fawn
Suddenly a Tiger came
They started playing a childish game
As I watched in awe, dumbstruck in fact
An Elephant passed by with a Haversack
He saw a Mouse sat on the grass
Which freighted him, so he tiptoed past
I blinked my eyes, I must be dreaming
Suddenly a Hyena was screaming
More like a loud laugh, it had quite an effect
Made me smile and recollect
As I stood by the Garden Door
I shook my head and saw some more
Amazing things to think about
As a Bear walked by and he had gout
Walking slowly with a limp
In dark glasses, looked like a pimp
His black suit looked rather smart
Must have been bought at WalMart
My eyes are playing tricks on me I thought
It’s time to stop that’s what I aught
To be doing, stop this illusion
My mind is in such a state of confusion
Just then Dr Doolittle came walking by
Looked at me and just said Hi
Walked out through the garden gates
And took along all his garden mates
I then collapsed into a chair
Looked out again, there was no one there
This funny baccy, mixed with the drink
Made my mind hallucinate a bit I think
It’s time to stop now this has begun
Must be other ways to have fun
Walked back indoors so full of dread
Turned over quickly and fell out of bed.
As every cassock is enough to tell
You are a minister
Either a chorister or a pastor
To grace well and impel
Is seeing you become only God's toastmaker
Every sunset gives us one day less to live
Count your seeds of the spirit
Spread through undaunted love
And not the course of service's bigot
But testimonies of brethren who enjoy your patency
But every sunrise give us one day more to hope
Most time making all observations dumbstruck
Replying each and every with a thunderstruck
It is no near to count a botch
If its effects work like a troche
Hope for the best for we are all human
Flaws are inevitable but can be abandon
No one has ever achieve chancery with God
That has ever live on earth a slipshod being
But clinching His dictates can make you ratherish well-bred
Good Luck
Get strong
Beefing do suck
Flee off wrong
It gets growth abating
Be the David's type Shepherd
Familiar with the said story
Not needed to be re-established
Failure needs no sorry
Be up and doing...
When you stand up
And ask forgiveness
Just so you can win
How do you expect
Me to feel within
When I sit up
And take a stand
In what I believe in
You stare at me
You try to figure out
How you can win this game
Just so you can do it again
How can I take your side
When you don't wonder
How I've been feeling within.
As I stand up to walk away
You confront me with your
Frivolous lying words
You leave me dumbstruck
I don't know where to turn.
I stand there with tears streaming
As I turn to walk away from you
I pack my clothes to leave this place
I just wanna take that plane to where I began
As you beg me not to go from you
I stare back at you and feel lost
Though I'm just looking through you
All I know is I just wanna get away
Just so I can feel safe within.
“Why d’you take so much care? Why don’t you dump her altogether?”
That’s the question they ask me for the umpteenth time and more.
She lies upon her bed; her blank stares pierce the mirror in front of her
The immovable torso that she has been accursed with lay facing the door
Twenty years ago met a beautiful girl with the man she liked
The courtship period soon passed by, the marriage was solemnized
Wedding guests had a sumptuous meal, everyone was satisfied
The fairy tale began; the new couple merry, their life was prized
Perhaps you thought the fairy tale would survive? Heck, no—
Two years later we were on a hilly terrain ride
Squall and thunder, a great boulder suddenly had a go
The car slipped and somersaulted; seconds later a tide
Gripped me by awe, my beautiful girl was in a pool of blood
She survived; only to be left in such a ruin
I was dumbstruck; had a great pain to evade the flood
Of public sympathy, anyway once again made ‘our’ life a-going
Since then we have been living here, people ask me why
I haven’t dumped her; left her at her own fate
People are crazy, their pokes and nudges should be kept at bay
Have you been answered? Well now I think am getting late
Several miles downtown my mistress’ bed is prepared; she must be looking my way
November again!
Striked euphoria, inevitable pain
clouds dry with no rain
dried are those eyes
and those mastermind lips
clichéd, dumbstruck! only losses, no gain
Little sweetums!
it's your fault,be in shame
It's November again!
January excites, May takes away
misery extends till predator's pray
reticence of melancholy, no words to say
August pours in the void
Till the fall you become paranoid
hopes were false and true fears came
It's November again!
to which it's almost an end
but with the end and the stain
Little sweetums!
It's your fault,be in shame
It's November again!
A cautionary tale of nocturnal abduction
Of trickery born of unearthly corruption
Heed these my words, I state categorical
Of evil so foul, in a world diabolical
No humour here that might ever be satirised
No wit in a man who be dumbstruck and paralysed
These, the last words that shall flow from my pen
Implore thee to leave ’fore the bat flys again
This God forsook kingdom of bloodied terrain
Deadens my legs as it scribes on my brain
A Halloween vista of gore ridden mud
With vampires feasting on alien blood
