Down in the valley of Death
Where the Demons live
Many a man has heard their call
Which has killed his soul
And at the altar where witches chant
Their dark spells out do fly
And many a man has lost his life
Bye and bye
This is the land where Demons live
Ravaging life and mind
And all the music of the universe
Is in their evil darkness cursed
This is the land where Demons live
A land of violence and crime
Covered with blood and endless tears
A land of hate and infinite fears
This is the land where Demons live
A land of war and death
Of poisoned wine from deep dark wells
And minds that live in inner Hells
This is the land where Demons live
A world of wretchedness and sin
Where dreams are all forever lost
As the wreck of their world is taken in
I asked GOD one day, in my small, little voice,
"What does it matter, whatever the choice?"
So as the sun dazzled, the breeze softly said
"It only will matter just before you are dead."
And it shocked me to hear FATHER'S words, crystal clear.
But my spirit was listening when HE whispered "Don't fear.
"For you are MY child, and I have something in mind."
So I waited and wondered, and hoped HE'D be kind.
He said, "Daughter, I know that you've been so alone.
"And I know that you feel as if starting to drown.
"This gift, I will promise, will come when it's time.
" Just know that a rhythm will flow to your rhyme.
"But patience is key, I know it is hard.
"But also, I know the heart that you guard.
" And because I love you, and this love you emit,
"Do not despair, or think you should quit.
"As certain past trials have left you betrayed,
"There is someone I know that also has prayed."
And I looked to the heavens, with tears in my eyes.
"Oh child, know that I hear all your cries.
"You will no longer feel you are lost in a sea.
"There is another that has been calling to ME.
"And with love, and light, and friendship to start,
"One day this love will open his heart.
"He will see you with eyes he did not know that he had.
"And you will wonder how you ever felt bad.
"But you have to be strong and walk in your faith."
But I thought to myself, "I don't think I can wait."
HE smiled and suddenly I knew it was true.
Then all of a sudden, I was meeting you.
And even not knowing, that you were the gift,
Something inside me started to shift.
But I somehow forgot of that chat with my GOD.
And I began living where demons had trod.
I do not remember the exact time or place,
That I fell into step with HIS mercy and grace.
Throughout these years that we've been aligned,
It's simply amazing to me that I find
You in my thoughts as I sleep, when I wake.
No matter the distance, or the time it might take.
So I know, without question or doubt
That everything has a way and works out.
And I love you beyond what I'd hope it could be.
Because when I prayed for you, HE gave you to me.

“The Old Warrior”
They look at me and shake their heads
That non-compliant taking up this bed
They whisper in a tone that says it all
And hurry to enter a note so small.
Do they know I buried my wife a month ago?
That my time to grieve may be too slow
I cannot see my pills so well these days
For my eyesight is slowly fading away.
I would love to tell them of the time
I fought the enemy behind their lines
I long to tell them that in my prime
I worked all day in the hot sunshine
Defending this country with sweat and blood
Earning the right to occupy this bed.
All I ask is that you treat me good
And hold my hand when the demons come
Look at me as you would your Dad
Envision me in the life I had
And when I slowly close my eyes
Salute this soldier and let me die.
Deborah M. Kelly?
I am not a Poet
I know this fact true and full well
In the orthodox conventional literal way
As I am not able to use set standard form
So what I write
Therefore does not conform
So I agree wholeheartedly not disagree
Technically I am not a Poet
All I am is simply someone who
Likes to write and comment about things
That don't necessarily fit any set remit
But yet I still want to have a go
So I end up having to encroach
And impose and join in other ways
And blur the lines and rules of engagement
Because although I may not be a poet
1 thing I can admit is this
I suffer through my words
Like any tortured Poet would
As to me writing is more about
Exposure of one's true self soul and heart
Than a form of compliance to an art
If that stifles my openness and integrity
And does not keep my demons at bay
Rather lets them lie in wait
And my silence further leads onto
Yet more inevitable tortured mistakes
One day, life will leave my battered carcass.
One day, I will no longer belong to this rotten world.
Today, my suicidal urges mock Death with laughter.
I waste the breath of life that my universal force gave me freely.
I came from the darkness, and I shall end in the furnaces of my own destruction.
Doing good is a duty, to soothe the wrath of the Creator.
I will end in the flames of my own hell.
Like all those innocent souls, I too have suffered.
I know every face of death.
I have worn every mask of misery.
I am but an ignorant man, aware of his ignorance,
Thirsty for knowledge like the builders of the pyramids.
I chose to laugh so my demons would remain silent.
Since I learned to walk, my tears have dried.
I stand for truth, justice, liberty, equality, and righteousness.
I believe fraternity is an absurd notion, drenched in hypocrisy.
I hate the racists who preached humanism and universalism
Only to sanctify racialism and supremacism.
“The beauty you see in me is a reflection of you.”
Rumi
When I look in the mirror, I see myself,
But sometimes, when I look deeper,
I see you and everyone else.
When beauty surrounds us,
It already exists within, likewise with the ugly,
What we avoid in us we cast on others,
But it only unveils what lays underneath;
As we are projecting from scars,
Buried by Ego and our demons.
Let go of fear and sit with your shadows,
Talk to them and ask who they really are;
What’s behind all that anger and guilt?
You’ll know the answer, just quiet your mind;
The vibration you give out,
It’s the frequency you receive;
We’re ascending towards the Source;
No judgment, but a better understanding,
For the world is a mirror,
And we are the reflection in it.
That was then
when the truth was a lie
scorching the bitter tongue
of unseen circumstances
that crawled on the belly of youthful unrest
running toward the darker quarters
where Angels left wearing halo hats
leaving demon shepherds
tending their flocks with rapid hunger
in scurrilous realms of debauchery
as soldiers returned with fractured hazy minds
seeking relief
under spinning glass balls of glittering glow
hung from a ceiling
above a floor of changing colored lights
in a time of turmoil and change
from black and white fountains
bolted to school walls
as people gathered torches to burn cities
and men in power tossed crumbs like chum
to the hopeless and poor
This is now
where lies are the truth
feeding the tongue of consent
that litters the sacred ground of heroes
with garbage thrown
by demons wearing the cloth of righteousness
guiding their flock of ignorance to doom
with their fevered abandonment of reality
created for cruelty and lust for power
paid with thirty pieces of gold
their blistered hands carry artificial signs
of self-importance
as their ears swell from the chanting call
from the demons
pulled from within their soul
wanting to bolt the black and white fountains
back on the walls of intolerance
knowing the kingdom of hell is within them
they toss crumbs like chum
to the hopeless and poor
i stand for my tears
when i'm hurt
i touch the ground with them
spatter and sear the fear
hanging my head
high or low
i share my thoughts
until it's my time to go
fighting for a leader
a leader quilted and unsightly
stricken for an absence of space
a plateau of ruins and wrinkles faceless
lost by desire
i was stricken so tasteless
cold weather wishing
driven me pale
back and forth
hoping that time sways us well
trapped in my four corners
Keeping my mail un-shelved
misery is a sanctum
you must rebuild yourselves
the preparers destiny
mumbling words of wisdom
when days become awry
choose your halo's and thank them
as a child my cornered demons
thwarted me freely
now congested to societies abnormality
my peers are subject to mirror me
the doom through my third eye
at the crescent of mercury's pyramid
a phantom to peaceful days
because i'm calling it as it appears to me
"every now and then we're given a fighter"
Normalcy seemed to resound
like a year-end brag letter,
for out of reach are those possibilities
when locked up in a ward.
Voices itched inside her body
and creepies crawled along her skin.
Scheduled meds didn't cessate this,
just kept the demons from screaming
loud enough for others to hear.
I ask about her, in cordial simplicity,
through our sporadic letter correspondence,
but those words only fill a void
that speechlessness requires,
for I know she isn't well.
Unable to contribute to society
must be a burden of worthlessness.
Long term, she hasn't seen
the trials of the outside world,
only the weight of sin within.
No muscular arms carry that weigh with love
and no one receives her vain attempts.
Many boyfriends have left
over a decade ago
and took her sanity with them.
Possible opportunities of redemption
are now ghosts that taunt.
I flounder for words
to tell her plainly about
what's going on with my life.
Marriage, kids, home, hobbies, a job,
all common things, generic to many,
seem like a year-end brag letter,
for in her life
all these things
could have been,
but are now far out of reach.
Instead, I prayerfully and artfully inscribe
just one phrase, and only this,
"Happy spring, a new beginning."

Satan tormentor of my dreams;
Deep into that darkness avalanche;
On that day my soul grew in ambers;
Lit on fire condemning---
Once upon this brilliants midnight silent;
I confess between you and me;
Both profess being ungodly;
But you no longer get my praise;
I now relinquish my chains;
Bound to hell only you not me, Satan GET THEE BEHIND ME…
I awoke and flung the HEET;
Instead I uncovered the sunshine heaven’s lined peace;
It threw its Satan’s ghost against the winds
Chaotic demons through which came sweltering, sweltering, sweltering…
They are perfumed from unseen kinds;
And the storms never shaping time;
But in the fact that it was cheeping;
Take thy static from out my heart peeping;
You warned me about the upstart;
Get out, Satan Get out;
Deep into that darkness twisting;
While I pondered, geometrical and existing;
And the downdrafts never tapping;
It was happening, just believe it-it’s happening;
Remembering many benign, crooked descents;
It threw its ghost against the disturbances;
The dynamic brought such sorrow;
Death shall bring slopes, fallen shadows;
I have dreamed further of the infernos;
I ask God this is not where I want to go;
Deep into that darkness ramping
Suddenly I see a light…
I hold on to Jesus tight;
That moment my soul grew benevolent;
I walked through HelL,
but I didn’t stay there;
Hallelujah! Heaven now awaits
