The story is told of a Maori King bold
Who dared cheat the Prince of Siam.
I’ll leave it to you to decide if its true.
But if you're not convinced, at least I am!
This king was annoyed so he filled his bored void
By selling the fauna of his wee land.
He soon grew in fame, none dared speak his name,
He was the richest in all of New Zealand!
But this roll could not last; the fates swooped in fast
With an invoice for arrogant King Frodo!
A prince of yon borders sailed in with his order
For a half dozen snakes and some Dodo.
“The snakes are all gone!” Frodo said with a yawn.
"And we ate the last Dodo last week!”
Thus the king blew him off with a wave and a scoff;
“Look elsewhere for that which you seek!”
But the prince had prepaid! And he screamed out in rage,
“What is that in the cage with the hasp?”
King Frodo’s eyes narrowed, “I won that from Pharaoh,
And that, that’s a two-headed asp!”
“And though its not fair, it is simply too rare,
Now be off or I’ll soon have your head!”
But the prince made this threat, “Dear King you’ll regret!”
Then he left leaving Frodo to dread . . . . . . .
At daylight’s first gleam, you could hear Frodo scream
As he raced to the harbor to spy,
And lo, by the pier was a note on a spear . . .
“Keep my gold! . . . But kiss your asp goodbye!”

Italian boys go through a mafia stage.
Idolizing old gangsters and their lead-ripping ways.
Dreaming in blood money, wearing a pair of snake eyes.
Diamond-studded vixens flashing pearl-glazed thighs.
Scar faces -speak easy whisky- drowning out the sun.
Nights vibrating with the chatter of dancing Tommy guns.
One step behind the reaper, one ahead of the cherries.
Beneath marble tombstones, a code of honor is buried.
but
Italian boys soon realize they haven't got the balls.
To live life on a knife edge, go toe to toe with the law.
I was no different and settled into a cage of mundane
a nine-to-five carousel where all Italian stallions are chained.
The Nightingale
Like a nightingale,
she sits in her gilded cage.
So whatever could be wrong?
She has a sad tale.
Though inside she seethes with rage,
she sings the loveliest song.
Hate is in her heart;
revenge in her pretty head
as she plots the perfect crime.
She plays her sweet part;
while her captor feels no dread,
the nightingale bides her time.

(oops, I had edited my metaphor to be a nightingale instead of a dove as I originally intended, and I forgot to change the last line. I hope this makes more sense to people now that I have changed the last line!)
In the days of wine and roses
April showers fresh the air
Garden sculptures change their poses
Streets are leading everywhere
Sun is shining through the curtain
Through the gluey young green leaves
And I’m fairly well ascertain
You’re the reason of all this
On the cloth of glowing satin
Bowl with fruits, and open cage
Magic songbird sings in Latin
Memories of Golden Age
Boats are gliding down the river
Ours is most lazy one
Wings of dragonfly in quiver
Shimmer with reflected sun
We were heading for tomorrow
But we docked at yesterday
Days of joy, and days of sorrow
Built that harbour of pale gray
Home together, here's the bind
Every morning brings new rose
Every evening brings new wine
It's exactly what we chose
Home, unreachable for troubles
Garden, always quite the same
Life’s a boy, who blows fine bubbles
On the picture of Millais.
Hunger when I see you
What's an animal to do?
Reaching for perfection
With nothing but affection in my heart
Fear aside, come step into my cage
Where the air is dry but cooler in the shade
Blind since my recapture
To does and does not matter
Just because you're paranoid
Doesn't mean that they're not out to getcha'
Friends appear and will tell you of their dreams
And enemies, well, they're never what they seem
Eclipse of the sun with the birds anticipating
Fall of the one time mighty jungle king
The whole point of no return
Was a landslide of earthly concern
'Only time I knew my place
Was when they rang my bell and then they ran away
Close your eyes, lo' and behold the truth
And what you feel belongs to none but you
No complaints, I've no regrets
I've made my peace with what is left
And my pride it was no gift it
Was a curse I will be glad to have lifted
The price I paid I choose not to remember
With a leap of faith and the courage to surrender
The fall of the once so mighty jungle king
The world still turns and the birds, they still sing
Solstice…
Solstice…
How can I drag myself without divine wine?
I am falling, and I need wine to be mine.
Being inebriated has its own joy,
To me, heedless and headless both are just fine.
I am tired of me being without me.
The me left me, and I don’t know where is he.
He is not me; where is he gone? He is missed.
I am not me; me is not him; who are we?
I am done with my faith, love, and devotion.
With this gray hair, my soul has no emotion.
Where is my bottle of wine? How much more pain?
I’m done with the desert drown me in ocean.
How much longer for my chalice to get filled?
How much more is enough before I get killed?
I came in, and I stayed, and now, it is time.
I must break from my cage that I didn’t build.
The sky is full of tears; it washes my pain.
To me, the best remedy is dancing in rain.
Am I going to dance once more as it rains?
Hope I will see the next year, and then complain.
The good and all the bad are kept within us.
If you have it, you will lose it; have no fuss!
The more you gain, the more you lose when it's time.
Keep only love for good; not much to discuss.

This poem is in the form of "Rubaiyat", it is the plural form of Rubai. Rubai is a quatrain with the rhyming of AABA. Each Rubai is a book by itself, it starts and ends within the quatrain, but when it's in the form of Rubaiyat, it follows the single theme with the same meter throughout. Poetrysoup has a good explanation of this format.

So tiny, yet so vast: a square of purple flame,
A postal stamp formed from forever lame.
Houses at its center a half-cast, cloudy glass,
Trapped in a gilded cage of grief and lilac crevasse.
Bedecked in the hue of storm-light, a figure stands,
A gaze carved from ache, hair as comet strands.
Static roses, suffused in blue, stood behind,
Each petal burned by cords, yet spirit did not mind.
Rain doesn't soak into his skin or asphalt as he vies,
Yet, unshed tears flow from the dream to the sky.
The water leaves his clothing with faint rings,
But in this dampness, nostalgia unfurls its wings.
O, how you bend and blaze, purple witness—
A design firmly woven into the yarn of threnody.
Your quiet strength lingers as words fade,
A melody that pain cannot shatter or jade.
Let this stamp be a symbol in all mortal prayer—
For timid souls who dare not weep amid silk fare.
A poignant lament for love wrapped in mauve grief,
A message sent to a visitor, destined for the glyph.
Superstitious tongues childhood blights
Exorcisms and voodoo fill his nights
A cursed birth, a an evil within
Only he knows that the devil is him
How else can a child so bright
Make sense of such a plight?
No spell can cast his evil out
But leaves him scarred
and in no doubt
That those who care are mistreating him:
Youthfulful belief had him filled with fear
Now he knows that those he held dear
Saw only the power his shadow could weild
Untramelled knew not his mind is a sheild
hes the founder of a design business lo and behold!
Recessions see it fail, misery round the world
But each time anew, his charismap so bold
Saw business and enterprise for him unfold
"Mind razor sharp
Strategy got me through
Both violence and crime
And a degree or was it two.
The devil within had a different plan
Twas but disease afflicting the man
Who every adversity had over come
Stronger than me, not a single one
" I fought for my place
I fought to the top
Even when hopeless
I fought left to rot
They can take it all:
faith in my father
hollow loyalty
Gone is my eye but
never clearer I see:
No place on earth now
Is safe for me, trusting and
Loving no more I allow
Family and friends I disavow
To live is to sufffer
And pain has no end.
Trials far tougher
Just round the bend
Now love turns to hate
As delusions grow
My hurt so great
Hurt I cause less so
Promise of tomorrow?
, that I have none
No feelings of sorrrow
Just safety of my gun
Behold and shiver!
My venimous rage
a deadly viper
... I spring from cage
My tongue whip smart
Knows just what to do
A future in which I'll play no part
Or so I thought but things do cbange
What I did is done, but life is strange
And the carnage I caused can be erased.

" She said he so dumb he thinks that Alcubierre Drive
is three doors away from his destination.
I tried to explain to him that was Warp Drive he then talked about
getting a new car. That's one dumb fella I tell ya!" Said StratonMusse':
he knows his block making though, formula, and production.
He has a skill for density and scaled production procedures.
I found him keen and quite genius.

So few will ever see
A clown’s sorrowful tears
His hopes, his dreams, his fears
Hidden so expertly
Can it ever be known
A clown’s most cherished thoughts
His soul, tangled in knots
To us is never shown
He lives but to perform
He seeks that center stage
The actor’s gilded cage
He covets as the norm
It’s heavenly to him
To make the people smile
And laugh for but a while
For life is awfully grim
May God bless every clown
Who brings a bit of mirth
Who lights this darkened Earth
In ways small but profound
Huzzah! Now let us cheer
The jesters now and past
Who place their feelings last
Who hide from us their tears
