This is the moment not by chance
 a collective component enhanced
 Believed probability
Received from God in all His capability
Newness thought gleaned
And brought to the conscious mind not to be denied
Severed and kind spread planet seeds
 In the ground
Wholesome bound
To the Earth terrain plain
Growing as it rains
God's prosper it's all steadfast proclaimed
I am adolescent babe searching a seed
Planet into the mother blossoming forth growing being
 Nurtured blossoming forth growing
I am found in the arms of my Father and in HIM
I am beautifully and wonderfully made I am
Am of my Father's garden a seed planted in His soil
and watered I am a child
Child of my Father garden

Premium Member Saturday Night, and Nothing To Do

It was 1949.
Slow music was playing on the radio.
A young, handsome fast-talking 24 year old named Dick was driving around small town Iowa in a yellow convertible with red interior, feeling pretty cocky until his car went off a bridge and he found himself on foot.
He had not been on foot since he was 16, and he was pretty pouty about it.
Let’s go to the skating rink, a friend said.
He was about as interested in skating as he was interested in staying home on a
Saturday night, to listen to the radio.
The friend kept hounding him, trying to lure him there with the promise of pretty girls, cheap pop, snacks, finally breaking him down because there was nothing else to do, on foot.
Dick had to scramble over many years of junk in the shed, and open a multitude
Of boxes before he found his skates.
By the time they arrived, he’d set his mind hard against having a good time.
Until this tiny waif of a girl with snapping brown eyes started showing off her skills.
She was doing circles, figure eights, dizzy lous, and pretty sallies, skating around the floor with the expertise of a nymph, turning herself backwards, forwards and upside down.
The competition was now on. Dick laced up those skates lickety split.
He could not wait to show her his skills.
She was young, focused, and not interested in the least.
She was the champion ignorer of all times, and it drove him nuts.
Pretty soon he was hanging around the office where she worked, daily, trying to get her to look up.
She ignored him there too.
He told me the story and I laughed.
She ignores you at home too, Dad, I told him.
She didn’t even look up.

Dad- Father's PDay

When I first started school, we
went to the store to buy pencils
and such.
These were days when stores were
very small, and a customer meant
so very much.
The shiny gold pencils stood proudly
were in a tall glass jar.
So shiny with luminous green bands.
Just waiting for the touch of a little girl's
hands!

Things were wonderfully personal
back then.
Loose leaf paper was not jammed
in hard plastic cases like now.
And I could smell fresh boxes of
crayolas wafting throughout the store.
This is all touching to recall.

Best of all Dad, just you and I!
No long lines with huge baskets
waiting to buy.
You chatted with the owner, as
you, yourself, had a store, too.
I stood there with brown braids.
Licking an ice cream cone and
waiting for my paper and pencils
in a nice, brown paper bag.
So very proud, you were my
Dad!

We walked home on clean, safe
streets.
Filled with large trees.
A VFW on the corner.
How many children know what
that is?
Flags in windows with stars!
Of those whose children were
off in other countries, fighting
for us during the War.

Happy Fathers Day to my Dad
and all Fathers, everywhere!

Love, Panagiota

Premium Member Going to Semaphore Beach

Hot summer afternoons
and the call
of glistening water lapped
a child's mind with a want.
Just home from work
we would pester our father
until he relinquished
and took us to the beach.

At low tide,
feet had to splash through
what seemed like a mile
of ridged and rippled shallows
before the water was deep
enough to swim
and wheeling arms
could be swung
without touching the bottom.

Heated all day
by a January sun,
the water was as warm
as pee. Long tentacles
of dead, brown seaweed
clung to arms
as if trying to snare
a soul in revenge
for some storm torn horror
that had ripped it out its bed.

But all too often
it ended the same.
Tramping back to shore
across the endless shallows,
feeling hotter than when
you first went in. Flies clouding
sweaty faces and then
there was the hot vinyl
back seat of the car
to burn bums
on the way home.
All washed micraclessly
from memory when, next day,
the mercury nudged 100
and a want
beckoned us to the beach again,
still no wiser
than the day before.

Love Dies Like a Tree

It takes a long time for a tree to die.
Though its trunk be almost severed with the axe.
There was plenty of sap above
Then the leaves began to wither
and fall though it was spring time...

It takes a long time,to forget.
Not to remember
How to live.

First the tree stops growing.
It pauses,as if waiting for a message.
Then,as I said, the leaves turn brown.
It all takes time.Time to stop waiting

The leaves drop, then the smaller branches shrivel.
Humans also find that when ill, the hair may stop growing
And the finger nails.
We sacrifice the less important pieces of ourselves.
Even the most.

The small branches shrivel and dry out....
Yet the tree still looks alive.
Then gradually we notice it's drying out;
it's branches are parched and soon the trunk dries too.
It may split in places and insects make their home there.

It takes a long time before the trunk dies.
From the top down it dies.
The sap is too limited in quantity
To climb the trunk....
So the sap stays near the ground.
Eventually the whole tree seems dead
Yet in the roots there is still subterranean life.

The tree has died and is now brown and leaning a little sideways
No longer magnificent in display.
Time is all it needed
After the sharp cut...
And sometimes the roots are strong enough
To begin to send up new shoots
Another tree may grow..
I have seen that.

People ,of course ,die more quickly.
We have no roots.
And what of love, how does love die?
Like a tree,like a tree,like a tree.

Premium Member Touch of November

The glare of summer is long gone,
through window open on pale lawn,
music of rustling leaves I hear.
As autumn scene fades I see clear,
sky sparkles with sapphire allure,
silk clouds drift on silver contour.

Thin thickets trap tinge of sunblast,
hued web on them won’t ever last.
Bronze leaves have long begun to fall,
hearing the waiting winter’s call.
Brown grass blades on auburn meadow
sip scarlet sunrays, and they glow.

After the pristine pearls of dew
dry up at end of the day new,
in my heart twilight gleam will flow.
Touch of November’s last warm glow
I will soak to the full, and hold
for gloomy times of winter cold.

A Long, Gray Season

It settles over the horizon,
gray, dark smears of gray,
and above it casts a pall
of overcast. Ominous it looms,
but no thunder comes,
it won’t come again until
spring warmth leaches back
into dry, dismal air.

Gray season has settled in,
from All Hallow’s Eve until
a distant day of fool’s,
It wraps the north, blots the sun
to a dim point of distant,
dying light.

The world starts as brown,
then flakes fall, sleet,
rain that freezes and dooms
drivers everywhere.
Brown to white, the white
mottles with the gray,
and all other colors fade,
save stalwart evergreens.

Cold comes, wraps around you,
gets within you.
Turn on lights to avoid it,
start fires to undo it,
warm showers to defy it,
but it’s there, pressing,
day after day, until you feel
that cold and gray are forever,
reason be damned.

It’s a long, gray season,
and it fits a gray mind.
So I rest, then I revel.

The Critter Cascade

I was walking down a Vermont road
to stretch my legs and blow off stress,
stone walls flanked the hard, brown dirt,
half-obscured by dead leaves and grass.

When a fast rustling caught my ear,
I turned my eyes left to see,
exploding over the rock wall
came a flustered, frantic turkey.

He sprinted hard on spindly legs,
and it noud gulps gasped for breath,
then crossed the road and disappeared,
the cause for it not revealed yet.

Then suddenly, from the same place,
a majestic buck leapt in,
blowing hard, half-exhausted,
but the stag kept up the sprint.

Had he sent the turkey running?
This I thought as he bounded clear,
then I asked what had spooked him,
started the running of this deer?

Just them a large, robust black bear
streaked hectically onto the ground,
I froze in fear at this bruin,
he must’ve weighed three hundred pounds!

But this bear didn’t notice me,
he panted hard and was afraid,
followed the buck into the woods,
what could cause this panicked race?

Suddenly a sprinting hunter
dashed out onto the dirt road,
big rifle there in his hands,
a threat that smart animals know.

But he kept running, half-shaking,
giving me not even a glance,
what, I say, could put to flight
a fully grown, well-armed man?

Next, in a burst of braying,
came the hunter’s big draft horse,
his shoulders taller than I stand,
weighing two thousand pounds of more.

He was sweating profusely,
charging on with a heavy gait,
taking off after the hunter,
into the woods to make his escape.

I stood stunned and wondered
what could this all be about?
Then scurrying onto the road
came a tiny, harmless mouse.

If sniffed a bit, then disappeared
underneath some dead, brown leaves.
Had this rodent triggered the horse,
and started this whole crazy scene?

I just rolled my eyes at it,
Then kept walking on my way,
to think that such a tiny thing
could cause such a strange cascade…

Premium Member Cake of Love

I bake this cake
I filled the plate
I mix the ingredients
oh! of heaven flowers
And manna from heaven
God's own living waters
Yes, God's tears from the clouds
For He once regretted He made man
From God's heart sugar His love's sweet
Let's not forget the yeast Christ risen above
After He shed His blood, shed His blood
All these things I bring
alas I sing
All these things I bring
this is my cake of love
Jesus own blood He show me love
Egg of Adam flavored of love Christ risen
Golden brown from the ground
This cake love
From God's heart sugar His love's sweet
Let's not forget the yeast Christ risen above
After He shed His blood, shed His blood
All these things I bring
alas I sing
All these things I bring
this is my cake of love
oh! of heaven flowers
And manna from heaven
God's own living waters
Yes, God's tears from the clouds
God has created the ingredients for this cake of love

My Pretty Thing

Morning comes
I'm glad to see
time to wake
my pretty thing

sleepy eye's
yawning sigh
wash away the
teary eye's

time to dress
look your best
brush your hair
you make me stare

time to eat
time to pray
thank the Lord
for food today

then it's time to say
good bye
listen to my baby cry

kiss your head
and promise to
hurry back real soon

all day long
I think of you
my little girl
how I love you

tinker bells
pony tails
ice cream cones
toy telephones

almost noon
time to call
baby wish you
didn't fall

wait till quarter
after three
then my smilling face
you'll see

hate to say
good bye to you
little girl
I love you too

all these people
bossing me
can't wait to see
the end of day

then it comes
before I know
the end of day
time to go home

can't wait to see
my pretty thing
can't wait to swing
her on her swing

but first I'll find
her a surprise
I want to see
her smilling eye's

then I see
the Greatest thing
my baby running
straight to me

then I hand her
the surprise
a little doll
with big brown eye's

here you are
my pretty thing
a little doll
to love you too

just the thing I
want for you
what you give me
i want for you

then you look into
her eye's
almost made me
want to cry

little girl come
and eat
then I'll give you
something sweet

come lets go
to the park
let's go home
before it's dark

then we'll wash your
toe's and hands
send you off
to sleepy land

just before we'll
kneel and pray
God bless your
little heart today

A story and
a lullabye
kiss your head
and say good night
