Lodestar, you are my canopy
I'm in need of a friend
away from the galactic storm
promise me your friendship
tote your guiding star
away from the black hole
I've felt your scars
Me I know nothing
I'm evolving
so they moved me along
my planet's path sewn

On ocean's journey the wee lad set sail
slight frame a-tremble and gaunt face so pale
His fortune and fame for to seek
The grand ship had been christened the 'Lodestar'
Rugged build for adventure's repertoire
This voyage not one for the meek
To ports far from home, to islands unknown
A typhoon sprang up, the poor lad did groan
His future looked bleak
African pirates cursed and swash-buckled
Hyenas unleashed their high-pitched chuckles
Overcome, the lad couldn't speak
Ship's captain gave the order, 'Walk the plank.'
The wee lad woke just in time to give thanks
To his bedroom door for its creak

O Sun, my lodestar, I shall not profane Thee
You guide my way, to greet the outcast amiably
Yea, though mine is an era bereft of civility
You beam down upon me, mercifully

To My Lodestar
On
Anniversary 53
By: Miracle Man

Today we celebrated anniversary number fifty-three,
Ernestine thought at the start she’d soon change me.
Now she says the excitement has been too hard to bear,
Like “Eating mashed potato sandwiches”, while pulling hair.
She didn’t know that in Webster’s unabridged you’d see,
Beside the word pugnacious, there was a picture of me.
Now I know, “A house divided against itself, cannot stand,”
But with two careers, we’ve enjoyed, “The fat of the land.”
“We’ve fought the good fight” and continue together,
We’ve had many sunny days and some stormy weather.
And now as we approach the end of life’s course,
We still plow our field, as a team, not a single horse.
With all our shortcomings we’ve both done our best,
God has blessed our lives as we’ve faced each test.
We are surely well thought of by all of our peeps,
If “A person is known by the company he keeps.”
Dedicated to my Lodestar

On 53 years of putting up with me.

Distant piano.........
Sonatas in the fountain
notes on notes upon me
falling down
in stardust
burning sparks and embers
blistering with anguish
the skin I wear without you
shadow songs of sunsets
roses into ashes
distant fires remembered
in your listless eyes.
Peel the husk
of time
to borrow
back
one moment
of forgiveness
calibrate my soul's
ecliptic
meet me somewhere
past tomorrow...............
be the lodestar
of my heart.
again.
