If I could grow a lemon tree
I would plant one in my yard
Every day I would water it
So the lemons would grow

Sunshine Squeezed Lemon with Water Sugar in a Glass
I just need sunshine;
Lemons off a tree squeezed, please;
Water, sugar, glass;

lemon, adventure, desire, drink, food,
I am exhausted in sweltering heat
She offers me her fragrance
Two whole glassfuls of lemon water
Laced with honey
Instant hydration of my body
Invigorates me significantly
In return I offer to moisten her soul
But she is too impermeable to water from my glass
Anchored in absolute self control
Or else I lacked enough dews on the grass
Inside her fridge
Needle like water crystals glisten
Slow crystallization
White pearls of expectation
For a distraction she turns her eyes
To a dense mound of cloud in the sky
Where water waits to be released as rain
A precipitation in making
Waiting for the requisite temperature and pressure
To get down as raindrops
Upon the lovely mountain top
Similar droplets at her window
Nicely held though …

LEMON SLICES
rivulets of condensation drip down
the sides of tall glasses-- iced water
lemon slices flavour refreshing reflections

lemon, drink, fruit,
I
don't need God today,
just a pitcher of water
a couple rays of lemon
chilled in the fridge
to heavenize
the lips,
Such a simple thing
a glass of chilled bliss,
No, I don't need God today,
but tomorrow may be different.
Is it blasphemous,
for telling a simple truth
for this little treasure chest
of simple pleasures that I own
does it make God pissed?
will he slingshot?
a burning ball of vengeance
blind me to my knees...
Because he was trumped by a lemon
they say he has a sense of humor.
The good book says he even winks.
No, I don't need God today.
Just a couple of sweet yellow rays,
but tomorrow will be different.
