Stains of shame

"I entered the bus, full and crowded,
Wearing a white kurta, pure and unblemished.
But when I got off, it was stained red,
Without consent, my dignity was shed.

I walked to the store, trying to escape,
But the red spread, a constant ache.
Inside the store, it grew even more,
A reminder of the pain I couldn't ignore.

I took an auto, trying to find solace,
But the driver's eyes, they kept on watching me,
Popping through the mirror, a gaze so bold,
Making me feel vulnerable, young and old.

I finally reached home, seeking refuge and peace,
But the red followed, a constant release.
Where am I safe? Where can I hide?
From the pain, the shame, the tears I've cried?"

If I Die For My Nation

Listen listen respected MAA
Forget my all mistakes
If I die for my nation
Open windows all the gates

So that soul of mine could enter
Could see father and you MAA
And sit down on lap MOM
To re feed your milk my MAA

And could ask all you
To forget my all evils
And forget my presence symbol
As I return to crush the perils

I remember early awakening
And remember glassful milk
I remember your calling
To wearing Kurta made of silk

Believe Believe and trust me MAA
I will return to serve the nation
Will rejoin beloved army
I remember milk your taken

Monorhyme On Divine Friend Mr Kallol Banarji

When all the world is a giant burden,

Banerji sir, my colleague, a true SST Allen.

“Maan ki bat Modi ke Sath; rest other shun,”,

Says always my friend Banarji, never stun

Or stagger or startle, never remains barren.

Best friend who teaches Dhruvi and others Balkan,

Or India with psychology, without an apron.

Kenil, Hari, Bhavin, Shivani had some unban;

With Favourite dish of Dada, a fish; talks on Patan,

Sings hymns, buzzes about Mahakali one.

Says, “Your age is less than my profession.”

Scolds us, “Worst batch of year” – a Pun?

He is Bangali babu, wears dhoti, kurta even,

Talks about SST, and about doors wide open.

He is a Brahman, takes plausible action,

Wearing a chevron, is our Divine’s lion.

Meshwa, Diya, and Pitambar are clearly won,

With Aryan, Harsh, Nupur, Dishal and billion.

Let it be Shakespeare or Keats or Byron

He is through with all, has a great fortune.

Appreciates my Monorhyme and region

Never keeps quiet, but is pure bullion.

Dear to my students, Esha, Jeet or Rohan.

Prosper a lot is my wish, Oh! Aaron!

All I Know About Hinduism

All I Know about Hinduism

Squealing,
I adorned myself
with bangles
which followed my suit
as they clinked.
Combing my hair
and placing flowers
they contained the same level of energy
as I did.
Running around
thinking I was a princess
reality: the bride was the real deal.
Tripping on the hard stone floor
a gentle hand lifts me up
puts a sweet
into my tiny hands.

Five years later
I take my seat on the tile floor.
Wearing leggings and a kurta like all others
who sit in straight rows.
Reading from the slokas on the poster
making sure we say Om
three times before starting.
Clasping both hands
we pray to every special guide in our lives.
Understanding how each one of them has molded us.

Five years later, I sit in front of my laptop.
Wearing sweat pants and a shirt like my sister.
Worshipping daily after taking a shower does not wash away the sins.
Having a plan for the future does not mean I know what it will turn out to be.
All I do know is I have friends up there
who will listen to me and
who will help me.
That’s all I know.
