Fish consuming bats come out at night
In Brazil struggling fish is a sight
So scary are the long-tongued bats
Pollen and nectar give them their fats
Frog-eating bats reside in Panama
They devour them all cold and raw
Vampire bats make my shivers shake cold
Blood from animals is their liquid gold

Fickle heart
is a woman's vulnerable feelings.
Hopeful heart
is believing the impossible.
Faithful heart
is believing the miracle.
Loving heart
is loving the unlovable.

I’ve seen the world change, transform in sight,
My country has taken on so many a plight.
On one side, poverty’s face is shown,
On the other, prosperity has grown.
One side gleams with bright faces, full of cheer,
On the other, life trembles, caught in fear.
The rich walk proudly, the poor quake in dread,
Like wolves chasing prey, they’ve fled.
The strong push laws aside, trample them down,
They’ve legalized their wealth, in every town.
They stash their riches, send them abroad,
Planning their escape, making the law their fraud.
Cut wages, take mothers' dues away,
Taxes and fines growing every day.
Some chase titles, lost in the quest,
While others wander, just trying to rest.
The good spread their kindness, hearts so bright,
The bad hide their wounds, concealed from sight.
Why must a young life be taken in vain?
Why must they hang, filled with sorrow and pain?
We lie in the fields, shot or hung,
No matter how much we try to run.
The cause of it all lies in the deceit,
And the wrongs proclaimed from the podium's seat!

Love comes in a myriad of shapes and sizes
in countless forms both large and small…
that I could’t possibly in one poem…
communicate them all…
But as we head into this holiday season
I imagine we need love more than we ever needed it before…
So today I bring you 2 definitions of love:
one from Tommy who is 6…
and one from Maryann…who’s 4.
Love, according to Tommy…(I’ve added in the rhyme)
is when an old lady and a old man are still good friends
even though they’ve known each other…for a long, long time.
Maryann defines love in a totally different way…
It’s when you’re pet dog licks your face, she says
even though you’ve left it home alone all day.
And so my wish for you is simple…
that sometime before you life is done…
if you haven’t already felt Tommy’s or Maryann’s love…
you will have experienced…at least one.

There are different kinds of love
Each with a special bond of love.
Philia is for friendship and a special trust
For secrets shared and secrets kept a must.
Eros is for passion, lust, and physical needs
Where sexual fantasies and desires are freed.
Storge is natural love of family, children, or kin
It is a lifetime of affection that seldom truly ends.
Agape is selfless love beyond daily concerns
For the strangers with nothing to return.
In what kind of love do you abound?
In what kind of love do wish for now?

North wind seemed to breathe heavier tonight
I felt a shadow gargoyle sit down on my chest
My lungs labored to breathe,
I heard two sets of footsteps,
Was someone following me?
I felt threatened without understanding why
I stumbled on a chunk of rock,
and wondered if it was a skull
It was one of those kinds of nights
A flashlight would have made all the difference to me

The squawk of seagulls punctuates
The quiet by the beach,
Yet the lack of other noises
Makes relaxing within reach.
The wail of sirens doesn’t let
The city quiet stay,
For even in the early morn
The noisiness holds sway.
The chirp of crickets syncopates
The rhythm of the night,
So the quiet of the countryside
For dominance must fight.
A library or hospital,
Both recognized for quiet,
May hush incoming visitors
But I don’t really buy it.
For there are hums and whispers,
Of machinery or voice,
Which may pierce the silence and confirm
That quiet’s not a choice.
Maybe outer space is different,
But on earth I will refute
Any claim that there’s a place to go
Where quiet’s absolute.

I am living my dream she said
Lying to preserve her dignity
I love my life, he told me.
I knew he must be joking becaise I knew his wife.
My husband's office Christmas party was just getting started
All kinds of fake smiles greeted each other and me
Within hours a variety of liquors had loosened tight tongues
I learned things about strangers' families I never needed to know
I longed to go home, put on my pajamas and hug my husband.
He came by and asked, "Are you doing okay?”
I nodded, because I could tell he was enjoying himself.
And he rarely attends a party.

Ten Kinds of Quiet
David J Walker
Some are messages
Floating in a sunburst breeze
Catching in limbs of
Sycamore trees
Meant for me
But only those
That I could read
While swiftly flying by
Meanings modified
In a rising sun
The day has begun
Traffic lights
Coffee shops
A dry run of
Conversations
Taking place later
Rather than sooner
Sometime today
There are ten kinds of quiet
Or so I have read
Nothing said
In the rest of the mornings
contemplations

Spiders, ants, and all kinds of bees
Are problematic when you work on your knees
While mosquitoes and gnats vex during your leisure
Insects have a way of interrupting our pleasure.
I try to respect insects for us they outnumber
Spiders, ants, and all kinds of bees,
They seriously interrupt my outdoor slumber
Some are especially bad in the hot summer.
I will admit that I absolutely detest flies,
Especially when they enter my pristine kitchen
Spiders, ants, and all kinds of bees,
I break out pesticides I’m not supposed to mention.
My screens do a great job of keeping them out
Let them live outside in my sycamore trees
But leave me alone when I am out and about,
Spiders, ants, and all kinds of bees.

Original sin is not the only kind of sin
Another kind of sin which we commit ourselves, called the actual sin
Kinds of Actual sins are Mortal and Venial
Mortal Sin is a grievous offence against the law of God
Venial Sin is a slight offense against the law of God in matters of less importance; or in matters of great importance it is an offence committed without sufficient reflection or full consent of the will
The chief sources of sins are seven. Pride, Covetousness or greedy, Lust, Anger, Gluttony, Envy and Sloth or laziness and they are called (7) Capital Sins

What Kinds of Poems do People with Bi-Polar Disorder Write?
What kind of poems do people with bi-polar disorder write?
Are they up and down? Down and up? Down, down, down, down, DOWN.
Then up, up, up, up, up UP?
Are they more likely to write poetry on a manic-filled day
or a day of gloom and doom? They get depressed, don’t they?
It is something I think of sometimes.
But I do not dwell on it.
It is not something I lose sleep over.
I have other things that help me with that.

There are beauties
that don't resist,
don't even survive...
Distorted beauties
of the commercial songs...
beauty of doubtful tastes
of addictive repetitions...
beauties that don't
remain wonderful... are
only imposters...!
