Brown patches showing now the snow will melt
Giving water to the ground
For grass to grow

For days winter's freezing winds and snow raged
cold windows now curtained white
but, my rooms whisper peace *

The river's Winter copy of the sky
Once brazed by its fist, beneath
Still ice, shatters like glass.
Rainbow ribbons shadow white sofa, walls,
curtains. Pink rose and white snow.
Cockapoo’s desert tan.
nature
iron cold grips the valleys and highlands
with snow - the winter's offspring -
snarls at sassy snowdrops

Snow forecast in the mountain foothills,
clouds are swiftly blowing in,
white geese are flying low.
over harvested fields
searching for a safe landing
away from the wildness of the dark storm.
Kimo with reverse kimo
When there's a big winter blizzard outside
and we have no place to go,
cabin fever takes us.
inspired by another member's poem
the forest is frozen with snow and ice
and the bare trees are moaning . . .
a stream still meanders

To Climb a Mountain
Snow capped mountains...Ascending to the skies
Perilous journey...Hard fought
Gods' grace awaits...Praise him
Spring was peaking about
but Winter pushed her away-
snow falling again in a silent hush

A crystalline drop of frozen water
blossoms into a snowflake;
while tumbling to the ground.
And fragile flakes twirling in the sunlight
perform perfect pirouettes;
dancing upon a breeze.
White on white, the air is almost opaque;
as feathery flakes of snow
fall from a sullied sky.
Naked trees don a shawl of frosty white,
delicately woven flakes:
beautiful to behold.
The ground gets blanketed in a soft fleece
stretched silky smooth by the wind,
seamless and wrinkle-free.
Boughs bow under the weight of Winter's hand,
sculpting a Hallmark moment;
time locked in memory.
And within the splendor of that moment,
I slipped under Winter's spell;
and fell deeply in love.
Seven pigeons sitting cold in the snow,
upon a street sign trembling;
and the snow is falling.
As if on cue they fly on snowy wings,
circling the city buildings;
till a safe ledge is found.
Beautiful they smooth their heavy feathers,
sitting quiet in the cold;
as snowflakes drift about.
How I wish my own weary heart could fly,
and as winter blows and roars;
I could just fold my wings.
O, but could I fly like seven pigeons,
and close my eyes to winter;
and the snow is falling.
