"And just like that, Jeanie was gone".
In the movie, Forrest Gump, Forrest
could never keep track of Jeanie,
a childhood friend he grew up with.
With the first viewing of the movie,
I was reminded of a childhood friend
for whom I cared a lot and thought that
our lives would be spent together.
Her name was also Jean.
One might say that she was the one that 'got away'
or the one I lost, but looking back, she was not the one
that God had planned for me. Until I came to realize
that fact, just like Forrest, in my heart, I kept saying,
"And just like that, Jeanie was gone". Sometimes, we
have to lose in order to gain.
I remember the time and place of that crucial conversation
when we both came to the realization that we were not meant
for each other. My chosen career was in conflict with the kind of life
to which she aspired. Sometimes, the one that got away is the one
that should have gotten away because anything otherwise would
have been a failure.

Walking with Jeanie
I wander with Jeanie along the wild way
where fields become cliffs that drop down to the bay.
With gulls riding thermals, a whispering sea,
the skylark sings love songs for Jeanie and me.
I whisper that love is sweet joy bound with sorrow,
be with me today and I’ll ask no tomorrow,
then gather a posy as evening comes creeping
to lay on the soil where my lovely is sleeping.

Jeanie wore a beanie
To protect her from the cold,
It was really good in winter,
Or when the wind blew bold.
It had a little scarecrow,
Knitted right on top,
To scare those pesky birds away
From a little birdy plop. alternate- drop/stop

Jeanie in the Bottle
By Elton Camp
Jeanie in a fancy bottle did dwell
Often inside for a quite long spell
Question occurred to me
Where the bathroom could be
Living there must have been hell

Ssshhhhhhhh, Don’t………….tell…………..anyone
I found a lamp with a jeanie and I’m gonna have fun
Mmmmmmmmm three wishes, what will they be?
I know eliminate wars, pain and suffering from humankind
No wait I’ll have every boot in the world kick my boss’s behind
Oooooooor a Porsche no Lamborghini
Surrounded by plump women, I hate them skinny
Aaaaaaand uuumm? To rule the world and have all the money
Be the a comedian and people will die laughing cause ill be really funny
No I got it, be able to go anywhere in the universe
Or never die so I don’t have to ride in a hearse
I don’t know, a wife that doesn’t cause me heart ache and pain?
No I have one, my imaginary friend Glen’s sister Jane
Uuuuuh man! Ok two beers, one for you and one for me
And another Jeanie cause I know I'll mess up the first 3 wishes you see
* I dream of Jeanie contest*

WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO JEANIE?
THE GIRL SO MEEK AND MILED.
THE ONE WHO ALWAYS SMILED AT ME.
THAT YOUNG SWEET CHILD.
SHE LOVED PLAYING AT THE PARK
AND RUNNING AFTER DARK.
SHE LOVED LITTLE KITTENS
AND PLAYING IN THE SNOW IN HER CAP AND MITTENS.
WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO JEANIE?
THE GIRL WE ALL USED TO SEE.
THE ONE DOLLED UP IN PIGTAILS.
ANS WHO’S SHOES SANG OF BELLS.
SHE CRIED AT SAD MOVIES
AND ENJOYED CLIMBING TREES.
HER BROTHERS USED TO CALL HER NOBBIE KNEES.
SHE WAS CHILD PERFECT AS SHE COULD BE.
WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO JEANIE?
WELL HER DADDY CAME HOME IN A DRUNKEN RAGE, YOU SEE!
SHE GOT IN THE WAY TRYING TO SAVE HER MOMMY.
WHEN THEY FOUND HER SHE WAS GONE.
IT SEEM IT WAS HER SKULL HE POUNDED ON.
SHE USED TO RUN AND PLAY.
SHE USED TO HAVE SO MUCH TO SAY.
WE USED TO SEE HER EVERY DAY.
UNTIL A FATHERS MISTAKE TOOK HER FAR AWAY.
