Sonnet to the Wakanda King: Chadwick Boseman

A man had returned to the dust!
His friends had called to check on him
On this twenty-eight of August.
Not knowing he was a victim.

The night before, all three of them:
Greg Reid, Javon, and Michael B.
Knowing he was for them a gem,
Made sure, at home, he had to be.

Now, did they know he was dying
Or did they say "Bye" just in case!?!
The next day, they would be crying.

That day, the world had lost a man,
Black Panther who can't be replaced
was no other than Chad Boseman!

Javon

The happiness of my day
The reason I look forward to coming home
Your brown eyes
Your smile
Your laugh
You learning to talk
The little feet hitting the floor
You in front of the tv dancing away
Your braided hair
You attached to me
The calling of my name
The gibberish you talk
The ways of making us all laugh
The many ways you display your smartness
To just being you, yourself, my nephew,
Javon
