Premium MemberHoliday - Holyday Meditation

“It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas”
Or so the happy lyrics go
Houses decorated with wreaths
Bright red ribbons and great big bows
In darkness, lights glimmer beneath;
Outside inflatable plastic Santas
Tied to stakes in ground; held in place
Watching our to - fro momenta
In superficial shopping race—
Being somewhat apathetic
Perhaps we, too, need tied to ground,
To consider the synthetics –
Hol-i-day fun tends to confound
   “O Holy Night…”
Bright lights and decorative trim
Softened by voices in choir
Ah! “Oh Come Let Us Adore Him;”
Beauty inside just as the stars,
Advent candle announcing joy
Shepherds like us sought the Christ-child—
Praise God for birth of baby boy
In a lowly manger so mild—
Christ holds us firmly in place
In the realness of our ponder,
Separating the rush from grace,
One is giv’n Hol-y-day wonders.

Happy Holidays

Hol ly, hol ly, it was the hol ly
And joy, what joy, at this time can be.
Part of holly has a berry as white as the milk.
Pretty garlands on the tree are gold, lace, white and silk.
Yule season was the reason, for happiness you see.

Hol ly, hol ly, it was the hol ly.
Oh, joy, what joy, at this time can be.
Lights are glowing so brightly, it seems like a dream.
Incandescent clear wonders, that all around gleam.
Dear ones who we love so, are gathered nearby.
Angels sing heaven’s melodies, from up in the sky.
Yes, oh yes, it was the hol ly
Shout joy, what joy, at this time can be
12/24/16

Based on the tune of The "Sans Day Carol" or "St. Day Carol" one of the many Cornish Christmas carols written in the 19th century.

A Single Tree

A Single Tree
Steve L. Siegel
August, 2015
-:-
Up on the upper Hoh River there is a trail
Only two and haft miles long, at end of trail is a tree
Were it has turned into a cross all by Gods own hands
People have been coming up there for years to see.
-:-
There is no pastor up here
Only a log beam made into a bench
Where people come pray or meditate
Some getting closer to God within the tree’s reach.

Myself it was time for self-reflections
I knew that for me it was time to grow
Where I learned that a little rain must fall
Some-times for Jesus, so that I can learn to be the show.
-:-
I sure don’t know why this tree grew this way
By the laws nature it should not have
Nothing has ever hurt this tree
No fire or lighting has ever have.
-:-
I do truly believe that this tree
Has seen more people turn their lives around
Then any church or pastor on any Sunday
Maybe, that’s why God put this tree in this piece of ground.
-:-
Author’s Notes
This tree is for real it is a big spruce somehow instead going straight up
It has two branches that forms a cross.
It at Olympic Nat, Park, Hol campgrounds

Premium MemberMosquito's In Southport

There I was on holiday in August 2013
the second day at Southport by the sea
sitting in the park by the pond
felt a scratch just below the knee

So I started to scratch it
despite my wife's pleas to not
hardly got any sleep that night
so was wondering what I caught

First thing next day got to doctor
she says you've got mosquito bite
gave me anti-biotics and some cream
said that leg of yours quite a sight

After a week the itch calmed down
still enjoyed the holiday despite bite
the sunshine stayed throughout the hol
still got tanned really bright

So if you get mosquito bite
make sure you don't scratch
for it'll bite you back
and be more than your match!

AUTHOR NOTES:For you non UKers this holiday was in Southport, England on
north west coastline between Liiverpool and Blackpool, by the way I'm going
back soon for this years holiday but no sitting in park by the pond, no way!!

Our Seaside Hol

We stroll along the wave lapped beach,
Together, hand in hand,
And turn to see a pair of tracks:
Our footprints in the sand.

The gulls are screaming overhead;
The early sun’s still mild;
The sea is calm with ripples now -
But last night it was wild.

We watched the breakers in the storm,
As lightning split the sky,
And thunder boomed, and rain lashed down,
And ships were tossed up high.

Today will be a sunny one -
Sunbathers paradise,
And kids will build sandcastles here…
For us, right now is nice!

Premium MemberI'Ll Give It To You Straight

Holy Mole-y, what’s that ball
resting on your nose?
If I were a circus clown,
I’d want one of those!

And the other twelve I see-
all red bulbous spots -
May I grab my marker and
play “Connect the Dots?”

You are too afraid to get
them burned off, you say?
Yet you’re brave enough to wear
them to work each day??

And you say your friends respect
what’s behind your face.
I admit, you’ve taken what
life dished out with grace!

But your friends don’t help. . . I’ll
give it to you straight!
(Since you want to know why you
just can’t get a date!)

People have been nice to you.
They’re just using tact.
Kids say “Holy Mole-y,” though,
right behind your back!

HOLY is not just with H,
But with “W.”
(W)HOL(L)Y Mole-y is the sad
fact I’m talking to!
