John Madden RIP

As an offensive linesman forms profession,
Complimenting Raiders pro football coach,
Relating coaching and playing no question,
At every game, there's a diverse approach,
After his heyday years on the field, to cam,
A front-page kinda guy, sporting the news,
His behind the cam persona clearly amuse,
Hectic tit-for-tat lifelike catchphrases bam,
Commercials, sportscasting purged midlife,
I personally knew him in his career highlife,
He knows the playbook, immortalized rock,
'Twas a subject of intrigue, animated stock,
Ere Constitution, the Word in his interviews,
It's nineteen seventy-seven Raiders streak,
Twelve consecutive victories Super Bowler,
Oakland Airport Hilton, the Raiders quarter,
As Hospitality Aficionado I smile and greet,
But now, twelve-year his calling as a coach,
Making Raiders fans proud, as all encroach,
We pay homage to the man giant than men,
A football player, coach, TV persona, friend.

Coffee Terza Rima

Drinking my hot coffee in the morning
While drinking my coffee, looking at my wife
Drinking my coffee, makes it goodmorning.

As I sit there looking at the love of my life
I sip my coffee, it takes me to heaven
She will always remain my highlife .

I go to the casino and roll seven
Feeling truly it is my lucky day
I roll again hitting the number eleven.

Felling that lady luck is by my side
I smile with love and pride at my new bride.

Benin

A mass of grey and rusted silver strewn
By the sky god from sifted appurtenances.
Preserve of ancients jousting with modernity,
Behind edifice a disperse of brimming slums
With piles, heaps of filth, debris, decay and stench;
Congestion and the jostle for ends and gains.

Benin endowed with neo wiles obviating tradition
And irked for now-now pleasure and wealth
Imitating and striving for wannabes
Inculcating habit and aspiring for a world without the sun
Yet far from assimilating it by the words of the old:
Carrot does not sprout in the root of a yam stalk.

Old city, once enliven by aestheticism
And renowned by the arts and crafts of bronze now
At the backdrop with every frontlines bedecked
By remnants of exotic necessaries. Men, vehicles rush,
Scramble and stream Ringroad and Ramat
From dawn to dusk to the abyss of nowhere
And returning home at last to the euphoric solace
Of the mellow hit of Waifo highlife
And the scores of green, brown bottles that thrive.

Benin, where once the Portuguese trespassed,
The Dutch men trampled and the British overturned
Leaving behind their long evening shadows
A new self-image chained in the heart.

Beauty, To Teresa Brewster

Beauty...to Teresa Brewster

I see you in the rising sun
In the glamour of it's setting
You wander with the lonely butterfly
sucking nectar from the open flowers in my heart's garden

I hear your voice
In the sunbird's song
In the highlife tunes
My heart sings

I smell your presence
In my favorites food's aroma
In the sweet scented herbs
In the first mass incense

Anything beautiful
Anything appealing
Anything pleasant
Rings out your name

Premium MemberYellow Frill

I wanted to write a poem
About the Daffodil
But when I tried to fit it
In a form, it lost all its thrill

I wanted to say how lovely
Swaying upon the hill
Dancing in the morning breeze
Sporting her yellow frill

Daffodils fill my senses
Like a tulip in springtime
Like a star studded midnight
Like a fire on cold winter's eve

Their bright golden center
Like a golden sunrise
Daffodils in spring centre
Even when clouds fill skies

Daffodils light up my life
When my hope had gone
From winter's drear strife
Daffodil you help me go on

For your bright sunny
Center lights up my life
You are nature's bonny
Excellent flower of highlife

(Kind of borrow some from "Annie's Song" sung by John Denver...

Premium MemberBeauty No Shadows

Beauty walked straight into my life
Opened blinded eyes to glory
Everything now highlife

Beauty touches this story
With gentle soft scented breeze
Even blue Morning Glory

Beauty accompanies dawn
Days of red fireball brawn

Beauty touched white Luna Flower
Moon beams gives this flower power
To open__ beautify night

Wafting scent draws Hummingbird Moth
Beauty opened my eyes__sooth
Creation offers free gift

Each day a new story
Commenoratory

When beauty walked into my heart
New view of life the total part
Beauty never now depart

Feed my spirit lift me up please
On your gift my soul will appease
Beauty open doors, windows

Touch on my heartstrings ease
With rainbows no shadows
