And
David J Walker
And
Who willfully enters this
beautiful land
Of misunderstandings
Its pallor a depth increased
Beyond the azure sky
the dawn a deceptive gathering
of propagated meanings
A tapestry in patois proverbial greetings
The façade in umbrage of
The Hierophants sagacious pleadings
He will leave a different man
But not alive

Enamored, the orthodox heart did dare,
negating the ornery ways that glared,
as sparkles snared in a love impasse.
Memories quaint, these moments that’ve passed…
…of you and I, perfect Sol hierophants
Rays of hot gold, palpable in nimble hands
as our limbs dazzle-danced with youth’s prowess,
denying our eyes of the immanent duress…
Amidst the music and raucous laughter,
evermore imbibed and tasted hereafter…
New Zealand waved its summer days southward ~
Dolphins winked thru the surf’s cresting reward ~~
So long to those sun-filled, warm Christmas days…
So long to those love-filled, carefree plays…

Guiding Hierophants
And Priestess’s
The voices of subliminal
Spiritual clue-lings
Reach out to us
Where the quiz-lings longings
Seeks their answers
Footprints through the millennia
They have left their traces
Verse of heroes
Heroines of the stanza
Utter from silent wounds
And heart wrenching beauty
Souls to contain the expressive
Un-worded
The fancy and truth
Deliberated on the pages
Of their hearts
Left open to the targets
Of emotion
Stand courageous only human
To the ridicule and the laudable
For the poetry of the world
Write on
Geniuses of the word
Send the enterprise of messages
Speak for all
All who find inexpressive
Their language faltered
Needs vocal
To satisfy the yearning dumbness
Of floating poignant
Captured
And remind us
Where the quiz-lings longings
Seek their answers

hierophants, on writing and words,
Form: Free verse
I pray before the candles in the night
Inspired to take a chance upon the lam
Upon my golden cup the pentagram
Tapped by a hazel wand times three
My sturdy hand grasps the sharp silver blade
Burning incense splash the sacred alter
As silken purple robes flow away free
As a full sail upon the gusting sea
Song birds alight upon the fortune wheel
And Lovers await teeming chariots
And hierophants question the religion
Of the bright crescent moon upon the sky
The wind rattles the wooden Wicca men
They hang in the Douglas trees about me
I kneel and pray to the Goddess and God
The Witch’s bell rings and the candles doused
On the lamb’s skin I stand and meditate
The bamboo flutes tenderly die away
I turn and part the hanging beads to go
Another day the points five within me
