An Acrobat’s Walking Alternative
While I curse the nerve damage in my feet,
bulging discs now cause me to limp about.
Is this the fate aging acrobats meet
because our jumbled spines twist in and out?
Bulging discs now cause me to limp about,
so I’ve taken to walking on my hands
because our jumbled spines twist in and out.
Waiting in line, on my head I will stand.
So I’ve taken to walking on my hands,
learned to ignore the strange stares I receive.
Waiting in line, on my head I will stand,
the only way for pain to relieve.
Learned to ignore the strange stares I receive,
grabbing groceries off shelves with my toes.
The only way for my pain to relieve,
placing groceries in a cart with leg throws.
Grabbing groceries off shelves with my toes,
I think about all the doctors who failed.
Placing groceries in a cart with leg throws,
I secretly hope these doctors are jailed.
I think about all the doctors who failed.
Is this the fate aging acrobats meet?
I secretly hope these doctors are jailed,
while I curse the nerve damage in my feet!
*For Paula's Pantoum contest
Reefer Hits The Spot!
I can’t stop my use of pot,
It helps relieve my pain and makes it stop.
I used to see it at rock concerts
and smell the reefer drifting up from the bleachers,
never thought I would be a marijuana reacher.
But this disease has its grip on me,
I seek any and every way to find relief.
To hell with you who give me any despair,
if you were in this much pain you wouldn’t care,
the course of this disease is beyond repair,
the constant state of pain for me, is so hard to wear.
Get that finger away from me, don’t poke!
You wouldn’t think it was so funny if you
were the bloke of the joke.
For every time I need to, I will take a toke.
I don't have a disease nor do I smoke pot, I just wrote this poem for the contest.
How can something so small
Cause so much pain?
With awesome power
And nothing to gain
You think you are dying
You hope that you are
Your threshold of pain
Has been tested so far
Those who have been there
Will recognize it's sign
You're ever so lost
In this moment of time
Trapped in this agony
You're feeling inside
You lose all control
Like Jekyll and Hyde
A whole new dimension
Where many have been
No words to describe
The pain that you're in
Some people have them
Just once in their life
While others are cursed
With this torment and strife
Nothing can help you
You're all alone
Your own private hell
The kidney stone
This Pain
This inescapable
unstoppable
out of control
Pain
It rips through my body
destroying anything in its path
Poisonous
deadly
Pain
like knives stabbing over your body
torterious
hair raising
disturbing
Pain
sudden
yet slow
the pain remains
unable to ease
ever growing
teeth grinding
Pain
the sharp
gut spilling
sting
miserable
agonizing
throbbing
Pain
the venom runs through my veins
a slow death
cold
painful
death
my body
frozen in time
mind distant
never to return
its better that way
away from this Pain
this all to familiar Pain
darkening
the light fades away
replaced by fear
Pain
unexplainable
the result of this pain is death
this Pain
this deadly
uncomfortable
retched
Pain
Is Love....
