Runaway Train

Seen with the naked eye
we feel safe, she is up in the sky.
An apparition appearing on time
every 75 years, a sight sublime.
Fireball with a tail blazing behind
Calculated by the scientific mind.

1986, my generation held our breath
as we watched her ravishing pass,
once in a lifetime chance!
Next in 2061 will Halley's Comet grace
Earth with an anticipated pace-

Ah! So we thought..
Hally has different plans
for all of man...
Tired of showing off her tail
She decides to make a
switch on the rail-
As folks stand aghast, watching in awe
This runaway train
May be the end of us all!
