Tropical storms bring
Devastation, hurt and pain
And harm to others
The wake of the storm...
My known world razed to the ground.
The rubble, my life.
A Lightening strike
hit a tree in the back yard
resembles toothpicks.
Tornado Warning
all of its might was soon aired
But Haskell was spared.
Dark clouds start to mass,
Distant rumble, wind picks up,
Tempest drawing near.

Low, darkening clouds
flashes fly and life recoils
thunder drums the earth
Fast break, a blur,
Points rain down, a sudden storm,
Net sings, game over.

the old tree
wrinkled and leaning
storm warning
tree limb breaks away
the ice storm gave no free rain
limb so very young
waves recede---

thunder howls on shore
silencing the gulls
Lone, tall, verdant wobbling leaf
Strong autumn gales come
Immovable, unbending
You left in the rain,
Heartbeats echo through the storm,
Memories remain.
