Premium MemberShuffling Through

Inspired by the Onomatopoeia Contest (2024), sponsored by Emile Pinet.

Mid-day invaded my spirits with blah.
I sauntered the path to the coffee shop
and heard my friends blabbing on endlessly,
astir with the recent barista flop.

I swallowed a mouthful of latte,
gagged and gargled with an unwanted flush
of caramel nut crème tickling my throat.
It made my gustatory senses gush.

After much gurgling, I gulped and groaned,
spilling the foamy froth with a loud plop.
My spirits sizzled and snapped
with the luscious last loud drop.

Having quenched my fraudulent thirst
I selfishly, yet successfully, bashed
the doleful doldrums that attended me.
I hiccupped along home and crashed.

Premium MemberEGG-STASY an ode to the gustatory ******

An ode to the gustatory ******
My mouth meanders through this dream
This memory of breakfast in bed
A lover seducing my every desire
Sweet maple, slight hint of flannel
A light crispness of waffle
Caressed by firm red breasted berries
A passing breath of hickory smoke
To mingle light sweetness
With the tingle of strawberries
Bathed in Vermont’s best maple
Eggs, uncaged, unfettered by shells
Sunrise yolks spreading across crisp waffles
To quell the insatiable beast of morning
Palate cleansed by the darkness
Of steaming hot black coffee
A tremble at the first taste of
Egg-stasy kissed by syrup
Teased by a sharp berry bite
Placed upon the edge
Of hickory salty ham
My taste buds shriek
As each bite intensifies
My gustatory ******

Premium MemberI heard my tongue scream

I heard my tongue scream
YES!!!! YES!!!!! OH GAWD YES!!
The fork trembled
The knife hesitated
The maple syrup
Dripping lips quaked.
Cage free egg yolks
Filled the craters
Of the unexplored waffle terrain
Soft, plump cheeked strawberries
Crept closer to the golden shore
Blushing as the bacon sizzled at them
A knife parted the sea of syrup
Allowing it to mingle
To taunt, tempt and torture
The taste buds
Of a once insatiable beast
The last vestige
Of this gustatory grandeur
The hint of maple
Caressing my moustache
Tormenting a tortured tongue
Arousing a need to
Gently lick
That prickly collector
Of memories
In search of savory crumbs

Premium MemberI Sense

languid doldrums, swaying lanyard, sails hanging loose

dreary small drums reverberate, neurons dumbing down

nerve ends fuse, sunlit shadows depict my numbing frown

feelings grind dull, thoughts stranded in the dangling sluice

  sudden intermittent draught, strengthening breeze

mind and body free-falling, spontaneous pressure

sinews stretch, skin on skin, pulsating probing pleasure

senses tingle, tickling laugh, lengthening squeeze

breathe in deep, sniff olfactory aroma drift

gustatory tasting plates licked and tongued

  erotic amalgam squished and belly-bunged

nostrils flare, exotic pungent odour whiffed

cavort, canoodle, drooling lips, flavours of the beast

rhythms rise where delirious frenzy can often be

harmonic screaming near the edge of cacophony

weave distorted images, dream-dancing above the feast

fleers, seekers, washed-up innocent sinning on the beach

subdividers and King Canute howling at the wind

viral loads onboard, invisible invaders grinned

collective cowardice casts the truth spinning out of reach

Personal, Passionate Truth

Olfactory, gustatory flight of mind chemicals
 Ransom on a molecular taste
Fallen flowers abscond with recent soil
Burning candle oil to reminisce the paste

Its all leather and feather
 Strap some animal sound
 To make your carpet alive
 Slinging carpeter's paint through hides

A cave in the carcass never bought or sold
 Our marker is the target
 To relive ample thought
Cash memory bounty with forgotten lambs

Slurpy through seaform mercury
The sea creatures in soupy climbing
Mixed up elements stashed on paper
 Making houses and grave scrawlings

Bacon to banish the stress
Dumping down a one way mess
 Township to impound thought
 And go about its pattern

Its alright, its lather for babes
 The construct we navigate through
Can never touch our personal, passionate truth

Food Pyramids and Consumption Politics

food pyramids, the gustatory embrace of cow eating senators
bucking their allies.
So maybe the consumption of steroid pesticides
truncates our ambition to swiftly move.
No matter, there's wheelchairs, elevators, and highways
 to support the ride.
Its all hearsay but there's definitely
a hidden hand in school lunches.
Maybe ranting across the state assembly
to get their balding hairdoes in check
and write some worlds
that will help us understand our appetites

Pregnant Starlight

In my radio psychology grows
A loopy Admiral constant
Heaving between seas porous
With blue tongued underwater arches
Roman cathedrals with baboon guardtowers
Cerebrally undergoing city territory
The way cliffhanging apes are bound to escape
To sail the nerve lines of creative thought

Spin with me
Through the frozen galaxies
New Ice Age melting old patterns
Threatening not, only to a weary mind
We are always threading and carving daze

Amidst insurgency of gustatory emblem
Redesign the digital embryo provides
Passionate cartographers with virtual tether
To unsheath the countess weather
Human families swoon at the sheets
Grateful pregnant bounties abide

Think bright underneath starlight
As futures embed new lives surprise
Floating all porous ties

Premium MemberGreen Bean Casseroles

Shame on those who malign the green bean casserole!
It gustatory delightfulness I shall e'er extol!
With 'fork in cheek' I'll take nonbelievers to task,
And their foibles and biases will strive to unmask!

Folks who disdain this dish ain't tellin' the truth.
Their culinary tastes are so pitifully uncouth!
I'd like to meet the feller who began this unsavory fable,
To ask why he destined it for such an untimely label!

At the church potluck dinner on fellership night,
There's always a green bean casserole to my delight!
A holiday repast with bountiful board just ain't complete,
Unless there's the inevitable green bean casserole to eat!

'Tis such a scrumptious dish, yet so easy to prepare.
Even I could whip up a batch, I really do declare!
Mix some beans, some onion thingys and mushroom soup,
And there you have it folks, all in one fell swoop!

Ere I flee this realm I aim to found as one of my goals,
"The Society For The Propagation Of Green Bean Casseroles!"
Upon my stone you may etch when I end this life's pursuit:
"Many were the green bean casseroles consumed by this galoot!"

Perfect Pasta Pleasure

Come gather one and all
As I tell you of a feast
That in this land
Could not be any finer
What is this meal called?
Give us a hint at least
What is so grand
And Heaven on earth, fair diner?
I shall tell you of this wondrous meal
That I devour with gustatory zeal

When it comes to pasta
I'll never say "Basta"
That means: Can't get enough
Of that semolina stuff
Covered with marinara
Topped with parmigiana
That is my tasty treasure
And my perfect pasta pleasure

Ravioli, Mostaccioli
With sauce: Putanesca or Bostaccioli
A pan of Baked Ziti
With a bottle of Riuniti
Rigatoni, by Ronzoni
Oh, just call it Macaroni

Ditalini, Cappellini
Twirl my fork in the Fettucini
Here comes mama with the lasagna
Everybody Mangia, Mangia!

I could easily consume it
For breakfast, lunch and dinner
It doesn't matter to me
That I'll never be any thinner
It's delightful beyond measure
This is my perfect pasta pleasure
