Premium MemberThe Demise of jim crow in Minneapolis

Fifty years ago...the age of self-reflection

Hollow crumbs, shadows of proud vestiges
As minneapolis' jim crow vanished slowly,
Painfully, no longer admired at country club
Cocktail parties celebrating ribbon-cuttings

My family was inside and unaware of history
Working class achievement,
 First deli in marble edifice
To corporate greed,
 Connecting the longest Minneapolis
Skyway North to Washington Ave.
Dallas barons, puppet-masters

Guilding their empire on the backs
Of working class talent, eager to eat the
Crumbs of capitalism

Spoon (Mr Witherspoon) slaved to achieve the
Pinnacle of jim-crow "shoe-shine" stands in
 Pillsbury's new world headquarters
Admired in his community
Proudly placed out front, then moved
To the back of a hair salon, ignoble-crushed

Under the weight of boardroom glare
jim-crow lost it's shine

Spoon

            Lost

                      His

                              Leg

In Old California 17

El diablo was Margarita's pride
that gave exciting ride across the fields
and plains of Luis Ore with lengthened stride.
In mind, El Diablo to reins now yields.
With gentle guide, the guilding she now wields
to leap the rapid flowing stream with ease,
then see the cottonwood tall tree that shields
her resting place of ever cooling breeze.

"My uncle has kept Diablo for me. No one has been allowed to sit his saddle. Diablo will remember me."
"How could anyone forget you?"
"You'll turn her head, Don Huerra," Dona rose
interrupted. "She's hard enough to live with."
"Am I hard to live with, father? Father, you answer for me. Am I hard to live with?"
Don Jose smiled affectionately at his daughter.
"Margarita, you're most welcome to live with us as long as you please. If you choose to remain at Peralta, that'll be our gain. I know though, your heart's in Luis Ore and I wouldn't do anything to prevent you from leaving."

Is It You

is it you im lookig for some one to come in my life and show me the way out.
the one who has my hand and guilding me though the darkness and leading me to the light of happieness and pleasure kissing me from head to toe. whispering sweet nothing in my ears why cant it be you maybe im just going crazy thinking bout all the time you was in my ear and touching my body kissing me slowly making weak to my knees. looking around the 4 white wall all i can do is think. is it you that broke me down into the ground and made me change my life so i can live in the fast lane. why would you just leave me so cold alone with no fire or warmth? is it you i run to when my tears run down my face i looked to you to hold me. my heart is all over you was never there. it was you the one i love and lost for ever

it is and will be forever you

Guilding Light

Shall we dwell in the darkness or bathe in the light,
How will we know which path is right?
To please your sences ,If only for a day
what a terrible price some are willing to pay.
For some the pleasure comes easy
and everyone seems to agree
what a wonderful person this one shall be.
But for others pleasure definitley has a price
and nothing good could come from their advice.
For this is the darkness where no one should dwell
the only thing it leads to is the eternal gate of hell.
So remember to bathe in the light
and keep this darkness out of your sight.
Let your pleasure come easy and one day
you will see you are on the path you are suppose
to be.
